Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. The other possibilities are of eczema, lupus erythematosus or dermatitis.
This is because eczema often presents with itchy, red, dry and flaky skin. If the rash is non itchy then dry skin or seborrheic dermatitis of the face are important differentials to be ruled out.

Without examination,confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be seborrheic dermatitis.Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky,dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily).
I have managed to keep this area not a problem by being extremely careful of what I use on my face. Most makeup ,face lotions and some foods will exacerbate it and if something irritated itseverely evoclin gel woul calm it down although I would only use 1-2 treatment because it would burn. This new doctor put me on desonide lotion I used it for 4 days and each day my condition has gotten worse.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but since your mother has rosacea, so it can be either rosacea or seborrheic dermatitis. I have been getting electrolysis on my face and have recently been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Seborrheic dermatitis may have been caused by the damaging of the hair follicles. I have very mild seb derm but it flares up about four days after an electrolysis session on my face.
Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
I have never had any issues with my skin and I have read that seborrheic dermatitis is strongly related to HIV, i also have red eyes and frequent migraines.
When do HIV patients start developing seborrheic dermatitis?

When performing my last test alcohol was not completely dry on my finger + the final reading was before the 20 minutes mark set by the manufacturer.
Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood.
Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.
I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
hi 28 year old male i have Seborrheic Dermatitis however lupus has not bean ruled out i have negative ana test but have had lots of systoms anyway just wanted to know does Seborrheic Dermatitis cause white spots they appear on my Shoulders I also get a load of red spots on my back and Shoulders ive also bean getting a shaking in my right arm for the past couple of days
It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs.
When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur? My dermatologist says my SD is very mild and that it does not seem worriesome but is really starting to stress me out because I never had it before.
Differentials for scalp problems may include seborrheic dermatitis , tinea capitis and discoid lupus. These are just differentials and these may need to be excluded especially when this has been present for quite sometime.
If the irritation persists then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Eczema and seborrheic dermatitis have to be ruled out.
