seborrheic-dermatitis

1282085 tn?1271747516 well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. I am sick and tired of the dry scalp and face peeling. I have been putting Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil on when I am on my way out the door to keep from being embarassed. Please help as I am desperately trying to find a cure to this on going problem.
Avatar m tn of Seborrheic dermatitis started about 5 years ago. I did have it before and a dermatologist gave me some kind of oil. Not really sure what it was called. I would go back to the doctor the only thing is I don't have insurance. Anything would be of help. One other thing. I have a sore in one particular spot that has stayed there this whole time I have had this Seborrheic dermatitis. It is sore to touch and is also covered with these scales and is hard. Im in very desperate need of help.
Avatar f tn Hi This may be a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis presents with overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands. In most cases, they may present with scales and may affect other parts of the body like the chest and the face. Have you had this assessed by your dermatologist? You may need medicated shampoos for this. This condition is shown to be aggravated and triggered by stress and weather changes.
1566037 tn?1304298609 Once that initial crazy rash went away, I continued to have horrible itching around my eyes and the crusty patches on my scalp got worse and spread around my hair line and behind my ears. Now months later, it is back to normal. Just the same mild redness around the nose and some patches on the scalp that I've always had. This was a one time thing and VERY strange to me and I am still concerned and worried about what would cause an explosive flare up like that?!
681148 tn?1437661591 t add hair fixatives to my hair and scalp. I typically add olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil after I wash my hair in the shower. I've been taking extra B vitamins, too. This is really driving me mad, because it's making me miserable.
Avatar n tn I have suffered with Seborrheic dermatitis for over two years, I have seen doctors and a Dermatologist and i came across this hair oil called Somaluxe Argan Oil and my red patches have nearly gone (I have bee using it for around a week every night) and the scales have disappeared. I had it quiet bad round my mouth, ears and eyes and it has nearly gone...... I'm so happy with the result!
Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar n tn Differentials for scalp problems may include seborrheic dermatitis , tinea capitis and discoid lupus. These are just differentials and these may need to be excluded especially when this has been present for quite sometime.
Avatar f tn This skin disease is aggravated by sweating and humidity. To treat seborrheic dermatitis in infants, gently shampoo the hair everyday with a gentle shampoo while scales are present. After scales have disappeared, you may reduce shampoos to twice weekly. Then rinse thoroughly and brush softly. For stubborn patches, apply some mineral oil to the baby's scalp and wrap warm, wet cloths around his head for up to an hour before shampooing. Take care that the cloth does not get cold.
Avatar m tn If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a trichologist. Regarding the hair loss, unless and until the hair follicles are intact, hair will regrow. Otherwise you may need hair transplantation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn At this point, there is really no effective medical therapy for hair loss. If your hair loss is associated with tinea and seborrheic dermatitis then the underlying disorders need to be addressed first. Hair loss also has a genetic basis. Male or female pattern baldness may follow a hereditary pattern. Treatment of the tinea and seborrheic dermatitis may help resolve the hair loss. Creams may not be sufficient for scalp infections. You may need oral antifungal therapy.
Avatar n tn This may be associated with seborrheic dermatitis which may be fungal in origin. The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not exactly known. Weather and stress have been factors in the development of seborrheic dermatitis which may present as yellowish and greasy scales on the skin. Has your doctor considered seborrheic dermatitis here?
Avatar m tn My 5 year old daughter have rash in her hair that and we have been told is is dandruff and was given a sulfur hair oil to used however if is not applied one day the condition worsen. She also have numerous birthmarks over her body she have on on her back that break out in a sore once and become larger after. Can the these both be cancerous. I know of an American solider that had a birthmarks on his buttock and was sore once and later died of Melanoma resulting from this birthmark.
Avatar m tn , because the cream is kinda thick and sticky and when I rub it into my eyebrows it just rips the hair out....So if I used the shampoo would that be enough, or do I need to use both????....Any help and understanding would be much appreciated...Thanks.
Avatar n tn The most likely differential for this is a severe case of seborrheic dermatitis. The cause for seborrheic dermatitis is yet unknown and there is no definite form of medical therapy as this condition may recur. Others have associated yeast infections with it. While some have implicated stress and environmental factors. You may seek second opinion for your condition. Does anyone in the family also have a similar condition?

Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
Avatar n tn ve had this for months now, and finally after expermimenting with different diets i found that food was not causing it. The seborrheic dermatitis that is all over my hair is also all over my face and now spreading to the back of my ears and side of my neck. I finally concluded the reason why i get it. It seems everytime i was my hair even if i use just water i get a flair up. Shampoos and conditioners only make the matter even worse. The longer my hair is in water the worse it gets.
Avatar n tn evening primrose oil, multivitamins, cod liver oil, and sometimes, probiotics. I also have a humidifer in my room. If you want, message me and we can discuss this more in depth. For now, I think you should make an appointment with a dermatologist who might be able to give you oral antifungals. (If he confirms that it is seborrheic dermatitis.) I haven't tried oral antifungals, just topical stuff like Nizoral shampoo, which has antifungal properties.
Avatar n tn hi 28 year old male i have Seborrheic Dermatitis however lupus has not bean ruled out i have negative ana test but have had lots of systoms anyway just wanted to know does Seborrheic Dermatitis cause white spots they appear on my Shoulders I also get a load of red spots on my back and Shoulders ive also bean getting a shaking in my right arm for the past couple of days
Avatar n tn Try using extra virgin olive oil on your Skin and hair. Use it as a conditioner to reduce dandruff and provide some moisture to the scalp. Wash it out the next day, but keep treating your hair with it to help with itchy, dry scalp. I think that's why a hot sauna worked best for your condition...the moisture.
Avatar m tn I had this. It seemed to be seborrheic dermatitis, and seemed to respond best to Nizoral shampoo, but I don't know how your hair type would like that shampoo. If diluted white vinegar isn't too drying, you could try rinsing with that. I cannot use any conditioner as it causes problems for me, blocking pores. I also found out I have celiac disease, so it was a side effect of digestive malabsorption. So find out if you have any intestinal problems going on.
