Avatar m tn Conversion disorders are disorders in which the patient suffers from symptoms of diseases that he does not actually have. The symptoms of a pseudoseizure are almost same as those of an epileptic seizure, but their origin is psychological, not neurological. One of the characteristic differentiating feature of an epileptic seizure is that there is an abnormal discharge of electricity from the brain during the seizure whereas there is no such electrical discharge during a pseudoseizure.

Avatar f tn Can you be bipolar and only experience manic symptoms? It's my son and I am bipolar. I know it's hereditary. I experience both manic and depressed episodes. He does not get depressed, but shows many signs of being manic.
Avatar f tn If you read that paragraph carefully, you will see these symptoms listed under the seizure category, specifically noted as "Focal Seizure." Muscle twitching and tingling are NOT exactly the signs of a brain tumor any more than they are an EXACT symptom of a hundred other disorders. One being anxiety compounded by hypochondria. One of the major problems with going to symptom sites is that people latch onto the ONE symptom..............

MY son started crying kinda funny, I dont how eles to explain it except that it was like he couldnt cry, when I picked him up he got jerky in my arms and got stiff. He started foaming at the mouth, kinda like a rabitt dog. The whole time crying. He looked so scared. Maybe it wasnt a seizure but I was freaking out. It only lasted about 3-5 minutes but seemed alot longer.
Avatar f tn HI, An epileptic cannot have both a complex partial seizure disorder and a generalized seizure disroder. People with a generalized seizure disorder are usually born with it, while people with partial or complex partial get it sometime during thier life. Generlaized seizures occurr over the entire brain, while complex partial only occurr in a section of the brain. I have complex partial seizures that occurr in my right temporal lobe. They started from a head injury I got when I was three.
462332 tn?1208414791 My neurologist explained that the lab report findings were of changes in the hippocampus and that such findings were normal in patients who have seizure disorders. (BTW, I was diagnosed with encephalitis at about 13 or so but my doctor was pretty poor and I highly doubt that's what it was.) However, he did find that my blood work came back with a positive reading for ANAs. He has since recommended that I speak with a rheumatologist.
Avatar m tn After the seizure I am unable to use the left side of my body as well as the right and this last time i had partial paralysis in the left side of my face and issues walking. I have before been paralysed from the waste down for 3 months and many times been forced to wrk with a walker bc my left side is not fully opperational. Is there anything that you can tell me to ask my doctors to check for or any advice that you can give me. Please I just want to live a normal life again.
Avatar n tn (Currently available) antipsychotics can cause permenant movement disorder such as tardive dyskinesia. However, they must wait a period of time for withdrawl dyskineis to pass. From my knowledge atypical antipsychotics can increase the seizure threshold but this effect is generally not permanent. It would be best to see a neurologist who is a movement disorders specialist and have them do full follow up including an EEG (the specific kind to try to set off seizures) and an MRI.
Avatar f tn What, if anything, should I do about the following symptoms? I have been to a IM doc and neurologist for right sided headache and tinnitis. I have twitching on the right side under my mouth, numbness around my mouth, tinnitis in the right ear and sometimes a dull headache. I have had a cervical discectomy of C4-6 four years ago and wonder if there is a connection. I have shaking of my hands mostly my left which was a symptom for the cervical spine surgery and hasn't gone away.
Avatar n tn Believe it or not, many of the symptoms you have described are those of a child suffering from severe anxiety. In fact, some of the latest research in this area is indicating that children suffering from anxiety are "behind" emotionally and have a lot of difficulty with self-regulation issues. The only item you mentioned that does not indicate anxiety is the "seizure" issue.
Avatar f tn Consult a neurologist for investigation of these symptoms. Multiple sclerosis has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.
Avatar n tn It is not at all uncommon to find folks who have been misdiagnosed initially with a psychiatric disorder, given that the signs and symptoms of certain forms of epilepsy are often vague or non-specific in their presentation, and are often misinterpreted as anxiety neurosis or panic. A 24-hr EEG is of value to exclude such a possibility, but it is not 100% flawless. Consider consultation with a neurologist and try to describe the symptoms in great detail. The greater the detail, the better.
919332 tn?1243459693 The episodes in which he urinates out of control, could be due to a seizure disorder, which is unrelated to the other symptoms. It would be best to have this sorted out by your vet. Endocrine disorders cannot be totally controlled with homeopathy or holistic therapies, but homoeopathy and holistic therapies can help.
Avatar f tn There is no simple, definitive test for a seizure disorder. Often, seizure disorders are diagnosed based on patient history and observation of a seizure. If your daughter had a seizure lasting 30 min., that would qualify for a diagnosis in the minds of many clinicians. I'm sure you'll follow up with the diagnosing doctors and others as necessary. I hope the seizure turns out to be a one-time event.
Avatar m tn I understand you have undergone a number of blood tests and imaging studies. Still I am enumerating all possible causes of your symptoms. The symptoms, especially numbness and tingling can be due to a mini stroke or transient ischemic attack, compression of spinal nerves, Vit B12 deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, low testosterone, anemia, lupus and other autoimmune disorders, heavy metal poisoning, vaso-vagal attack, multiple sclerosis, hypothyroidism, diabetes and panic attack.
Avatar f tn No test can provide a definite diagnosis of ALS, although the presence of upper and lower motor neuron signs in a single limb is strongly suggestive. Instead, the diagnosis of ALS is primarily based on the symptoms and signs the physician observes in the patient and a series of tests to rule out other diseases.
Avatar f tn haven't noticed any more symptoms...I thought about anxiety too but he says mentally/emotionally he feels fine. Doesn't get sick very often, that part throws me off.... He does sweat profusely so maybe it is the seizure thing.
Avatar n tn Seizure activity and signs of neurological problems are common in dogs that are in the end stages of kidney failure due to the buildup of toxins in the body, so it's entirely possible that what you observed was the result of the kidney failure.
