Common Questions and Answers about Seborrheic dermatitis upper lip

seborrheic-dermatitis

if someone has seborrheic dermatitis patches around the lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a common skin condition that affect many people.
When I saw the dermatologist she did not want to treat me for this area instead she wanted to first treat me for this other skin condition that she felt was seborrheic dermatitis. For the last seven years, onset was during my pregnacy with my twins, I have had a slightly reddend area that has somewhat of a hyper exfoliation to it. I have managed to keep this area not a problem by being extremely careful of what I use on my face.
I am now in a big fix,if i shave the lesions are very prominet on my upper lip area and on corners of mouth. If I grow moustache because of my age(32 years) and premature greying I am forced to apply hair dye. Can anybody help me/advice me?
Hello there, The differentials of your condition could be seborrheic dermatitis, allergic dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis. Streptococcal infections may cause rash with crusting and pustular lesions. Fungal infections may also present in the face. Avoid using any cosmetics till it heals completely. A physical examination is necessary for correct diagnosis. I hope it helps. Best luck and take care!
I also have photos to help explain what I mean. I'm a 23 year old man and the skin above my upper lip is really not pleasant looking. I think it stems from constantly shaving when I was growing up, since I was paranoid about how dark and thick my upper lip hair came in. I tried shaving in the opposite direction and that made things worse. I began tweezing but still- it looks awful, like it is infected.
Now that Im in my thirties I still got it and it has traveled to my face started on one side of forehead with a few irritated red dry severely itchy spots that now in my eyebrow and part of my nose, upper lip and on my chin. Everyday they reappear with the white flake that itch. I notice they burn turn real red even weep around smells, smoke, even hot air as if they could breath. I know the rule no itching or suffer possible transfer to other parts of face.
Also It used to only be located right under my nose but now its spreading wider across my entire upper lip. When it gets really dry in the mornings it can sometimes create cuts in my skin that bleed. There is also another small patch on my bottom lip that flares up as well but not as often as my upper lip. It looks like the same type of rash. I've shown many doctors this but unfortunately have not been able to see a dermatologist for this.
Hi! I have had a rash above my upper lip for awhile now. It is in between the upper lip and my nose directly in the center and only in the center. It is slightly red and looks like there are wrinkled ridges. It burns when I put hydrocortisone or any moisturizer on it. I put vaseline on it b/c I thought it was dry skin and that does not bother it but it does not make it better either. I am not sure what it would be. It does not look like perioral dermatitis. Any idea of what it might be?
I have had a problem on my lip for over a year and a half now! On my upper lip (moustache area) there is a patch of dry skin. Within the dry skin there are small cuts going in different directions and are getting extremely worse. I have been to the doctor several time and have been given a variety of skin creams and hydrocortisone (steroids) none of this worked. On it own its gradually started getting better it was never fully gone but the patches and cuts wer reducing.
It could also be perioral dermatitis which is a common facial skin problem and presents with itchy, dry or tender small red spots that appear most often around the mouth, also on the chin, upper lip and cheeks. Moisturizer and gentle soap can help and usually goes away on its own. However, if the symptoms persist, antibiotics are prescribed by your doctor. Sulfur is used to treat many kinds of skin disorders including acne, seborrheic dermatitis and scabies.
It first appeared on the lower lip and started spreading across and then to the upper lip. I though it was my lip balm (blistex) so I got rid of it and got a new balm (plamers) but it's still there. It's about 2 weeks now. Please tell me what caused it and what I can do to get rid of it.
(I also noticed my face look really broken out and I had been going through a lot of stress at the time so it made sense) Three months ago I started getting a burning sensation just above my upper-lip [mustache area] and some slight pinkish coloration as well... My lips were also extremely chapped [chapped stick did not work at all]. I also noticed dry skin on my penis...
I have recurring Seborrhoeic dermatitis. Its on my scalp and upper lip where my mustache would normally be. I notice if I dont shave, after about 3 days its gets very bad on my upper lip. Then I shave, and its all red and raised from shaving. I usually will apply some Hydrocortisone 0.2% and it clears up quickly. So shaving seems to help. Is there anything else I can do? I really want to grow back my mustache and beard.
I have a facial skin condition that has been diagnosed as seborrheic dermatitis and rocacea. The doctors that have seen my condition have not seen anything similar and so are not positive on the diagnosis. The condition appears to be onset by extremes in temperature and has the following progression: A few small white pustules form on my chin and under my nose that rapidly progress to maybe 50 small white heads covering my entire chin and under my nose.
The next morning, I saw a large whitehead growing, larger than a normal pimple, but nonetheless, a whitehead. It grew in size and was located at the corner of my mouth, bottom lip, but not solely on the lip...a bit on a bit off. Anyways, day two, I went in and popped it like I normally do a pimple. When I did, whitish fluid came out but the bump was still raised. Along w that, clear fluid couldve been oozing out as well but that could just be from opening it up.
The skin around my mouth and the lips are flaky and chapped, and, a month ago, some white dots grew in the center of my upper lip on the side close to the oral cavity. I have to stretch my lips to see them clearly. The white dots do not hurt, but they are new. I went to see the doctor and he prescribed me "ketoconazole (2%) for lips, metronidazole (0.75%) for skin around mouth" for 2 weeks and he didn't seem to be concerned about the white dots.
025%) (the doctor also diagnosed me with atopic dermatitis)after using that for months it helped it clear up a little bit. The skin above my upper lip wasn't as flaky any more but it was still very dry and still bright red. Once I put makeup on it would be even more noticeable, but I couldn't go out I'm public or to school without makeup on because it was bright red and very noticeable.
It usually occurs in areas of the body that have many oil-producing glands, including the scalp, face, more specifically on the eyebrows, the bridge and sides of the nose, and in the crease between the nose and lip . The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not completely clear but may be associated with overgrowth of a normal skin fungus. There is no specific test for diagnosing seborrheic dermatitis. The diagnosis is usually based upon a person's history and physical examination.
Hello, Since the rash was present above the upper lip and then involved the chin, It can be seborrheic dermatitis. The other possibility would be perioral dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity.
Hello, You need to get checked this dry skin for any seborrheic dermatitis. It seems to affect all my hair above the upper lip but I never had this problem anywhere else on the face. Please post a detailed treatment of what should I buy and do for each day. And approximately how long it takes to see results (I'm an idiot that abandons stuff if it doesn't work quickly). I've tried removing the part that covers the hairs with a needle but it doesn't seem to do any good because it irritates the skin even more and it seems as if the dead skin comes back.
I noticed some redness on my upper lip a few months ago. After a while it would go away, but not completely. The past couple of weeks it would stay around pretty much all day. A few days ago, my chin was itching and irritated. So, I shaved all the hair off today. It's a red rash, it's irritated, but I don't see white heads. It looks like it spread a little to my neck and cheeks from shaving I presume. Any ideas what it could be and what I could treat it with.

Hello, It can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent.
Hello, Unfortunately the pictures could not be opened but from the symptoms it looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches.
But some dermatologists believe it is a form of rosacea or sunlight-worsened seborrheic dermatitis. The last possibility is of eczema. It is a form of chronic dermatitis. The treatment for all are different. So I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it examined. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
--no problems for about a month had a really bad illness with strep-throat symptoms after I got a bit better, I noticed a slight burning sensation between nose and upper-lip I was also not eating very well (mostly tea and coffee and carbs + fast food) [I have improvd my diet 1000%, since then] at night before I went to bed I was craving sugar so I would eat a ton of sweets and chug water three weeks later I still had the burning and noticed the upper lip area looked red noticed some dryness and
Hello, I am struggling with a red, itchy rash on my face, specifically around my nose creases and upper lip area, and also under my lip. For years I have dealt with it off and on. It is accompanied by a hot burning sensation and often becomes scaly and flaky. In the past it has become infected with staph and was treated with antibiotics. I use mild cetaphyl soap and eucerin to calm it. Sometimes I use olive or coconut oil.
