Whenever we used it for our kids, and I can't remember how young, we were careful to gently shake it into our hands away from the baby and then spread it on the cheeks :) for difficult diaper rash we would use a thin layer or desitin cream or buttpaste, which we really like and then light baby powder. It helped make an extra absorbtion layer away from the baby.

Therefore, you would most likely on the prednesone to suppress your immuse system. I could be wrong. If this is the case, I doubt you have options, but your doctor would know your situation best. It was recommended that they be used when nothing else worked, and then only for short periods. I do know from talking to people that inhaled steroids are often prescribed willy nilly for minor complaints. My brother told me he had a little mucus (very minor chronic bronchitis which didn't bother him much) and his doctor gave him Advair.
