Common Questions and Answers about Seborrheic dermatitis hair loss eyebrows

seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar m tn You may need topical medications for this. Differentials will be a fungal infection and seborrheic dermatitis.
Avatar m tn If it helps, it probably is some sort of organism causing irritation and the hair loss, and something like ketoconazole cream or even lotramin would be the thing to do. I would go see another dermatologist about it before trying to treat it yourself. Dandruff shampoo should help a bit, but when I had eyebrow and face "dandruff" (seborrheic dermatitis), it was a course of ketoconazole cream that did the trick, and not the dandruff shampoo.
Avatar m tn Then my eyebrows started thinning the same way my hair did. Now i can visibly see hair falling out all over my scalp but the thing that worries me the most is the hair falling from my eyebrows. My scalp flakes a lot and it always produces these little hard keratinized bulbs when the hair falls our.Other symptoms include eyelash fall, styes on my eyes, small pimples on my face, changes in my skin, itchy forehad, bleeding scalp, and beaus lines on my nails, along with minor pitting.
Avatar m tn Finally, will the lost hairs grow back, because the hair loss is beginning to make my eyebrows look asymmetrical. I'm 21 year old male, if that's relevant. Thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male that is experiencing progressive hair loss. Lately, I have noticed these yellowish/brownish,waxy crusts on the crown area of my scalp. These waxy crusts attach themselves to hair follicles, and if picked at, come off with clumps of hair (sometimes 4 or 5 hairs together). These crusts do not itch or burn. I also have some redness/flaking skin occurring around my nose, eyebrows and forehead.
Avatar n tn If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition. Accordingly a suitable alternative should be used instead.
Avatar m tn It is an autoimmune disease characterized by unpredictable, nonscarring hair loss of the eyelashes and eyebrows. In such cases, to promote growth of eyebrows, just eat a healthy protein rich diet and take some multivitamin supplements for some days. The most important nutrients are biotin, silica, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and vitamin B6. There are many eyebrow growth products in the market, but their efficacy has not been scientifically proven.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis or sweat dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily).
Avatar m tn , because the cream is kinda thick and sticky and when I rub it into my eyebrows it just rips the hair out....So if I used the shampoo would that be enough, or do I need to use both????....Any help and understanding would be much appreciated...Thanks.
Avatar n tn At this point, there is really no effective medical therapy for hair loss. If your hair loss is associated with tinea and seborrheic dermatitis then the underlying disorders need to be addressed first. Hair loss also has a genetic basis. Male or female pattern baldness may follow a hereditary pattern. Treatment of the tinea and seborrheic dermatitis may help resolve the hair loss. Creams may not be sufficient for scalp infections. You may need oral antifungal therapy.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar n tn I have a terrible case in my eyebrows right now and it is so embarrassing. I have had hair loss, both from inflammation and from my attempts to get out the flakes. A photographer at my school took a photograph of me up close when I had huge scales in my eyebrows but I was too embarrassed and frankly, frightened and caught up in the moment, to say no. I hate this. I am looking for something to control it as well.
Avatar m tn If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a trichologist. Regarding the hair loss, unless and until the hair follicles are intact, hair will regrow. Otherwise you may need hair transplantation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn I am also experiencing hair loss from brows and head .. anyone has figured out that what is this?
Avatar f tn Is this the symptom of seborrheic dermatitis? is seborrheic can cause hair lost? i can see my the hair regrowth so far, but they are very thin.
Avatar f tn This skin disease is aggravated by sweating and humidity. To treat seborrheic dermatitis in infants, gently shampoo the hair everyday with a gentle shampoo while scales are present. After scales have disappeared, you may reduce shampoos to twice weekly. Then rinse thoroughly and brush softly. For stubborn patches, apply some mineral oil to the baby's scalp and wrap warm, wet cloths around his head for up to an hour before shampooing. Take care that the cloth does not get cold.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar f tn I do have dandruff in my hair. I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis by my dermatologist at the age of 21. Not knowing any better when I was younger I tried everything over the counter for acne, but I didn't have acne. I definitely do not have rosacea because I never got pustules. I have tried: Metrogel Finacea Desonate Nizoral Shampoo on my face head and shoulders on my face and Desonide lotion. the only thing that works is desonide lotion.
Avatar f tn But I saw the symptoms of HIV. There is Seborrheic Dermatitis which is dandruff.
Avatar m tn I think this condition is called seborrheic dermatitis. Sometimes it heals alone, and for a couple of days every this is normal and than it shows up again. Can you please help me by telling me what may be causing this problem and how to heal it and stop it from coming again? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn The fact that there is associated hair loss,a fungal infection and seborrheic dermatitis have to be considered here .These are conditions that usually involve the scapl and may lead to hair loss. Take antihistamines for the itching. Also, continue using the topical medications and try to observe your condition. If there are any possible known triggers like abrasive soaps and cleansers, food, heat, smoke and alcohol, avoid them as much as possible.
