Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms the first possibilities are of contact dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. People with seborrheic dermatitis produce too much sebum (the natural skin oil). Later, pityrosporum yeast grows excessively in the sebum, sometime along with bacteria, making the dermatitis more persistent.

Avatar m tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis, hives, sweat dermatitis or heat rash. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Desitin or calamine are very helpful. Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps.

Psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis may sometimes be hard to distinguish fom each other. A consult with your primary physician may be able to help. Psoriasis may present atypically as nonscaly reddish bumps that may appear like rash.

Avatar n tn Differentials for the skin condition will be seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis , a fungal infection and dermatitis. I do not want to cause unnecessary worrying here. What I have posted are only differentials. These are conditions that may likely explain your symptoms. Seborrheic dermatitis may present as greasy scales over the scalp, chest and armpits. We commonly refer to these flakes as dandruff.
Avatar n tn Differentials for scalp problems may include seborrheic dermatitis , tinea capitis and discoid lupus. These are just differentials and these may need to be excluded especially when this has been present for quite sometime.
Avatar f tn This is because eczema often presents with itchy, red, dry and flaky skin. If the rash is non itchy then dry skin or seborrheic dermatitis of the face are important differentials to be ruled out. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches.

Avatar m tn I have been looking online and I think it is Seborrheic Dermatitis. I am on an Immunosuppresant (6MP) and I understand that a weakened immune system could be a factor in the development of SD. Does anyone think this could be SD before I call my Doctor and try and tell him what I think it is and request treatment! Many thanks. [IMG]http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c326/bevldavies/Face.
Avatar n tn It was initially described as seborrheic dermatitis with a bit of rosacea, then eczema. After stopping the Antibiotics the rash has come back and now appeared on my chest quite suddenly. The rash on my face however is different from my initial break out and has appeared across my cheek area instead of the naso labial folds which seem to have calmed down now. The dermatologist says it looks like SD BUT is not a typical manifestation of it.

Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis would be the primary diagnosis ( petaloid seborrheic dermatitis) with 'pityrisais rosea' coming as close second (Unlikely with such a long duration and scalp involvement) Guess would respond to ketoconazole cremes. Do consult your doc.
Avatar f tn It is sad to say but most dermatologists want to play plastic surgeon and do not want to deal with rashes? (I have gone to some of the best and end up seeing the assistant because its a rash and not a filler or botox injections) After spending a lot of money was told it must environmental, even though I have changed everything possible that could cause it and also told "I don’t see anything" after being treated for 4 months.??
