Avatar f tn Hi, Perioral dermatitis, a condition related to acne vulgaris, consists of red papules that may appear microvesicular that typically affect the nasolabial folds, perioral area or perioccular area. Avatar n tn Hi, I have a history of acne, but this rash on my face is different and is strictly around my nose and mouth. Is it Perioral dermatitis? or could it be something else? and what should I do to treat this condition?
Avatar f tn Hi, the probabilities of the itching with rashes are Atopic dermatitis, Contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, prickly heat, warts and drug reaction. Some possibilities of rash with blisters are infected acne vulgaris, bacterial infection, dermatitis etc. blisters are gateways for infection, and so make sure you put antibacterial cream on it twice daily. Oral anti-histaminics and corticosteroid against prescription, which may help to alleviate these symptoms.
Avatar f tn Fearing that those would leave me marks I went to dermatologist and was prescribed acne clear gel, hidrate lotion and adaferin gel. I have been using acne gel and hidrate lotion from one month my acne settled well. But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face. White flakes have appeared first time on my face. I am very scared does this resembles dermatitis? I also have little bit itching on face.
Avatar f tn Seborrheic dermatitis could have been another possibility but it does not explain the pimples and acne. Perioral dermatitis is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil(non perfumed) should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. If the symptoms are not controlled by topical antibiotics, then oral antibiotics may be needed.

Avatar f tn t dermatologists or doctors but I am of the believe that NO- ONE knows your skin better than you and my recent breakouts are DEFINITELY a combination of hormonal acne and acne caused by Malassezia (also known as Malassezia Folliculitis which is often misdiagnosed as acne vulgaris, to the detriment of the sufferer) as opposed to P. Acnes.

Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.

Avatar n tn Hi, probably it is because of seborrheic dermatitis, you might be having acne problem. In some people, a yeast (fungus) called malassezia grows in the sebum along with bacteria. Antifungal treatments, such as ketoconazole (Nizoral), are often effective. “Try using the shampoo daily until your symptoms are controlled, then cut back to two or three times a week.
Avatar m tn Topical tacrolimus or pimecrolimus does not exacerbate acne rosacea and is very effective for thin plaques of seborrheic dermatitis. These are the agents of choice for the treatment of combined seborrheic dermatitis/rosacea. Hence you should first get the diagnosis confirmed and then get the treatment prescribed. You need to get it examined from a dermatologist. He will examine it by a dermatoscope and maybe send a skin biopsy sample containing few skin cells for examination to the laboratory.
Avatar m tn I think this condition is called seborrheic dermatitis. Sometimes it heals alone, and for a couple of days every this is normal and than it shows up again. Can you please help me by telling me what may be causing this problem and how to heal it and stop it from coming again? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Hello, These bumps can be due to acne vulgaris, seborrheic hyperplasia or flat warts (although less likely). Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Mostly my cheeks though, and it extends to my neck and ears. I do have a history of mild acne which has occurred on my forehead and chin but nothing to this extent. I'm dark skinned, or more like tanned so when i get acne i do have hyperpigmentation. Would cortisone help? If not is there any medication you could suggest.
Avatar m tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat it with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed w/ both perioral and seborrheic dermatitis and I am trying to find a facial cleanser and moisturizer that reduces flare-ups. In the past I was battling acne and had luck w/ neutrogena acne wash; my problem is that a lot of cleansers have sodium lauryl sulfate (or derivatives) of it including the neutrogena. Do you know of cleansers/moisturizers that are effective in controlling all three skin conditions?
Avatar m tn I used to put tons of bensol peroxide 10% and saltic acid on my skin I havent had acne for a year. Could this be damage from the harsh BP I put on my skin? When I shower it seems the make the skin red and irritated again. No over the counter lotion works probly because of the lanolin. Olive oil moisturises the skin but doesnt make it go away. If anything I feel that it heals better without olive oil it is almost gone now I will see if it comes back.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 20 year old male, and back in November I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis on the sides of my nose. My Dermatologist prescribed me two creams Clotrimazole and Hydrocortisone. I have been using these creams since November; however, I have yet to see any significant improvement. Also he told me I have acne under my eyes which also seems to outline the Dermatitis, and he told me to use 2.5% Benzolye Peroxide.
