smoking

2006603 tn?1331329327 There are many risks with second hand smoke exposure even for ppl who are not pregnant. Second hand smoke can cause under developed lungs, increase the chance of sids, low birth weight, baby can develop asthma and a bunch of other things too. Its good your fiance doesn't smoke in the house or around you but he should get into the habbit of not smoking in the car either. The nicotine can settle into the fabrics which is the same as smoking a cigarette while being in the room with the baby.
1117137 tn?1345227905 is it just me or is second hand smoking SO annoying? i think my radar is just super tuned in right now, but it seems like people just light up and leave their used butts, everywhere! i understand that it is a free world, but i guess i just find it even more bothersome, now that i have another life to support inside me. i will go as far as pulling my shirt over my face as i walk by it, and i don't care who sees that or what they think.
Avatar f tn I smoked on cigarette today but that's the first cigarette I had since I got pregnant I mean I'm sometimes around my uncle who smokes everyday and I heard second hand smoke is worse so I was wondering was it harmful to my babygirl when I did smoke that cigarette?
Avatar f tn Even second hand smoke can be harmful. Ask them to smoke outside and not around you. Visit smoke free houses. Just the smell can make some women nauseous.
Avatar f tn I seat down and basically told him the results for second hand smoking and how that was much worse than actually smoking. So we came to the agreement that he would just smoke outside when we come over & he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar f tn You and baby are fine unless the smell makes you physically ill.
Avatar f tn Look if you're that worried about your baby then seriously just stop going over there. Think about it if you will. You either be alone or go to your grandma's where you will inhale second hand smoke which is way worse than smoking itself. It's terrible that your gma is like that but if she is indeed like that then just stop going over there. She obviously doesn't care to stop so just stay home and try to stay occupied. Your babies health is of the utmost importance.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 weeks pregnant and used to cig smoke but wondering if smoking Shisha at a hookah lounge or out of a hookah is fine??? Its legal but I'm just curious.
Avatar f tn If your baby is born into a smoking household, he/she has innumerable health risks associated with second hand smoke. Best to never start smoking.
Avatar f tn my bf smokes not inside but I still smell it off his clothes n if I go to a bbq at a family member house I have second hand smoke. ..I try n walk a way cus I know its bad to breath that in...all I think about is having one I'm craving it...what should I do ...
Avatar n tn t tell they were until this lady literally exhaled the smoke almost in my face as she walked by and I definitely inhaled some second hand smoke -- it was that strong. I literally had to get off the phone and ask them were they serious. I just got a new job and will be expected to take a drug test next week. I normally wouldn't think much of that episode, but am somewhat concerned because I definitely inhaled some of the second hand smoke as they walked by.
Avatar f tn Look up some articles if you want to know the effects of smoking. You don't want to put anything into your body tat isn't good for either of you while you are pregnant. I don't know of any doctors who would encouraged you to continue smoking unless you are stressing out more from not smoking.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much. I really never drank before and didn't do drugs so my only thing is my smoking. But the other problem is that if second hand smoke causes the same thing, my Child's father and I live together and he smokes a pack a day or so and doesn't plan on quitting. So as for now that is my milestone. It's hard to quit when you're around it constantly.
Avatar f tn I quit cold turkey the second I found out I was pregnant I was already in my second trimester when I found out! Me&&baby are fine and I never had any problems or issues! I personally think it's an excuse because the mother doesn't have the will power to actually quit for time being to ensure her baby is healthy....but that's just my opinion!
Avatar f tn I used to smoke, but when I found out I was pregnant I quit cold turkey. Smoking and second hand smoke can lead to respiratory problems with your baby.
Avatar f tn Technically yes second hand is worse. I know a lot of women that smoke while pregnant as well as ones that were around it there entire pregnancy. All of those women had completely healthy babies with no complications. I smoked and was around smoke my entire pregnancy with my first son. I was even told by the doctor the risks of quitting were higher then cutting down due to stress so i was told to cut back as much as possible and quit later if possible.
Avatar f tn Did your OB offer any suggestions on how to quit smoking? If not you should as him how to do this while pregnant. I am so not judging you for smoking but PLEASE know this is REALLY bad for your baby. It can cause all sorts of problems. I pulled this info off the CDC website for you.
Avatar f tn s risk of developing respiratory (lung) problems. Second hand smoke has been shown to be just as harmful. All of this information should be enough reason for you to quit for the sake of the baby and I know plenty of pregnant women who did it "col turkey", which studies show works better then all pharmaceutical interventions. I am not sure what pill you are talking about, but I assume that it is Chantix, whis is not safe during pregnancy.
8182713 tn?1419265366 Nope you're not wrong at all! My bf smokes & he knws how much i hate it or when he comes up to me after he smokes..it's really bad for you to smell that it harms you & the baby..the baby can come out with any type of defect! i understand where your coming from & he's the father of the baby..but the baby health & your health comes first..even if you're not smoking it's still second hand smoke because you're inhaling it..
1580703 tn?1651904887 I too have developed asthma at 57 years of age, or maybe earlier and didn't know it. I too like you thought it may have been from second hand smoke, but I don't think you can get this from second hand smoke after researching the subject. COPD on the other hand is associated with smoking. My condition on the other hand may be due to a hiatal hernia or either allergens, which I plan on getting checked out soon.
Avatar f tn m due May 2nd! And non-smokers are always the ones to jump and say things about pregnant women smoking whenever it is statistically proven that women that don't smoke have more babies born with asthma than women that do smoke.
Avatar f tn My partner still smokes and I get his second hand smoke I tell him not to but he says its hard lol I'm early on in pregnancy like 14 weeks and find it kinda disrespectful at times so I can totally understand where you are coming from hun
1565702 tn?1295292830 Especially since cigarette prices and taxes were far lower back then than they are these days, I can only imagine how truly out of hand my chain smoking might get then.
Avatar f tn Once the baby is born, though, second hand smoke is a huge factor and using a patch or ecig would be much better for the baby.
Avatar f tn Can totally relate. I'm 17 young I know. But even before I got pregnant, I was like this. I hated being around people that smoked and I would hold my breath when I would first smell in like passing someone who was smoking just because of second hand smoke. I wouldn't do it dramatically so they would notice but just for myself. And when I got pregnant it was the same.
