Avatar f tn Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an acute febrile disease which is more common in the tropical regions. It is an extremely painful disease that affects the bones and is also known as break bone fever. The virus of DHF is transmitted by the aedes aegypti type of female mosquito, which carries the virus and is active during daytime. The characteristic feature of these mosquitoes is that they are low flying.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar f tn Good idea. Then there is cholera and dengue too. No kidding. Many in his village just have minor dengue reactions due to prolonged exposure. And cholera is pretty rampant in the hot summer months too.
Avatar f tn Assuming the symptoms are acute, this is likely to be a case of viral gastroenteritis. You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar m tn Guys. I am diagnosed with dengue fever yesterday. I engaged in mutual masturbation with a random guy, where we were jerking off each other. Does me being positive for dengue means I am positive with HIV also?
Avatar m tn Hi! If the test was performed during high fever or acute illness then WBC count may be on lower side due to infection. However, this count can still be considered normal. If the child is not ill at present, then you can repeat the test after two weeks. If the low count persists after two weeks also then your daughter may need to undergo some tests.
Avatar f tn Until now, Miami-Dade had had very few cases of dengue fever -- and all of them had been among people who had traveled outside the United States to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Conte said. In February, Puerto Rico declared an epidemic of the disease, with more than 200 cases reported in January alone, and three deaths by mid-June. Avatar m tn If you had protected sex, chances of HIV are less. However, if condoms were used, then they can leak or burst. Yes, acute HIV infection can start within three days. However, shooting pain and diarrhea can be due to viral or bacterial gastroenteritis or stomach flu as well. I suggest, you get stool examined for infection.
Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.
Avatar n tn It is therefore not necessary that all persons bitten with dengue infected mosquito will get an infection. It depends on the immunity of a person whether the disease will manifest in mild form or severe form. The spread of dengue from a patient to others is possible. The patient should be protected from contact with the mosquito. Effective mosquito repellents may help. Do write to me with more queries. Best luck and regards!

Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The difference being in food allergy the IgE antibodies are increased. If symptoms are acute it can even be due to an infection, gastroenteritis. So, if your symptoms persist consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Since hepatitis means inflammation of the liver and dengue fever can cause all kinds of havoc in the body and death, I am not surprised. In Jakarta, where I used to live, there usually are bigger outbreaks around ever 5 years. The hospitals are so crowded that patients have to lie in the corridors etc. Many ppl die, because they are admitted too late. Just a few days before Christmas, when my son was still in Indonesia, he got sick and had all the symptoms.
