Avatar f tn I have itchy, sore, inflamed redness/raised bumps on either side of my nose and under the nostrils. They "crust over" with whitish flakes then start the cycle of redness, etc all over again. This has been going on for about 2 months. I have been researching this online and think it is seborrheic dermatitis. I have been using clotrimazole cream twice daily as suggested on the JUST ANSWER DERMATOLOGY site for 3 days now. My question is: what are the stages of healing of this problem?
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dermatitis skin, seborrheic dermatitis or rosacea skin. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin which causes redness and dryness of skin.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar m tn s why I suspected seborrheic dermatitis, as I also read that the two diagnoses (atopic and seborrheic dermatitis) are often confused, and that itch is an important distinguishing factor. Thank you once again, with best wishes!
1336893 tn?1275746728 For the past year randomly the areas around my nose and close to my mouth and spread out through some of my beard i get these bumps and redness.
Avatar f tn It has never been bad like it looks when I look up seborrheic dermatitis (which one doctor told me I had). I have found the redness is worse in the mornings, redness and blotchy across my upper cheeks. I have had two prescription creams from the doctor, one for seborrheic dermatitis and one for rosacea, both made my skin feel tight and more dry. I have tried everything under the sun in the way of creams and am currently using Liz Earle for dry/sensitive skin.
Avatar m tn and i was stupid i added some other over the counter creams so i can get rid of the redness/itch/ and bumps caused by the cream the derm gave me...
Avatar f tn but the thing which is hurting me a lot is the embarrasing redness and inflammation on my face, plz help me in this context.
Avatar n tn Differentials for scalp problems may include seborrheic dermatitis , tinea capitis and discoid lupus. These are just differentials and these may need to be excluded especially when this has been present for quite sometime.
3227684 tn?1347373065 Hello, Recently, before my exams, I have developed symptoms that can suggest, according to what I read on the Internet, a seborrheic dermatitis.
1566037 tn?1304298609 Hello, From the symptoms it can be due to seborrheic dermatitis or eczema skin. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Treatment usually involves use of antifungal, anti inflammatory and sebo suppressive or Keratolytic ingredients.

Avatar n tn Hello, It can be seborrheic dermatitis or eczema. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. Eczema is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated as treatment is diagnosis specific. I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to dermatitis skin or due to fungal infection or due to seborrheic dermatitis. First of all wear cotton clothes and don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin.
Avatar m tn my face has peeling redness around forehead and mouth area. i had this problems for more then a year. right now im just using moistureizer cream to prevent but it never goes away. it gets worse in the winter. at first, it just cracks and if i wash it than it gets red. it dosent itch and it looks like severe dry skin. so i used most of moistureizer out there, but it dosent heal. i even took biotin(vitamin) but never worked. so can u tell me what i have and how to cure it?
Avatar m tn I think seborrheic dermatitis does sound like the most likely diagnosis, and the new treatment plan seems appropriate for that. Acne is different and needs treatment with topical or oral antibiotics. Your doctor can help you with that, although it may be best to wait till the seborrhea goes away, so as not to confuse the issue. The fact that this rash affects your navel and privates seems to be making you anxious, but means nothing. That may be why you're feeling burning sensations.
Avatar m tn Hair in the areas have gone. Redness sometimes fades and becomes more white but comes back in the end. I have been to many dermatologists and used many steroid or antifungal creams but they didn't have any effect a bit. It is not stress related or psychological. I have a serious headache and think the reason might be this, whatever is? it just don't completely vanish. What might it be? help!
Avatar m tn the most common symptoms of atopic dermatitis are dry, itchy, red skin and seborrheic dermatitis causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas. My sincere advice is to get a biopsy skin done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I am a 29 y/o male, have a history of red, itchy, flaky eyelids. Recently the redness and flakiness have progressed to cover my cheeks, eyebrows, middle of forehead. The itchiness is now subsided and I am left with very noticeable hypopigmentation in these affected areas. There is a sharp line on both cheeks demarcating the normal area from the affected area. I wash with cetaphil face wash and afterwards the areas are extremely dry and flaky.
