Seborrheic dermatitis of the groin

Common Questions and Answers about Seborrheic dermatitis of the groin

seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar f tn I tried a dandruff shampoo that contains zinc pyrithione, but this time I rubbed the shampoo directly on the spots instead of just the foam. My ears and groin are still red but the scales and scabs are virtually gone in less than 10 days and I only itch when the skin is wet (sweat or post-shower). Hey, this works. And I'm tired of itching. And now parts of my scalp are itching, on top of the ears, face, chest, belly area and groin.
1105008 tn?1258069920 How about the meds the Dr has me on i listed above should that cure the rash or just the Seborrheic Dermatitis
Avatar n tn There are no other symptoms, just flaky skin in the sides of my nose, and only the sides. it happens once a year, and started about a year ago (so i think it has to do with make up) it will probably disappear once more this spring, and come back next November. i will definitely look into Seborrheic dermatitis.
1473193 tn?1286922216 You will need a dermatologist to find out if the seborrheic dermatitis is causing the hair to fall out or if it's normal male patterned baldness or something else causing the hair to fall out. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn Does presence of HPV can alter the result of rapid test kit for antibodies after 4 months exposure ?
Avatar n tn I have had a HIV test in the past which came up negative and I am just worried that the Seborrheic Dermatitis is HIV related, all my exposures are listed above and any help would be much appreciated?
Avatar n tn I have had seborrheic dermatitis since I was a kid. I saw a doctor when it first showed up around my nose, and HIV has never ever been mentioned. It's just a type of dermatitis, not really that different from dandruff. It's very common. I just wash my hair with head and shoulders brand intensive treatment shampoo and it clears up my face just fine. I don't even need to use it daily, just during outbreaks.
Avatar n tn On the other hand, seborrheic dermatitis is a disease that causes flaking of the skin and usually affects the scalp or the skin on other parts of the body, such as the face and chest, and the creases of the arms, legs and groin. The exact cause is not known, but it may be caused by a fungus which may be confirmed with skin scrapings from the site and evaluating it under the microscope. This may occur at different areas of the body as well.
Avatar n tn Hello, Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent. Apart from this, these white patches can be due to pityriasis versicolor or vitiligo.
Avatar m tn I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar n tn Therefore, seborrheic dermatitis probably never is the only manifestation of HIV disease. If yours were due to HIV, you would be losing weight, having fever, and probably would have had one or more life-threatening infections by now. Every new medical condition "pops up suddenly"; diagnosis of something new says nothing about the cause. That you had a new sexual partnership a few years ago is equally immaterial.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs in areas of the body that have many oil-producing glands, including the scalp, face, more specifically on the eyebrows, the bridge and sides of the nose, and in the crease between the nose and lip . The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not completely clear but may be associated with overgrowth of a normal skin fungus. There is no specific test for diagnosing seborrheic dermatitis. The diagnosis is usually based upon a person's history and physical examination.
Avatar m tn Dermatologist also recommends the use of photodynamic therapy which involves the usage of UV- A, UV- B laser and red or blue LED light to inhibit the growth of the yeast and reduces the inflammation. If symptoms do not improve with ketoconazole then these treatment options can be planned. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis would be the primary diagnosis ( petaloid seborrheic dermatitis) with 'pityrisais rosea' coming as close second (Unlikely with such a long duration and scalp involvement) Guess would respond to ketoconazole cremes. Do consult your doc.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination,it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but it can be eczema, contact dermatitis rash(allergic or irritant0,seborrheic dermatitis ,fungal infection(ringworm) or psoriasis. Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels.
Avatar f tn I have been researching this online and think it is seborrheic dermatitis. I have been using clotrimazole cream twice daily as suggested on the JUST ANSWER DERMATOLOGY site for 3 days now. My question is: what are the stages of healing of this problem? Now I have much more "crusting over" and it is very dry and more itchy than before beginning the use of the cream. By the description I've given do you think it is in the healing process? Thank you ahead of time for your opinion.
Avatar m tn I have attached pics too. I have it on both sides of the nose. Its been this way for 5 months now. Lot of people have started noticing it now and its very embarrassing. Can I take any oral pills? Homeopathy? Any alternative medicines? I am willing to try anything and everything. 1). Manuka honey on face daily for 1 hr and wash off 2). Drinking Manuka honey and Apple cedar vinegar daily morning mixed with water 3). Noble's Zinc pyrithione soap for face (Best one so far) 4).
1282085 tn?1271747516 I would like to know the very best treatment options to getting rid of this forever if at all possible. How did I figure out how I had Seborrheic dermatitis..well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. I am sick and tired of the dry scalp and face peeling. I have been putting Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil on when I am on my way out the door to keep from being embarassed.
Avatar f tn Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. You can consult your dermatologist and discuss the treatment options of oral antifungals. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
