Hi, age is no barrier for seizures; there are plenty of causes related with fits. Usually in adults or young people seizures are related with epilepsy or non epileptic like psychogenic seizures.

my aunt, she is 30 years old has night panic attacks, she wakes up with crying. the crying begins in her sleep and when she woke up she doesn't realize what is happening. the cries are low, continues like a child cry. if she is asked why she is crying? what happened? her reply is "nothing", i don't remember any thing what is happening and she complains of severe body pains which persist for one- two hours later disappears.

The main uses for Ativan are anxiety, irritability in psychiatric or organic disorders, preoperatively, insomnia, and as an adjunct in endoscopic procedures. It's "unlabeled" uses are antiemetic prior to chemotherapy, status epilepticus, rectal use, alcohol withdrawal and seizure prophylaxis.
Nowhere in any medical reference does it state Ativan is used for the treatment of depression.
She is now age 31 and seemed to be in excellent health until April 2008 when she had a grand mal seizure out of the blue. Since then, she's had approximately 10 more. Does anyone know of other adults diagnosed with seizure disorder that had Kawasaki as a child? Just seems like there might be some connection between the seizures and Kawasaki. My daughter went to the seizure clinic at Barnes hospital in St. Louis back in August for an extended EEG.
There is no simple, definitive test for a seizure disorder. Often, seizure disorders are diagnosed based on patient history and observation of a seizure. If your daughter had a seizure lasting 30 min., that would qualify for a diagnosis in the minds of many clinicians. I'm sure you'll follow up with the diagnosing doctors and others as necessary. I hope the seizure turns out to be a one-time event.
Our youngest daughter, who will be 8 in March, had a seizure induced by a fever in early November. The seizure lasted about a minute or less and she was convulsing and lost consciousness. I was shocked and scared because she had not had a febrile seizure since shortly before her third birthday. The only other seizure she had was at 15 months, and again, was a febrile seizure.
Meaning that if an EEG is done during an attack (such as the convulsion you describe above) and the EEG shows the seizure in the brain waves, then the seizure can be confirmed. In other people, convulsions occur but these are due to stress and not true seizures coming from epileptic activity in the brain, in which case the EEG will not show epileptic activity during the convulsion.
After surgery my symptoms were much improved. Last December I had seizure in which I went face first into the floor. I broke my nose, knocked out teeth, and injured my neck. My neck is not improving and, in fact, getting worse. Many of the Chiari symptoms have returned. Can a neck injury cause a repeat Chiari problem? I have had a neck x-ray, but it is fine. The doctor sees arthritis, but no sign of fracture. A fracture was a concern since I have fractured many of mine due to osteoporosis.
His MRI came out clear but the doctor said that his EEG showed seizure activity in his left frontal lobe and gave him an rx for Keppra.
They didn't give him an explanation as to what the cause was and so I called them. The first nurse told me that he is having complex partial seizures. After looking at the information it's possible that some of the things he's always done in his sleep are really seizures. They didn't explain why he was convulsing during the day with no warning.

(Currently available) antipsychotics can cause permenant movement disorder such as tardive dyskinesia. However, they must wait a period of time for withdrawl dyskineis to pass. From my knowledge atypical antipsychotics can increase the seizure threshold but this effect is generally not permanent. It would be best to see a neurologist who is a movement disorders specialist and have them do full follow up including an EEG (the specific kind to try to set off seizures) and an MRI.
Absence seizures are more common in children than adults. Someone having an absence seizure may look like he or she is staring into space for a few seconds.
Compared with other types of epileptic seizures, absence seizures appear mild. But they can be dangerous. Children with a history of absence seizure must be supervised carefully while swimming or bathing because of the danger of drowning. Teens and adults may be restricted from driving and other potentially hazardous activities.
t want my husband and my children, who are adults with children of their own, knowing because I am so ashamed. I have had eating disorders since I was a young child -- I remember hiding food at the age of 8 or 9. As a pre-teen I had gained a lot of weight and was put on dexadrine. Not only did I lose weight my grades were straight A's. When the doctor stopped prescribing I started slipping on grades and of course the weight came back on. Please help!!!
m feeling very anxious, lonely and depressed and get a sick feeling in my stomach fpr fear of being lonely. I presently live with my mom but I know too that she is suffering from her loss as well. She's lost her friends due to the death of my father and unfortunately I never developed friends with my ex-husband due to his alcoholism. What can I do for myself to get better? I can't go on like this as it's not fair to my children.
