Not knowing any better when I was younger I tried everything over the counter for acne, but I didn't have acne. I definitely do not have rosacea because I never got pustules. I have tried: Metrogel Finacea Desonate Nizoral Shampoo on my face head and shoulders on my face and Desonide lotion. the only thing that works is desonide lotion.

This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches.

Avatar n tn When I saw the dermatologist she did not want to treat me for this area instead she wanted to first treat me for this other skin condition that she felt was seborrheic dermatitis. For the last seven years, onset was during my pregnacy with my twins, I have had a slightly reddend area that has somewhat of a hyper exfoliation to it. I have managed to keep this area not a problem by being extremely careful of what I use on my face.

Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms, it looks like seborheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis would be the primary diagnosis ( petaloid seborrheic dermatitis) with 'pityrisais rosea' coming as close second (Unlikely with such a long duration and scalp involvement) Guess would respond to ketoconazole cremes. Do consult your doc.
Avatar m tn I think you most likely have seborrheic dermatitis on both face and scalp. Your doctor can prescribe a cortisone-based scalp lotion, that works better on localized patches than shampoos do. Best. Dr.

Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination,I cannot confirm a diagnosis but it can be dry skin(xerosis), eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or seborrheic dermatitis. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Wash the areas several times with fresh water.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar m tn I recently tried to cut my hair but since my scalp was so damaged I ended up shaving it. Find out that my scalp has some type of condition. I'm guessing seborrheic dermatitis but not completely sure. Here is a picture of my scalp, view at disgression. http://i49.tinypic.com/2qiog9j.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 21 year old male who was recently diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis. I began seeing red dots around my nose leading up to my eyebrows. At first i thought nothing of it, i thought it may be a reaction to ProActive which i was using at the time. I immediately stopped using the ProActive, and began applying light Burn/Skin Irritation cream. The problem seemed to persist. I started using aloa and some loations thinking it may simply be, my skin is dry.
