Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide). Pimecrolimus topical lotion is also sometimes prescribed.

The cause for seborrheic dermatitis is yet unknown and there is no definite form of medical therapy as this condition may recur. Others have associated yeast infections with it. t use conditioner of any kind because it annoys my scalp. I get relief by soaking my scalp in a solution of warm water and Epsom salts though. If that is helpful you could take magnesium supplements like mag citrate and vitamin D3. We are so deficient in vitamins and minerals now that the soil is so depleted. So that's why we get skin problems.

I do understand that this may be discomforting and frustrating for you. This sounds like a case of seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis presents as greasy and yellowish scales on the body. This may involve areas of the face, chest, and scalp. Definite cause for seborrheic dermatitis is not known. Yeast infections have been associated with this. I would suggest that you continue with your medicated shampoos. There is really no definite treatment for seborrheic dermatitis.
To anyone who can help. I have had a really bad case of scalp Seborrheic dermatitis for the past several years. I have tried everything under the sun to get rid of it and nothing will work. I have tried every kind of oil and shampoos.
It is covering my whole scalp and they are very thick scales that even makes my hair grow slow because it has to grow through these scales.
This "bout" of Seborrheic dermatitis started about 5 years ago.
Psoriatic rash may involve the scalp and they may present with some patches of scales. There are cases of psoriasis which do not present with the scales. As for seborrheic dermatitis, they may present with some dryness and flaking of the scalp. The flakes of skin are greasy and yellowish. Do these apply to your case?
s a red dot underneath, and if I use a drying soap, it looks like a crater later. I also get scabs and sore spots on my scalp, which a dermatologist told me was seborrheic dermatitis. Is this the same thing? Would it have spread to my face for some reason?

In seborrheic dermatitis, the scalp is greasy and when severe may present with scales. The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is still unknown although yeast infections, stress and weather have been implicated.
A dermatologist is the best person to consult with this. Vigorous and frequent shampooing is the mainstay of therapy more than the type of shampoo being used. So wash your hair frequently and scrub the scalp vigorously. Discuss this with your dermatologist.
