Common Questions and Answers about Seborrheic dermatitis vinegar

seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar f tn I have been researching this online and think it is seborrheic dermatitis. I have been using clotrimazole cream twice daily as suggested on the JUST ANSWER DERMATOLOGY site for 3 days now. My question is: what are the stages of healing of this problem? Now I have much more "crusting over" and it is very dry and more itchy than before beginning the use of the cream. By the description I've given do you think it is in the healing process? Thank you ahead of time for your opinion.
1566037 tn?1304298609 Hello, From the symptoms it can be due to seborrheic dermatitis or eczema skin. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Treatment usually involves use of antifungal, anti inflammatory and sebo suppressive or Keratolytic ingredients.
Avatar m tn Zinc Shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis along with Kerastase Nutritive Bain Oleo-Relax Smoothing Shampoo/conditioner. I also take Viviscal Hair Growth Supplements for the thinning caused by seb-Derm. But most of all I have reduced my sugar intake to minimize yeast production. My reason for the above regimen is because I became cautious about long term use of all the topical steroid creams that eventually thin or damage the layers of skin.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am male 36yrs old. I have had Seborrheic Dermatitis for 15yrs. I have it on my face, head, back, ears and chest. The worse area affected is my face, around my nose. I have used Steroid cream, herbal medicine, aloe vera plant and antibiotics. At present I am using Aveeno Cream and Steroid Cream 0.05%. My skin has not been clear for the last 6mths. I am also on anti-depressants as I suffer from depression due to my skin condition. Is there any advice that you can give me.
Avatar f tn Skin diseases such as allergic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis can cause itching in the ear just as they do elsewhere. These are treated in the same way that they are treated elsewhere in the body. The diagnosis is made by otoscopy (looking inside the ear). Steroid creams are used in persons with allergic skin diseases affecting the ear. Dry ears tend to accumulate flakes of dry dead skin. This can be caused by reduced secretion of ear wax or excessive cleaning.
Avatar n tn f you think you have lice, after you wash your hair, rinse it with a mixture of white vinegar and water (half and half). Lice do not like vinegar and will give up residence.
Avatar n tn It is not unsual for Seborrheic dermatitis(as it looks) to respond slow to nizoral creme. It is ideal to continue for sometime,as recommended.ok?
Avatar n tn So my derm diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis, they gave me all sorts of shampoos to try but none work. I've had this for months now, and finally after expermimenting with different diets i found that food was not causing it. The seborrheic dermatitis that is all over my hair is also all over my face and now spreading to the back of my ears and side of my neck. I finally concluded the reason why i get it. It seems everytime i was my hair even if i use just water i get a flair up.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar m tn I had this. It seemed to be seborrheic dermatitis, and seemed to respond best to Nizoral shampoo, but I don't know how your hair type would like that shampoo. If diluted white vinegar isn't too drying, you could try rinsing with that. I cannot use any conditioner as it causes problems for me, blocking pores. I also found out I have celiac disease, so it was a side effect of digestive malabsorption. So find out if you have any intestinal problems going on.
Avatar n tn Actually, these chemicals may have dried up the scalp so much that you either have psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. Continued use of lice-killing shampoos will only make the condition worse. SEE YOUR DOCTOR after reading this link about psoriasis vs. seborrheic dermatitis: http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

Avatar n tn I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur?
Avatar n tn Hi, Rash under the arm pits may be due to several things. It may be due to a sweat rash, atopic and seborrheic dermatitis , contact and allergic dermatitis , folliculitis and hidradenitis suppurativa. How would you describe the rash? Is this itchy? For how long has this been present ? Do you have any known allergies? Avoid using any deodorant at this point. Wash the area only with mild and bland cleansers. If excessive sweating occurs ,try deodorant sprays instead of roll ons.
Avatar f tn It could be seborrheic dermatitis. I have had the best luck with a neem shampoo. Also the cause of my problem was malnutrition from an absorptive disorder (Celiac). Improving the diet to eliminate junk food and increasing vegetables and lean meat and decreasing empty carbs will probably help. Take a probiotic and odorless garlic or oregano oil pills to get the systemic flora in balance too. If the skin is oily, rinsing in vinegar water can help.
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
