Avatar m tn flare ups this time of year red around cheeks and nose and red patches on forehead running into my scalp need help
Avatar m tn Yes! I have started keeping a diary of my flare ups, which are pre menstrual. Also could it be that your water is too hard? I installed a water filter in my shower & my seb-Derm ceased up until 7 days before my menstrual cycle. So I tried that organic raw vinegar (Braggs) and the inflammation ceased immediately but the smell grossed me out. The vinegar requires multiple applications.
Avatar n tn So my derm diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis, they gave me all sorts of shampoos to try but none work. I've had this for months now, and finally after expermimenting with different diets i found that food was not causing it. The seborrheic dermatitis that is all over my hair is also all over my face and now spreading to the back of my ears and side of my neck. I finally concluded the reason why i get it. It seems everytime i was my hair even if i use just water i get a flair up.
Avatar m tn the most common symptoms of atopic dermatitis are dry, itchy, red skin and seborrheic dermatitis causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas. My sincere advice is to get a biopsy skin done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn ve tried cutting dairy from my diet (I used to suffer eczema as a child and heard dairy can cause flare ups) and this seems to have reduced the dryness slightly, but my cheeks have been bright red in the morning the last couple of days. I don't have spots (apart from the odd one or two i get each month) or get breakouts, it's basically just red/blotchy upper cheeks and dryness on my upper cheeks around my nose. No itchiness or burning.
Avatar m tn ve been using it twice a day, and it has really cleared up my facial seborrheic dermatitis. Today I filled a prescription for a 45 gram tube. My problem is that the prescribing information from the manufacturer says to use the product for two weeks, but the doctor did not put any time period on the prescription (just says to apply twice a day).
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed w/ both perioral and seborrheic dermatitis and I am trying to find a facial cleanser and moisturizer that reduces flare-ups. In the past I was battling acne and had luck w/ neutrogena acne wash; my problem is that a lot of cleansers have sodium lauryl sulfate (or derivatives) of it including the neutrogena. Do you know of cleansers/moisturizers that are effective in controlling all three skin conditions?
Avatar n tn It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis, which is an inflammatory version of dandruff. I have it in my eyebrows -- it's white and flaky, with no redness until recently, and it started off in one part of one eyebrow, and then it spread. Now recently it has spread to my entire eyebrow. I've tried a lot of things. Using Nizoral shampoo once a day seems to help a little. I also take the following supplements: evening primrose oil, multivitamins, cod liver oil, and sometimes, probiotics.
Avatar n tn Venessa, thanks you very much. This information is very helpfull. They also talk about plaques, i think that's what it is (i'm not from a english speaking country...so my english is not so good) . Because of the places and because it's appearence is different then what's on my cheeks. (and not 'classical; what you read about it) I was doubting if this was rosacea. Know I'm confinced it is rosacea. I have got erythromycine and antihistamine, that didn't work.
Avatar f tn I've been told I have seborrheic dermatitis and doing research on natural treatments, I always read about it being associated with HIV, which does worry me, because about 7 years ago, I had unprotected sex, with someone who's status I'm not aware of. So why is SD associated with HIV?
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis, and after reading about it I found it can also affect the eyebrows. It is a chronic but relatively easy to treat skin condition that supposedly results from too much oil on the skin and commonly affects the scalp and eyebrows, but can also affect the face and chest. I have no idea if this is it, but I have been experiencing a little hair loss on the scalp, but once treated, the hair will grow back.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar m tn Hello, i have been suffering with flare ups of my seborrheic dermatitis and a dry mouth. I cannot decipher whether the dry mouth is real or i am just perceiving that i am suffering with said symptom. However, the seb derm flare up is a very real physical symptom. Can anxiety/stress manifest itself in this manner? I have been worrying chronically about a potential HIV exposure and i recently had an important exam. Any response/advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

Avatar n tn When I saw the dermatologist she did not want to treat me for this area instead she wanted to first treat me for this other skin condition that she felt was seborrheic dermatitis. For the last seven years, onset was during my pregnacy with my twins, I have had a slightly reddend area that has somewhat of a hyper exfoliation to it. I have managed to keep this area not a problem by being extremely careful of what I use on my face.

Chronic allergic and inflammatory conditions of the uvea, iris, conjunctiva and optic nerves of the eyes also are treated with methylprednisolone.
Avatar n tn I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur?
