Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis patches around the lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a common skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar m tn Hello, I agree with you as the symptoms are suggestive of seborrheic dermatitis or eczema. The hypopigmentation can be related to both. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. For the hypopigmentation, nothing is to be done as mild cases improve on their own.
3227684 tn?1347373065 Hello, Recently, before my exams, I have developed symptoms that can suggest, according to what I read on the Internet, a seborrheic dermatitis.
Avatar f tn ve suddenly got this persistent itchiness on both my eyelids. It started out itchy then it swelled the next day which lasted for a couple of days with the help of hydrocortisone. Then when the swelling died down, both my eyelids became flaky. The itchiness remained and travelled all over my face. Only my eyelids showed visible flakes while the rest of my face just turned blushed from the scratching. It really feels inflammed.
Avatar n tn It may also be associated with seborrheic dermatitis . Seborrheic condition my present with some degree of scaling in the area. The scaling may be noted in the eye lashes. Is this applicable to your mother's case?
Avatar n tn There are no other symptoms, just flaky skin in the sides of my nose, and only the sides. it happens once a year, and started about a year ago (so i think it has to do with make up) it will probably disappear once more this spring, and come back next November. i will definitely look into Seborrheic dermatitis.

I wash my face with warm water to wash off the dead skin cells , then mosturise , but i dont know if this is just dry skin or an actual skin condition that requires medical advice. After i wash my face the area above my eyebrow leaks and is sticky?
1473193 tn?1286922216 You will need a dermatologist to find out if the seborrheic dermatitis is causing the hair to fall out or if it's normal male patterned baldness or something else causing the hair to fall out. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn Commonly affected areas include the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, creases of the nose, lips, behind the ears, in the external ear, and along skin folds on the middle of the body. This is recommended as treatment by the Mayo Clinic: You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Loosen scales with the fingers, scrub for at least 5 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.

Avatar n tn I have had seborrheic dermatitis since I was a kid. I saw a doctor when it first showed up around my nose, and HIV has never ever been mentioned. It's just a type of dermatitis, not really that different from dandruff. It's very common. I just wash my hair with head and shoulders brand intensive treatment shampoo and it clears up my face just fine. I don't even need to use it daily, just during outbreaks.
Avatar n tn Hello, Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent. Apart from this, these white patches can be due to pityriasis versicolor or vitiligo.
Avatar m tn I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar n tn Therefore, seborrheic dermatitis probably never is the only manifestation of HIV disease. If yours were due to HIV, you would be losing weight, having fever, and probably would have had one or more life-threatening infections by now. Every new medical condition "pops up suddenly"; diagnosis of something new says nothing about the cause. That you had a new sexual partnership a few years ago is equally immaterial.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs in areas of the body that have many oil-producing glands, including the scalp, face, more specifically on the eyebrows, the bridge and sides of the nose, and in the crease between the nose and lip . The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not completely clear but may be associated with overgrowth of a normal skin fungus. There is no specific test for diagnosing seborrheic dermatitis. The diagnosis is usually based upon a person's history and physical examination.
