Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
577507 tn?1218265629 The widely present yeast, Malassezia furfur is involved, as well as genetic, environmental, hormonal, and immune-system factors. Side effects to inflammation may include temporary hair loss. It could also be due to Psoriasis of the scalp. Scalp psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis can be difficult to differentiate. Both are common conditions that affect the scalp. In addition, they share similar symptoms, such as itchy, red, scaly skin and burning /soreness of the scalp.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 21 year old male who was recently diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis. I began seeing red dots around my nose leading up to my eyebrows. At first i thought nothing of it, i thought it may be a reaction to ProActive which i was using at the time. I immediately stopped using the ProActive, and began applying light Burn/Skin Irritation cream. The problem seemed to persist. I started using aloa and some loations thinking it may simply be, my skin is dry.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar m tn Hi, You are most probably suffering from seborrheic dermatitis. This may require use of both ketoconazole shampoo and cream at the same time or seperately. You should revisit your doctor to clarify this doubt. Hope this helped.. Let us know if you have any other queries.
Avatar n tn can percacet make you feel very itchy all over is that one of the side effects
Avatar m tn If it's the outer third of the eyebrow, you should get your thyroid checked. If you have flaking and scaling, like you have dandruff in your eyebrows, then it's probably something fungal. If it's not super red and inflamed, you could try applying some hydrocortisone cream to it. If it helps, it probably is some sort of organism causing irritation and the hair loss, and something like ketoconazole cream or even lotramin would be the thing to do.
Avatar m tn I recently seen dermatologist and she told me she honestly did not know what it is, but gave me oral antibiotic, and combination of zinc soap and ketoconazole cream since seborrheic dermtitis may be a suspect condition. The ketoconazole burned my skin and didnt help, and the zinc soap does not help much either. I came back to her and she confirmed it is adult acne and some kind of dermatitis which cannot be cured.

Avatar f tn Hi You might be suffering from scalp (seborrheic) dermatitis or scalp eczema or scalp psoriasis. The exact diagnosis depends on clinical examination. Seborrheic dermatitis presents as dry skin on the scalp, which flakes off (dandruff). The skin on the face, behind the ears, eyelids, nose and chest may also be affected. Symptoms of scalp eczema may include greasy yellowish scales that may turn flake off along intensely itchy and inflamed red scalp.
Avatar f tn Did any of u ladies ever use ketokonazole 2% cream during pregnancy? I have seborrheic dermatitis and I'm afraid to use the cream, which I really need!! Was anyone else in a similar situation? What did u do?
Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis would be the primary diagnosis ( petaloid seborrheic dermatitis) with 'pityrisais rosea' coming as close second (Unlikely with such a long duration and scalp involvement) Guess would respond to ketoconazole cremes. Do consult your doc.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor about my seborrheic dermatitis that I have in my nasal folds and inner eyebrows. I was told to use prescription ketoconazole shampoo in those areas. Despite using this for a couple weeks now no improvement in my symptoms. Every time I take a shower cold or warm those areas become infested with flakes/peeling-like skin once my skin dries from the water. Even on the off days when I don't use ketoconazole it will do that.

1282085 tn?1271747516 I would like to know the very best treatment options to getting rid of this forever if at all possible. How did I figure out how I had Seborrheic dermatitis..well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. I am sick and tired of the dry scalp and face peeling. I have been putting Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil on when I am on my way out the door to keep from being embarassed.
