Common Questions and Answers about Scarlet fever rash on hands

scarlet-fever

My son had high fever with rash on his hands arms, back and chest. We took him to the doctor and he diagnosed Scarlet fever. He priscribed Amoxicillin for 10 days. He started taking it and 3rd day his fever was gone, rash was gone. I sent him to day care for one day as I had to go to office and he came back with minor fever again. We thought his antibiotics is still not finished may be he will be fine. Next morning his legs badly hurt. Then I notice he was starting pink eye.
I have been having a rash on top of my eye lids and really bad rash under my arms, neck chest and hands it ITCHES really bad... What can I do... Do I go to the hospital?
I have not heard of rash, but there maybe someone here who has. What did the doc think the rash was from? You better keep on eye on it. A rash is usually an allergic reaction to somthing. Like if you take a new med. Also, it can be from a spider bite, or other insect. If you notice a "red line" associated with the rash, you will need immediate medical attention. Don't let it go too long. Hope everything else is well. I miss seeing you!
If your daughter is a child then the possibility of rocky mountain spotted fever, Kawasaki disease and scarlet fever are there. Rash in all these involves the palms and soles and is a red, shiny rash. Investigations and blood tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.
my daughter has had a rash starting on the hands and goes up the arms and stomach and chest. It is very itchy. She has been tested for food allergys, and everything came back negative. The doc gives her steroids and zyrtec. It starts to go away, then about 2 to 3 days after she is done with meds it starts itching severly again. She has had this going on for about 6 weeks now.
Now in the past week, my other daughter had got a an itchy rash starting on her chest and legs, and not starting on her belly. The dr. said that is is not scabies or bed bugs, or anything like that because the rash is to clustered to be bug bits. My girls are very miserable and itchy even with benedryl.
Sorry to hear about all that you're going through. I've done a lot of research on strep, scarlet fever, rheumatic fever and subsequent heart valve damage. My 3 year old got strep four times before she even turned two - a child who otherwise never even got a cold. The fourth time, she progressed into the rash and was diagnosed with scarlet fever. I got very worried, as each time it gets worse. Our doctor said if she gets it again, the tonsils are coming out.
I was doing some research tonight and found out that there is a correlation between rheumatic fever and some of my symptoms. I was never diagnosed with RF, but I WAS diagnosed with Scarlet Fever when I was a child (age 8). I had strep throat so many times between the age of 8 and 20 that it became an annual ritual. When I was pregnant, I was diagnosed with a heart murmur, which apparently went away after I had the baby. That was 20 years ago. I think it is back, with a vengance.
Swelling in my hands/feet, a rash on my calves and forearms (like dermatitis, yet no change in soap/detergents, etc.), temperature ranging from 97.6-100.9 daily for many months now, daily nausea and diarreah, increased migraine activity and mental fogginess and eye problems (loss of focus/dry)as well as unprovoked anxiety. Have had blood tests and all come back within normal parameters. Symptoms are getting worse over time. I am miserable and can't live life like this.
When I was 5 years old I developed a rash from allergy to pseudophedrine. It was deemed Scarlet fever but my research shows that it was just an allergic reaction. 4 years ago I took a product with ephedrine in it and I developed rash/burns on my inner thigh, feet and hands and it lasted for 2 months on and off. It was NOT itchy but it burned like crazy. Steroid creams, shots, nor over the counter remedies alleviated it. It just went away.
severe redness in the eyes a rash on the stomach, chest, and genitals red, dry, cracked lips swollen tongue with a white coating and big red bumps sore, irritated throat swollen palms of the hands and soles of the feet with a purple-red color swollen lymph nodes During the second phase, which usually begins within 2 weeks of when the fever started, the skin on the hands and feet may begin to peel in large pieces.
Don't worry. Scarlet fever is caused by the strep bacteria, and after a strep infection people sometimes get peeling of the skin of the palms. It lasts a while while the skin grows a new layer, and everything is fine, as I'm sure it will be with your daughter too. This takes place a few weeks after the infection, and does not mean that the infection is still there, so no antibiotics are needed, or any other treatment, for that matter. By all means check with the doctor, if you're concerned.
Recently my 13 year-old son had a fever and minor sore throat. When the skin on his trunk turned deep red I suspected a strep infection. He was seen by his pediatrician who took a culture which proved negative. He said it was viral. OK fine. The rash was flat and red, covering his trunk, with the rest of his body just pinkish. He looked as though he had a bad sunburn. He was itchy and uncomfortable. After about a week, the rash faded (the low fever lasted 3 days).
It is the worst on my stomach and hips. It is on my arms, legs, a little on my chest, on my hands and palms, but not on my face. It's not itchy. This is the third time I've gotten the rash.. the first time was about three years ago. I had been really sick and the doctors said it was from all the toxins in the medications I had been taking. The second time was about a year ago and they diagnosed it as scarlet fever. I got my tonsils out after that.
What kind of virus causes pimple like rash on my daughters hands arms legs and feet? with fever will it go away how long will it last? will it come back? This discussion is related to pimples on four-year-old.
The only part that is somewhat better are 'some' of the larger pimple-like blisters. My hands are swollen and covered with the rash that looks like hives - you can't even see my veins which are usually prominent. My face is swollen....heck, my entire body is swollen. So, he called my treating doctor at my request and tried to explain the severity of the rash.
My mother (56) has an awful itchy burning outbreak/rash on her hands. She has had it for about 3 years but it has got really bad recently, especially since she discovered she was diabetic about 6 months ago. Her doctor has put her on Metaphormin tablets, but she is also on Warfaren as she had a couple of blood clots about three years ago and the warfaren thins her blood to prevent further blood clots in the future.
I have a rash only on the top of my hands, Im 12 weeks pregnant. It doesn't itch (yet). It looks like hives but is NOT risen...any ideas???
anyway, i thought it might be connected to masturbation somehow, or perhaps eczema (which appears on my hands sometimes), so i tried to keep my hands off hoping it'd disappear...a few months later, i noticed a dark patch near the tip of my penis, which, again, would be darker or lighter depending on bloodflow(?)...
I was told to go to urgent care when I mentioned I had neck pain and a rash, but the doctor on call only can me creme for the rash and told me to follow up with my primary doctor in about a week. Thank you!
I believe in the most natural route possible. The rash used to be so bad that I got deep red blotches on my chest on the way to work. The combo that has worked best for me is no caffeine or chocolate on days that I am social, 3 pharmaceutical fish oil pills in the morning, 200 mg high quality magnesium twice daily, and one 300mg kira st john's wort in the morning. My rash has become almost obsolete for day to day socializing. If I have a "performance" situation - i.e.

My 7 year old daughter had scarlet fever (group A strep on throat culture). She started Amoxicillin on a Sunday night.. Monday, Wed and Thurs mornings she has complained of sudden onset of tingling and pain on the palms of her hand, her thumbs, and the soles of her feet. It starts about 5 minutes after awakening, is quite severe, and stops after about 5 minutes, subsiding over a couple of minutes.
I can only swallow ice water or ice chips. After 3 days I now have a blistery rash on my hands also. Could this be mono or something else- should I see Dr again?
I am asking whether I could get this from my partner they show no signs at all but in the last week their hands have started to peel in exactly the same way mine are following the scarlet fever rash. I am worried that this may not be scarlet fever but something more, is there any std that comes across this way. My Doctor has said that is highly unlikely I was infected from my partner following their treatment or that I was reinfected from them following my antibiotics course.
He has a throat culture done for that diagnosis, and he also had a fever and body rash on his chest, stomach and pelvic area on the front of his body only. He now has peeling hands - the skin started peeling at one nail bed and has spread to both hands. It seems to start as air-filled areas under the skin that are thick dead skin that break open on their own and peel. There is no itching but does have an uncomfortable sensation for the child.
(only strep infection). Or even Scarlet fever with no rash? Also, when I had Strep I had the tendency to self-induce vomit by using my ring and middle fingers, could that generalized the strep infection towards my fingers which still lasts until now?
Hello, Thanks for posting your query. What you are having is scarlet fever. It was called scarlatina earlier. Symptoms include sore throat, fever and a characteristic red rash which usually starts on the chest and trunk then spreads to the arms and legs. When the rash is present, the skin has small bumps and may feel rough like sandpaper. But given your description of the rash it is important to rule out any impetigo. Scarlet fever can follow the infection causing impetigo.
