Avatar f tn The pubic schools seem safe and the kids in the area dont seem too punky. I will give public schools a try and if my son does well in it I will keep the public school support going. If I see that my son isnt learning well and may need a different style teaching or he is being picked on a lot then I will go for a private school.
11408025 tn?1417974109 I know it's different everywhere but over here private schools and public schools don't differ that much on the education side of things. Prove you just have to pay more for it. Both private and public will still have some craps teachers and some amazing ones .
Avatar f tn Even in my school years we had incidents unfitting for kids every once in a while. I think the public school system is just fine and all six of mine came out without any scars and make a pretty good living. Private schools have their own set of booger boos as well.
Avatar f tn Three states have considered school voucher programs, and 10 have taken up another ALEC measure that funnels public dollars to private schools via tax credits. Three states have considered the “Virtual Schools Act,” which spends taxpayer money on an online education model “few educators think is appropriate for young children.” So-called “Parent Trigger” laws designed by ALEC and the conservative Heartland Institute have come up in 12 states.

1310633 tn?1430224091 The problem with this article is it ignores the attempt to get rid of public schools and replace them with charters. Public schools are going to disappear and only the rich will be able to educate their children. Blaming the teachers, is mostly scapegoating. Where I live they have decided to close 5 elementary schools that are working well for the local children. They plan to rent out these schools to private charter schools. One mainly serves lower class children.
473493 tn?1236836912 Services can be provided by early intervention or the public schools in your area. You may want to look for behaviorally trained professionals to supervise a treatment program by checking www.bacb.com for a person in your area.
Avatar m tn Youths affected have included home schooled, those pulled out of the public school recently to be home schooled. and those attending the nearby public schools, One child now living overseas who resided in the area some time ago, and moved away before at least some others moved in has also shown same symptoms.
1530342 tn?1405016490 At least 178 teachers and principals in Atlanta Public Schools cheated to raise student scores on high-stakes standardized tests, according to a report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. http://news.yahoo.com/americas-biggest-teacher-principal-cheating-scandal-unfolds-atlanta-213734183.html Award-winning gains by Atlanta students were based on widespread cheating by 178 named teachers and principals, said Georgia Gov. Avatar m tn He does well when classes are structured and teachers are experienced, has been seen as having "an issue" by young teachers. Most of what this involves seems to be answering questions out of turn, without raising his hand, or talking to his friends. He seems to do much better in public school classrooms (where he has performed successfully in the so-called "gifted and talented" classroom) and in fact his public school teachers have never identified this behavior as abnormal.
Avatar f tn t been able to get any work done... I try and try but nothing seems to work... when I was actually in Public school I got just about all of my work done and had As and Bs. Every time I see my grades I want to cry.... I've been trying to convince my mom ever since she enrolled me into online school to please put me back in public school. I really need help to convince her I'm tired of being home all the time and not being able to focus on what needs to get done...
317217 tn?1456286778 I can't answer your question -but there are products that you can use to cover and still breast feed in public. I'm nursing my son and have had to feed him in public just a few times. I'm not excited about exposing myself - so I bought a nursing cover. I know I've seen "Hooter Hiders" advertised on this site. I have a product from Peanut Shell. If you do an internet search for 'peanut shell nursing cover' they'll come up - I just tried it. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I worked in public schools over 20 years. At Kindergarten age they go with another child unless they are known to get into trouble together. Boys will be boys and Yes they get into trouble and get disciplined (I hope Mamirez1 you did not try to justify your child's behavior with that saying IN FRONT OF YOUR CHILD- which I have heard some parents have done- I am sure you were in every way respectful of the teacher and the school. well done!
Avatar f tn It's wrong wrong wrong. Unless it is an Islamic school, I don't think this is ok at all. When I was in highschool, you could take a course that taught the theory behind all sorts of different religions. It was an elective, and frankly I took it because I found it interesting. It didn't teach that any of the religions were the one to follow, just how they began, evolved and the principals behind them.
11408025 tn?1417974109 It really depends on the area you live in and what schools you want to send your child. My daughter is in daycare, so she won't go to a preschool. The daycare has similar curriculum. My son will start there as well when I go back to work. Our daycare has a waiting list. Both of my kids were on the waiting list before I even was able to find out boy or girl.
206807 tn?1331936184 Bobby Jindal signed 35 bills into law Monday afternoon, including two pieces of education legislation that will change how public schools administer the ACT and handle prayer in schools. Since the session ended June 6, Jindal has signed 294 bills into law. The governor gave final approved to state Rep. Katrina Jackson's House Bill 724, which would allow students to gather before and after school and during "non-instructional" times of the day.
Avatar f tn Hey there and welcome back!! I know a bit about this...I was just in Toronto a few weeks ago. My parents live just outside there and I lived there for several years myself. This is a huge issue, as it should be. You know I am all for seperation of church and state. I also personally do not believe in prayer in the public school system (just me, no offense intended). And that applies to one and all. Equality is equality, end of story. I was shocked when this happened.
148588 tn?1465778809 ” We are offended. Several of our spouses and many of our members work in public schools, and many of our children attend them. We are certain they take God with them. We see first-hand the dedicated servants committed to the moral, ethical and emotional well-being of children as well as their academic preparation. We know the love with which counselors, administrators, classroom teachers and other staff work with the broad range of students.
Avatar f tn I know from friends who are now going through it that there are a lot of early detection of disabilities in the public preschools. I also found out when my insurance and GP gave me a hard time that the pediatric psychiatrist's cash fee was the same as my co-pay with the insurance. Just putting the info out there in case insurance or $$ is a problem. With our ADHD & Aspergers diagnosis out psychiatrist likes to see my son at least every two months.
Avatar m tn I would allow the parents to address where the child goes to school and the public school system as well.By law, all public school systems must provide an education to children within their district. By law. And that includes intervention. This child could be placed in early intervention now within the public school system but the parents should address this. Perhaps they and the public school can provide an intervention that you could not.
377493 tn?1356502149 ~teachers in these schools are often (although not always) as qualified as in public schools. people who cannot jobs in public schools end up taking jobs in the charter schools. ~ there is a lot of problems with administration in some of these schools (corruption, misuse of funding, etc). This is based on what I have heard from parents and teachers who have interacted with the charter schools. I'm not making blanket statements that all are bad.
878413 tn?1240304669 I am very sorry that I cannot personally vouch for any of the Indian medical schools. I know that the Indian physicians here in Kansas City are excellent and most did at least their medical school and internship there. You might do a literature search on CSR and look for Indian authors. I'm sure there is a list somewhere of the top 10 ophthalmology programs in India. Last resort you might ask you local Eye MD what is the best second opinion he might value on his case.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding! I think most high schools teach heavy on the abstinence-only education. I don't remember much about my own health class, though I do know we went over STDs and their symptoms, along with what happens during pregnancy and how it occurs. Although I don't think they ever taught us about any birth control options and how to use those. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention in that class and neither did many others, as the teacher we had was a bit of a pervert.
