Avatar n tn ) take a peek and thought it looked like eczema or jock itch. Next, tried Lamasil for about a week and a half. Eventually, it do away...however, a few weeks after that ordeal, I started to itch REALLY bad in the hair area above my penis below my belly button...mostly the thick 'n curlys. Also, very small raised portions all over, kinda looks like goose bumps but do not go away.
Avatar m tn Also fighting jock itch at the moment in the groin and elbow creases, and I heard people with dermatitis issues are more vulnerable to jock itch as well. Is this true? Also have seb. dermatitis in nose creases but that is pretty easy to keep at bay. If anyone can offer advice, it would be really appreciated!
Avatar n tn If i sit down for a period of time or if i am in bed with the covers on it become much worse. I asked my doctor and she had told me it is jock itch or just a sweating problem but i can garantee it is not either of those thing. I know ppl who have jock itch and it isn't that and it isnt causing me to sweat but to become damp and clammy. It might have moved to my feet too. They look normal but they constantly get wet. Even if im just doing nothing they sometimes feel wet and gross.
Avatar m tn s why I suspected seborrheic dermatitis, as I also read that the two diagnoses (atopic and seborrheic dermatitis) are often confused, and that itch is an important distinguishing factor. Thank you once again, with best wishes!
Avatar m tn Do I have jock itch? I have been working out regularly and having protected sex with my girlfriend. Recently, I have had a rash appear on my pubic area. After searching my symptoms (itch, rash, dry flaky skin, red) I assumed that it was jock itch. I purchased some Clotrimazole and have been using that three times daily. The medicine helps with the itch but the rash is still there and it doesn't seem to be making any progress. I have been using the cream for about a week.
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to seborrheic dermatitis, eczema or rosacea. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites).
Avatar n tn It started as a jock itch, i used anti-fungal cream for 2 months. After the first 2 weeks the jock itch marks went away, but the redness and itchiness stayed, after 2 months i gave up on anti-fungal and did some research. The scrotum skin is very absorvent compared to normal skin and anti-fungal creams can easily cause dermatitis there. So i used a weak hidrocortisone cream for about 1 month (after 2 days the itchiness was all gone!) and it was back to normal.
Avatar f tn Hello, This began around a year ago and I think stems from a rash I had in my groin area (not jock itch). My GP prescribed Econazole. I used it for a couple weeks and the rash went away. But then this sticky/tacky condition started. I have been to the dermatologist a few times and have been told it was intertrigo. It is not as my skin is clear and no redness. I am a healthy 34 year old and do not have any weight issues etc. They told me to use some powders such as zeasorb AF and gold bond.
Avatar m tn About one year after the first encounter, around 2005, I got mild Seborrheic Dermatitis. I have had it on the scalp and a little bit around the nose for years, and it is controlled by head and shoulders. I think it may have even come in the armpit a couple of times. The dermatologist told me not to worry but also I have had a few bouts of jock itch over the years too if I ever wear the same underwear more than a day or two. Those are my only symptoms which could point to HIV.
Avatar m tn Though it is called jock itch, it may not itch always. Usually a reddish rash or area of darkened or tanned skin appears on penis/scrotum/groin fold/adjacent thighs. This is often accompanied by a burning or tingling sensation. Also the diagnosis of jock itch appears to be correct since the sensation responded to application of an antifungal and the rash has dried up and is becoming scaly. The treatment may take about 4-5 weeks to produce complete results.
Avatar n tn The underarm itch may possibly related to the scalp problem, though, because a condition called seborrheic dermatitis (seborrhea, for short) can affect both. The cause is unknown--even infants get it--but it can cause itch in both the locations you mention. Perhaps the scalp was infected from scratching, but seborrhea itself is not infectious. Seborrhea can be controlled, but it comes back when it wants to, so you needn't hold that against your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Skin diseases such as allergic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis can cause itching in the ear just as they do elsewhere. These are treated in the same way that they are treated elsewhere in the body. The diagnosis is made by otoscopy (looking inside the ear). Steroid creams are used in persons with allergic skin diseases affecting the ear. Dry ears tend to accumulate flakes of dry dead skin. This can be caused by reduced secretion of ear wax or excessive cleaning.
Avatar n tn But there would be no harm if you tried a jock itch cream or something used for dermatitis - like a cream used for eczema.
Avatar f tn Hello, The other possibility that I has thought of was seborrheic dermatitis since the site involved is common for both eczema and seborrheic dermatitis and they closely resemble each other in physical appearance but the lesions of seborrheic dermatitis usually presents as yellow, flaky lesions. A biopsy skin and allergy tests can differentiate between the two and confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to comment precisely beyond this stage.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am male 36yrs old. I have had Seborrheic Dermatitis for 15yrs. I have it on my face, head, back, ears and chest. The worse area affected is my face, around my nose. I have used Steroid cream, herbal medicine, aloe vera plant and antibiotics. At present I am using Aveeno Cream and Steroid Cream 0.05%. My skin has not been clear for the last 6mths. I am also on anti-depressants as I suffer from depression due to my skin condition. Is there any advice that you can give me.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago, I contracted jock itch and it spread in my groin area, with both inner thighs affected. It was cured eventually, however the discoloration had been there for already 4 years and it has not faded as much as I thought it would. It's still brown and is still visible even after all this time. I have been recently applying cocoa butter cream to it as I've heard it helps scars face, but is there anything else I can do? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hi, In all your description, you have not mentioned a word about 'Itch', a characteristic symptom of Jock itch and you seem to have more of pain and irritated skin. Jock itch gives an intense pleasurable itch with small pimples/rashes, quickly spreading to near by areas and not localised.Your case more looks like a local skin inflammation / infection , so that you may most likely need an antibacterial, anti inflammatory cream.
Avatar m tn After browsing and reading up on from alot of different sources I concluded that this was simply Jock itch. No problem, head to the chemist to grab some Lamisil. Treated for a week with this and very minimal improvement, the itching was so intense sometimes it would wake me from my sleep. Following about 4 nights of this, decided I should head to the doctors.
Avatar n tn Jock itch, staph, dermatitis, eczema, etc. You need to see a doctor.
