seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar n tn I think I might switch back and forth between this and the head and shoulders, unless the T/Sal continues to work this good on its own.
Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.

Avatar f tn ve had this problem since for about seven years now, it first started as just dandruff, but a lot of it, nothing would take it away; head and shoulders made it worse and so did selsum blue. Then the flake have gotten as big as the diameter of a 12oz soda bottle cap. Then i noticed that these large flakes looked more like scabs, and as they fell off really big red spots developed with blood under them, it has been on the top half of my scalp the whole five years.
Avatar m tn But what worries me is that, I have developed seborrheic dermatitis which is mild on the scalp, nose, and sometimes appears in the armpits. It does not appear if I use head and shoulders shampoo on the body a couple of times a week. If I don't use the shampoo, it comes back. Does this mean my immune system is compromised? Other than the seborrheic dermatitis I have not experienced any other symptoms matching with HIV. Can I look forward to a negative result when I test?
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms seborrheic dermatitis needs to be ruled out. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas especially under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.

Avatar f tn This is because eczema often presents with itchy, red, dry and flaky skin. If the rash is non itchy then dry skin or seborrheic dermatitis of the face are important differentials to be ruled out. Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am 26, been losing hair since 2002. I inherited dandruff problem from my father. I take head bath everyday, if i dont my scalp gets filled with dandruff and extremely itchy. I used Head & Shoulders shampoo everyday which worked for dandruff but not itching. And it seemed that the shampoo worsened the hair loss problem; I started using herbal essence shampoo since last 15 months, i use it everyday. Dandruff and itching are controlled but I still loose lot of hair.

Avatar f tn But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face. White flakes have appeared first time on my face. I am very scared does this resembles dermatitis? I also have little bit itching on face. Face doesn't look dry to me..I have oil on nose. No red rash as of now. Will it occur in late stage? Should I visit my doctor again. Or wait for some days n see. Or this can be side effect of acne gel I was using.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been getting electrolysis on my face and have recently been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Seborrheic dermatitis may have been caused by the damaging of the hair follicles. I have very mild seb derm but it flares up about four days after an electrolysis session on my face. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Low potency topical glucocorticoids are usually recommended first for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. These treatments are available in creams and lotions for the face. The topical steroid should be applied daily until the dermatitis improves; they can then be gradually discontinued. If it persists, it would be best to see your dermatologist for further evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn s guaranteed to stop seborrheic dermatitis forever, but treatments can control its signs and symptoms. In case of recurrent seborrheic dermatitis, topical and oral antifungals, immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are useful. In addition some lifestyle measures like using antidandruff shampoos daily, avoiding harsh soaps and detergents, wearing cotton clothes and covering the itchy area with a dressing to prevent itching may also help. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn it helped alot with the scales and redness on my face and under beard and nose folds and eyebrows. But i still have a redness itchy forhead. Does the seberhic derm also just make a redness without scales?
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 20 year old male, and back in November I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis on the sides of my nose. My Dermatologist prescribed me two creams Clotrimazole and Hydrocortisone. I have been using these creams since November; however, I have yet to see any significant improvement. Also he told me I have acne under my eyes which also seems to outline the Dermatitis, and he told me to use 2.5% Benzolye Peroxide.
Avatar m tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis, hives, sweat dermatitis or heat rash. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Desitin or calamine are very helpful. Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps.
Avatar n tn For seborrheic dermatitis, diagnosis can be confirmed by clinical examination and biopsy of the skin samples. Hence you should get it clinically examined from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. Once diagnosis is confirmed treatment can be started. Basically it is topical antifungals for both, but for inflammation of seborrheic dermatitis, steroids may also be needed. They help symptoms by reducing inflammation, itching and discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hi You might be suffering from scalp (seborrheic) dermatitis or scalp eczema or scalp psoriasis. The exact diagnosis depends on clinical examination. Seborrheic dermatitis presents as dry skin on the scalp, which flakes off (dandruff). The skin on the face, behind the ears, eyelids, nose and chest may also be affected. Symptoms of scalp eczema may include greasy yellowish scales that may turn flake off along intensely itchy and inflamed red scalp.
Avatar n tn I have tried a number of different prescription shampoos and foams, including Loprox, Luxiq, and Selenium Sulfide 2% lotion, as well as the over the counter Selsun Blue, T-Gel, and several variants of Head and Shoulders. None of these seem to have any consistent effect on it. The only effective treatment I have discovered so far is exposure to sunlight. This cleared up the scales, but I still had horrible dandruff. After a week or so, the scales returned, and my dandruff is just as bad as ever.
Avatar m tn s a red dot underneath, and if I use a drying soap, it looks like a crater later. I also get scabs and sore spots on my scalp, which a dermatologist told me was seborrheic dermatitis. Is this the same thing? Would it have spread to my face for some reason? Pictures: http://s577.photobucket.
Avatar f tn Initially, diagnosed with Contact dermatitis. Then other dermatologists say Seborrheic. Is there anything out there to lighten up scarring on especially the face from the effects of Seborrheic Dermatitis naturally? If not, over the counter. After different meds from different dermatologists . Finally on one that is currently helping, for now, but face is scarred from where the bumps were appearing. Never had blemishes on face like this. Any suggestions to ask my dermatologist?
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dermatitis skin, seborrheic dermatitis or rosacea skin. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin which causes redness and dryness of skin.
