Hi, I am male 36yrs old. I have had Seborrheic Dermatitis for 15yrs. I have it on my face, head, back, ears and chest. The worse area affected is my face, around my nose. I have used Steroid cream, herbal medicine, aloe vera plant and antibiotics. At present I am using Aveeno Cream and Steroid Cream 0.05%. My skin has not been clear for the last 6mths. I am also on anti-depressants as I suffer from depression due to my skin condition. Is there any advice that you can give me.

It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

I've been told I have seborrheic dermatitis and doing research on natural treatments, I always read about it being associated with HIV, which does worry me, because about 7 years ago, I had unprotected sex, with someone who's status I'm not aware of. So why is SD associated with HIV?
Initially, diagnosed with Contact dermatitis. Then other dermatologists say Seborrheic. Is there anything out there to lighten up scarring on especially the face from the effects of Seborrheic Dermatitis naturally? If not, over the counter. Hi, I am a 20 year old male, and back in November I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis on the sides of my nose. My Dermatologist prescribed me two creams Clotrimazole and Hydrocortisone. I have been using these creams since November; however, I have yet to see any significant improvement. Also he told me I have acne under my eyes which also seems to outline the Dermatitis, and he told me to use 2.5% Benzolye Peroxide.

The other possibility that I has thought of was seborrheic dermatitis since the site involved is common for both eczema and seborrheic dermatitis and they closely resemble each other in physical appearance but the lesions of seborrheic dermatitis usually presents as yellow, flaky lesions. A biopsy skin and allergy tests can differentiate between the two and confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to comment precisely beyond this stage.

Protar k is specifically used for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. Salibet contains a steroid and can be used in seborrheic dermatitis. you should continue the same treatment. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
To anyone who can help. I have had a really bad case of scalp Seborrheic dermatitis for the past several years. I have tried everything under the sun to get rid of it and nothing will work. I have tried every kind of oil and shampoos.
It is covering my whole scalp and they are very thick scales that even makes my hair grow slow because it has to grow through these scales.
This "bout" of Seborrheic dermatitis started about 5 years ago.
