seborrheic-dermatitis

1473193 tn?1286922216 I have some problems with my hairs and with a scalp. Firstly I have the seborrheic dermatitis for five years, and nothing is helping, neither dozens of shampoos, nor folk remedies. And in the second place I'm loosing my hairs for last year. I can't suppose with what it may be related. My nutrition is healthy I think. I dare suggest that these two problems may be related, but i'm not sure. What would you may to recommend to me?

Avatar f tn I have never had any issues with my skin and I have read that seborrheic dermatitis is strongly related to HIV, i also have red eyes and frequent migraines. When do HIV patients start developing seborrheic dermatitis? What other symptoms are developed with it? When performing my last test alcohol was not completely dry on my finger + the final reading was before the 20 minutes mark set by the manufacturer.
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition. Accordingly a suitable alternative should be used instead. Among dermatologist recommended treatments are shampoos containing coal tar, ciclopiroxolamine, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione.
Avatar n tn There are no other symptoms, just flaky skin in the sides of my nose, and only the sides. it happens once a year, and started about a year ago (so i think it has to do with make up) it will probably disappear once more this spring, and come back next November. i will definitely look into Seborrheic dermatitis.
Avatar m tn I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

Avatar n tn It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur? My dermatologist says my SD is very mild and that it does not seem worriesome but is really starting to stress me out because I never had it before.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs in areas of the body that have many oil-producing glands, including the scalp, face, more specifically on the eyebrows, the bridge and sides of the nose, and in the crease between the nose and lip . The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not completely clear but may be associated with overgrowth of a normal skin fungus. There is no specific test for diagnosing seborrheic dermatitis. The diagnosis is usually based upon a person's history and physical examination.
Avatar m tn I have dermatitis in the eybrows...It's caused scaly, bumpy skin in the area and also is causing my eyebrow hair to fall out, it's very weak. I was given a Ketoconazole Cream and Shampoo, I was wondering if they serve the save purpose? Do I need to use both? or just one?, because the cream is kinda thick and sticky and when I rub it into my eyebrows it just rips the hair out....So if I used the shampoo would that be enough, or do I need to use both????....

Avatar f tn Hello, You need to get checked this dry skin for any seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. It is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity.
Avatar f tn I have had Roscea most of my life. The creams just dried my skin and made the condition worse, the antibiotic pills gave me stomach problems and were only temporary. Some gave me terrible headaches. I don't like the idea of taking too many antibiotics as my body will build up a resistence to them when I really need them. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Avatar f tn I have itchy, sore, inflamed redness/raised bumps on either side of my nose and under the nostrils. They "crust over" with whitish flakes then start the cycle of redness, etc all over again. This has been going on for about 2 months. I have been researching this online and think it is seborrheic dermatitis. I have been using clotrimazole cream twice daily as suggested on the JUST ANSWER DERMATOLOGY site for 3 days now. My question is: what are the stages of healing of this problem?
Avatar m tn Doctor told me is like a burning from the sun (heavy winter now in my country and no sun for days) and he gave me a cortisone cream for the face. I used the cream last night but today when i woke up i realize that in my ears, around my lips and mustache i get white flakes that go away when i touch them but keep coming back again soon after. Since last night i started using the cream my skin start peeling off. Is this a Seborrheic Dermatitis? If yes what is causing it?
Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis patches around the lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a common skin condition that affect many people.
