seborrheic-dermatitis

Avatar n tn I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur?
Avatar n tn This may involve areas of the face, chest, and scalp. Definite cause for seborrheic dermatitis is not known. Yeast infections have been associated with this. I would suggest that you continue with your medicated shampoos. There is really no definite treatment for seborrheic dermatitis. If the condition is severe, topical corticosteroids may be able to help. Discuss this with your dermatologist, so that the corticosteroid with the right potency be given you.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been getting electrolysis on my face and have recently been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Seborrheic dermatitis may have been caused by the damaging of the hair follicles. I have very mild seb derm but it flares up about four days after an electrolysis session on my face. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Low potency topical glucocorticoids are usually recommended first for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. These treatments are available in creams and lotions for the face. The topical steroid should be applied daily until the dermatitis improves; they can then be gradually discontinued. If it persists, it would be best to see your dermatologist for further evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis on my face. I was asked to take sporanox capsules by the doc for a week and consult the doc soon after. The fungal infection subsided within that period but I did not consult the doc after that. The infection has returned once again . I would like to know if I should take the capsules once again for a week and then consult the doc or meet the doc before taking them.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar m tn Hello, Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent.
Avatar n tn It is not unsual for Seborrheic dermatitis(as it looks) to respond slow to nizoral creme. It is ideal to continue for sometime,as recommended.ok?
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar f tn Initially, diagnosed with Contact dermatitis. Then other dermatologists say Seborrheic. Is there anything out there to lighten up scarring on especially the face from the effects of Seborrheic Dermatitis naturally? If not, over the counter. After different meds from different dermatologists . Finally on one that is currently helping, for now, but face is scarred from where the bumps were appearing. Never had blemishes on face like this. Any suggestions to ask my dermatologist?
1282085 tn?1271747516 I would like to know the very best treatment options to getting rid of this forever if at all possible. How did I figure out how I had Seborrheic dermatitis..well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. Avatar f tn It is been 1 year since i tested (2 years from the encounter). 4 months ago I developed a flaky white skin on my face looks like seborrheic dermatitis. I have tried different kinds of moisturizers but without any benefit. I have never had any issues with my skin and I have read that seborrheic dermatitis is strongly related to HIV, i also have red eyes and frequent migraines. When do HIV patients start developing seborrheic dermatitis? What other symptoms are developed with it?
Avatar m tn Dandruff on the face is characteristic of seborrheic dermatitis. It can be treated with selsun lotion (or shampoo) rubbed onto your rash. Persons with HIV can get severe seborrheic dermatitis but most people with seborrhea do not have HIV. that your seborrheic got worse is no reason for concern. 2. Did anyone ever got HIV from this sort of exposure No, not ever. 3. Do you believe vinyl glove will provide protection against infection and would oil temper it.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
