Avatar f tn Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done. Although dermatologist’s can diagnosed the condition by visual examination but differentiation can be done from psoriasis or eczema by a biopsy of the skin. Hence get it examined from a dermatologist to rule out this condition in your child’s case.
Avatar n tn Left ear itches/burns in the canal and sometimes on the outside skin of the ear, also sometimes I get the feeling like its leaking some type of liquid throughout the canal(I'm not sure it is, but it feels that way), when I touch/push down tragus there's a click sound, when swallowing/jogging/turning my neck clicking sound increases to rattling, **after taking a shower it starts to itch even more every time**. Been this way for a few years now and is only getting worse.
Avatar m tn I have for the past year had these black dots (see picture) in my ear. I have eczema of my inner ear canal in both ears (i do not apply any lotions), and I am regularly 'yelled' at by my ENT to stop cleaning my ears daily with cotton buds. These black dots only appear in my right ear, they have not gotten any worse, I have tried scratching at them and they will look white as some do in the image. Anyone have an idea of what they are? or how I can treat/remove them?
Avatar m tn Hello, Please elaborate on the description of the rash and the symptoms so that a list of differentials can be made. Usually seborrheic dermatitis presents in this area but it can be contact dermatitis or eczema also. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas especially under the nose or anywhere on face.
Avatar m tn Hello, Protar k is specifically used for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. Salibet contains a steroid and can be used in seborrheic dermatitis. you should continue the same treatment. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
Avatar f tn Skin diseases such as allergic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis can cause itching in the ear just as they do elsewhere. These are treated in the same way that they are treated elsewhere in the body. The diagnosis is made by otoscopy (looking inside the ear). Steroid creams are used in persons with allergic skin diseases affecting the ear. Dry ears tend to accumulate flakes of dry dead skin. This can be caused by reduced secretion of ear wax or excessive cleaning.
Avatar n tn Last October, I went to my dermatologist because the back of my head from one ear to the other had been really itching and I had raised - but non pus small bumps.. He told me that I had an infection of my hair follicles and prescribed Doxycycline. I took it for 10 days and all but an area behind the lower part of my right ear went away. I went back to him in December - when I couldn't take the itching any more and he perscribed Doxycycline again.

Avatar m tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily).
Avatar n tn It randomly varies in severity but eventually (every two weeks to every two months) the ears have to have large pieces of skin removed from the ear canal, sometimes even in cast form of the entire canal including the eardrum. They are usually fairly wax laden as well. The ear canal skin under that which is removed is occasionaly red and inflamed, but not usually, and the characteristic signs of psoriasis have never been present.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar f tn But last year at the age of 27, my dermatologist diagnosed me with rosacea (which my father has) and seborrheic dermatitis. When I started researching about both I found that seborrheic dermatitis is associated with HIV. Then, not long after I got ringworm on my face. A year later I now live on a different country and colder climate, I now have eczema. Are my skin conditions related to HIV? I haven't had an HIV test.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face and scalp. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar n tn It is true that seborrheic dermatitis is more common in people with HIV, but that doesn't mean that the condition indicates enhanced risk of having HIV. Seborrheic derm is an exceedingly common condition, which includes everybody with dandruff!. And your dermatologist is correct: the seb derm associated with HIV tends to be severe and difficult to control, pretty much exclusively in people with advanced immune deficiency, i.e. those with overt AIDS.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be due to seborrheic dermatitis.
Avatar m tn Recently I saw mild skin issues under nose, back of neck and back of left ear. It my be seborrheic dermatitis. No other symptoms. Is it possible it is indication of HIV. can it show as early as 3-4 years in case of HIV and is it possible if its the only symptom? I am not sure if its S. dermatitis or eczema/dry skin. Last week I gave oral sex to a guy. No cum but some precum. He said he is neg and tested in December. After I spitted and also rinsed my mouth.
Avatar f tn Low potency topical glucocorticoids are usually recommended first for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. These treatments are available in creams and lotions for the face. The topical steroid should be applied daily until the dermatitis improves; they can then be gradually discontinued. If it persists, it would be best to see your dermatologist for further evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
