seizure

2086351 tn?1333288676 It is not discipline. Even so-called "normal" individuals can experience seizures from flickering lights. The reasons are unclear, however it involves the pathways from the optic nerve to the brain. The difference between a diagnosed epileptic and the rest of us rests in the threshold at which the brain responds to such stimuli. This threshold may vary from day to day or year to year. An anti-seizure drug raises the threshold by blocking signals.
Avatar f tn My 8 yr old daughter just had her 2nd EEG. She has a history of learning disabilities, staring episodes and sleepwalking The first EEG was done on a digital 19 channel EEG and showed complex partial seizure tendancy. The abnormalities were very frequent and her former neurologist thought it may be a good idea to try her on trileptal. The second neuro we saw decided to repeat the EEG to see if the result was the same, then decide if meds were necessary..........
Avatar f tn s where a lot of the evidence of the dangers of stopping benzos cold turkey came from -- a psychiatrist in England who had worked at a rehab facility. Perhaps you could get your psychiatrist involved, or copy the information about the dangers of quitting benzos cold turkey. Of course, it's probably just as stupid to cold turkey quit methadone, but that's what these facilities do. Good luck.
Avatar n tn College - 2 ovarian cysts which caused pain but eventually resolved on there own - Migraines began at age 19 and eventually occurred about once a month, except during my first 2 pregnancies, my 3rd pregnancy I had migraines almost weekly - 3 episodes of severe vomiting and diarrhea that resulted in ER visits for rehydration.

Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, Your still in your teens so it's unlikely to be PPMS, the average diagnostic age is in the 40-50 age group because PPMS causes a 'slow' disease progression and it usually takes decades before the accumulative affects become evident. Theoretically for your age you'd still be withing the age range of pediatric MS, even rarer than PPMS but the diagnostic rules of RRMS would still apply....
Avatar m tn More recently he has shown me the cloudiness of cataracts on the annual exam, and even more recently shown the shadows of the PVD in each eye, which occurred post surgery. And most recently he has shown what he says is evidence of PCO in one eye. As a result I have an upcoming appointment to get a second opinion on that and the need for YAG later this month. So finally my question. Is Digital Retinal Imaging without dilation an effective method to screen for diabetic retinopathy?
Avatar m tn I had many neurological tests done and it was determined that my seizures were NOT a result of a head injury (my EEG tests were also normal). Without any hesitation, I was allowed to continue playing football for the rest of my high school career. Since my seizures, I have been put on Keppra and have been completely seizure free.
Avatar f tn I know of no convincing evidence that the allergies cause seizures. And to my knowledge, there are no published reports of seizures occurring due to allergies. However, if you feel strongly about this, there’s nothing wrong if you take extra precaution with construction dust with your son around. And make sure your son regularly takes his anti-seizure medications because skipping medications could trigger seizure also.
Avatar n tn The next time it happened (a couple of months later), it was pixelated and in the wrong order, and I could make out faces - but the middle of peoples faces was blank like someone erased the features. The last time was before Christmas and I also ended up with vertigo that started simultaneously (I have never experienced vertigo before) - the vision issue lasted about 1 1/2 hrs. again, but the vertigo lasted 8 weeks and was severe enough that I couldn't work and in fact, could hardly walk.
Avatar f tn Also a repetitive noise can do it too. This type of cause of seizure is not very common. i went to several docs before one would believe me. I use ear plugs when I know I may be some place that could cause problems like a concert. I keep the volumes turned down at home, and I try to make a mental note of what is playing when my seizures occur. Exiting the noise as soon as I notice things sometimes helps. Unfortunately it is difficult to go through life without noise if you can hear.

Avatar m tn My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite. Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything. So does Flexeril increase seizure risk or is that just for (diagnosed) epileptics? I don't want to add it to the oxy and have a attack.
Avatar n tn I am very discouraged at this point. I have essential tremor and take Primidone and an inactive thyroid and take synthroid and cytomel. Thank You.
Avatar n tn There is no major drug use reported, and no history in the family of epilepsy or any other seizure disorder. What could have caused this?
5126953 tn?1363983843 His doctor is somewhat correct, an EEG test doesn't always confirm epilepsy or a seizure disorder unless he's having activity related to a seizure at the time of the test. All of his EEG's and MRI's may show no evidence of seizures, however, that doesn't mean ignore his seizures, he needs treatment. Sometimes a seizure will leave evidence of a stroke which may or may not show up on an MRI. It doesn't sound like your husband is having strokes.
1874051 tn?1321497169 His EEG is abnormal with no seizure activity. He has a multitude of symptoms but nobody feels they are related to the chiari and nobody can tell me what they are caused from. We're on the search for a chiari specialist and will move wherever we need to in order to find the help for our guy. I appreciate the feedback I got from my earlier question about relocating. It's given me a place to start searching for a pediatric chiari specialist!
Avatar m tn After that he had monthly episodes of seizure. He also suffers from ADHD. At this point of time he is not able to speak more than two words in a row. His Hb is 8.9. He is on valporate, topiramate and levetiracetam. His MRI scan revealed "Assymetric Right Temporal Horn prominence without any difinite evidence of mesial scerosis" His walking pattern is also erratic. Most often he adopts "Toe Walking". When he walks slowly, which is rare, he walks alright.
489924 tn?1209491123 Hi, I would take the child to the emergency and have her checked, it kind of sounds like seizure. I have seen a kid have it before and it looked as you described, often after seizure there is no memory of it. The doctor might want to have an MRI done on her head to make sure everything is ok.
Avatar n tn The doctors dont think its feveral seizures (neither do I), he doesnt have a temperature to begin with, but sometimes has a slight temperature after/during the seizure. He has had an MRI and EKG done, there is some evidence to a seizure disorder, but the doctors are not looking into the body temperature factor. When he has a seizure he doesnt sweat and just goes blank, and most recently has vomited. They only last 1-4 minutes. Please let me know if you have heard of anything like this.
Avatar f tn ve noticed increased seizure activity and forgetfulness. Also, irritability and nervousness. Has anyone else had this or similar experience? Also, if so, what/if anything helped?
Avatar f tn They gave me four potassium pills at the hospital and sent me home and after that I had horrible panic attacks so I had to be put on the Zoloft for the panic attacks and it works but I now feel like a totally different person not because of the Zoloft but because of the seizure and they also said I was epileptic but I've never had one since or before.
Avatar m tn t know how to do a literature search. However, my Google research has thrown up only very limited anecdotal evidence of users complaining about floaters after Ostarine use, and then after much higher doses, for extended periods. I suspect the complainants haven't had RLE either. There is much more evidence (again anecdotal) of vision problems with SARM S-4 which appear to be yellowing of vision and loss of night vision. Though these appear to resolve with cessation.
Avatar f tn She was put on seizure medication, but seizures continued. She was also given bacterial and fungal medication, in case of encyphillitis, etc., Ran every possible test imaginable, all came back negative. Spinal Fluid showed elevated white blood cells. Doctors could not figure out what was causing her seizures. Seizure medication was changed, but seizures continued. She was put into a medicated coma to try and stop the seizures, but seizure activity continued. She passed away 6 weeks later.
572651 tn?1530999357 I am also one of the not so common MS'er. I have had seizures every time I've suffered a flare-up. My doctor isn't sure why this happens but to me it's a warning that a bad flare is about to start. My doctor upped my Lyrica to 150mg 5 x per day. This has certainly helped in that category. I haven't had one since a year ago last July. YEA!
