963651 tn?1247528914 Rarely, non-epileptic seizures can occur in relation to syncope due to severe oxygen deprivation to the brain. It is possible that this might be what you are experiencing. This describes a few cases of anoxic seizures, though it doesn't specifically get into cases of people who have chronic neurocardiogenic syncope rather than syncope that is, for example, triggered purely by aversive stimuli like the sight of blood: http://www.john-libbey-eurotext.
Avatar n tn I am confused by something I read on a medical inpatient report. There were many of the words that I did not understand what they meant so I looked them up. The one that I have just looked up is"paroxysmal" What I have found is that it is an event that is not really a seizure and comes from having pain. This was mentioned having a VEEG when I remember not having a complaint of pain. This confuses me from the report of a VEEG I had done.
Avatar f tn I have a history of a nocturnal seizure over 30 years ago, have been on dilantin and phenobarbitol since. No seizures since until some sort of incident 6 months ago. Many tests later and adjustments of meds find me feeling well. I think I may have had a TIA witnessed by someone in the family. I have no recall and it lasted 30 seconds. I am on Plavix but was off it for 2 weeks because of a needle biopsy of thyroid for nodules.
401664 tn?1207665788 On 05/07 I was brutally beaten on the left side of my face and the front of my head in an attempted robbery. On 11/07 I had the first seizure in my life, it just came out of no where! I've had CAT scan, MRI & EEG all were OK. My neurologist is an intelligent and well know Dr. with many great things said about him. That is why I chose him. However we still do not have a defined cause for these seizures nor an exact definition of what type they are called.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I started having seizures last february (2011). I don't have epilepsy, as far as they can tell I have toxic encephalopathy. Which means toxins were building up in my brain from the combo of meds I was on. My reg dr said "serotonin syndrome" is another possible dx. The definition of a "controlled" seizure disorder is no seizures for 6 months. I've been going more than 6 mos between seizures.
Avatar n tn As you may already know, any seizure lasting for more than 30 minutes is called status epilepticus. By definition, the seizure you enquire about is a status epilepticus. However without examining the patient, it’s very difficult to comment. Since there is a family history of hypoglycemia, this should also be ruled out in your friend’s case. Persistent low sugar levels in the blood can cause seizures. Also autoimmune disorders should be looked into like celiac disease etc.
Avatar m tn my parents had been to the vet and when I got home I sat with him while he suffered 4 more seizures I decided that I could not see him suffer and we went to vet and tio got the jag to sleep as u can imagine has been upsetting. my question is I found out when he took the first seizure When I was home with himhe struggled to do a poo outside and it looked strange.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar m tn It does still fit the description of a seizure. Not all seizures involve paddling, slobbering and loss of bladder control. Those are basically what are considered to be grand mal seizures. Petite mal seizures can be anything from a twitching of the head to a state of catatonia for a brief time, which sounds more or less like what your girl had. Please let us know what the vet says when you do get to take her in. Good luck to you!

Avatar f tn Hello. You have done a good job by bringing this to the forum. There is a possibility of a partial seizure. But you should also consider something called as eye tics. These are not so uncommon in infants. You may need to get an EEG done. A video EEG is preferred. It has the advantage of letting us see the brain waves during such an episode or up rolling of eyes. Did he have any significant birth complications?
Avatar m tn my stepdad has been recently diagnosed with a seizure disorder. He feels more sick on the medication than he did beforehand. Hes constantly throwing up from being so nauseous , he explains what he says his limbs are gonna explode, he also gets pounding headaches. He is on 1500mg 2x daily. Anyone else experience anything like this??
Avatar f tn when i FINALLY got an after hours vet on the phone the advise was that it was probably a seizure and to give her 1/4 of a motrin. does this sound correct and what would cause a seizure in a perfectly healthy dog ?
Avatar n tn A few minutes later he was throwing up. Then got really tired afterwards. He does have a seizure disorder. And is taking medication 2 times a day. Why did this happen? Im scared and don't really know what to do. Was it the weed that made him do this, or the medication he's taking? I don't want him to do it again but I'm afraid he'll want to and that one of these times he's not gonna gain consciousness....
