Avatar n tn Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar f tn 1 - I am currently taking symbicort and ventolin, and someone told me that if I stop using them (even for just one day), I will have an asthma attack because of my perfume/irritant allergy. Is this true? 2 - What am I supposed to do if I have an asthma attack? Atfter I take my ventolin (for emergencies), am I supposed to go to the hospital or just wait for it to get better?
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.

1344892 tn?1276541735 However, Salbutamol, also known as Albuterol which is a Class of drugs known as Anticholinergics is known to cause tachycardia and can also cause an increase in blood pressure. Some are able to tolerate this medication with no unwanted side effects...while others suffer from common side effects. I was using Combivent a combination of Albuterol/Atrovent which exacerbated my Afib. My Dr said that the Albuterol was responsible for the exacerbation and suggested that I try using Atrovent instead.
Avatar n tn Flovent is a corticosteroid with serious side effects Among them are osteoporosis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, adrenal problems, cataracts, and on and on. In addition to Ventolin you can use natural anti-inflammatories. There are many - vitamin C, vitamin B6, mullein, marshmallow, boswellia, ginger, and on and on. I use a nebulized albuterol combination (Duoneb) as the only prescription. I no longer use inhaled steroids after developing serious problems.
Avatar f tn Side effects and allergies to drugs would be very different. Side effects could improve over time or with improved inhaler techniques. Allergies would stop you from using the medication completely. Allergies to medications should be limitated to certain drugs or ones that work very similarly. There should be other inhaled steroids (same use as budesonide) that you should be able to safely use. Another possibility is singulair if the asthma is allergy based.
Avatar m tn If you are continuing to have breathlessness, then you may need additional inhalers like ventolin, which contains salbutamol, which is short acting and helps relieve bronchospasm. It would be best to consult your doctor regarding persisting symptoms, he may prescribe additional inhalers or he may change the dose of the steroid inhaler. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My names Eve and Im 15. I got diagnosed with asthma around 4 months ago after suffering from a reoccurring cough, wheezing, heavy breathing and shortness of breath. spirometry confirmed that it was asthma I had and I got out on the brown preventer inhaler and the blue reliever.
Avatar m tn may i know if ventolin expectorant is safe for a pregnant women for 16 weeks. Is there no side effects for baby?
Avatar n tn These include caffeine, pseudoephedrine (Sudafed), amphetamines, and the asthma bronchodilators albuterol/salbutamol (e.g. Proventil, Combivent, Ventolin).” In your case probably caffeine is the culprit alonf with stress. Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasciculation Once you cut down your caffeine and build up your lost iron by taking iron tablets and iron rich diet, you’ll be ok. Here is a link for you to go through for a complete list of iron rich food. http://www.loveyourbaby.
895401 tn?1302792967 I expect the ventolin would give you some physiological response, not sure if they, or the side-effects, are being misinterpreted as manic symptoms. You will know your body best though. It could be a drug reaction or even just because you're feeling more vulnerable at this time due to the flu, chest infection and now breathing difficulties. I have absolutely no idea when it comes to medication so you'll have to wait for the doctors response.
Avatar m tn I am not familiar with that particular med, but broncho dilaters are all stimulents and will speed up the heart some. That one may have less of that side effect than Ventolin though. Another option would be Xopenex. It doesn't have the stimulent side effects albuterol has. I hope you find some thing. Some times the regular breathing treatments are needed, but you also need sleep.
Avatar m tn Last night I ate no food after 5pm that I could react to and around 9 pm I used the blue puffer (Ventolin Salbutamol Sulpate Inhalation Aerosol) and and what was left of my red puffer (Fovent flutisacone propionate - corticosteroid) - AND I immediately broke out in hives and itching everywhere including on my tongue and I had trouble swollowing. I took an anti-histamine and the hives lasted about 90 minutes.
Avatar m tn Thanks, With Ventolin getting some side effects and thus stooped its use after 5-6 days.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!
Avatar f tn I am not really familiar with aerocort, but I did do a little research on it. Aerocort appears to be a combination inhaled corticosteroid (ICS - as indicated by the "cort" in its name) and salbutamol (a long acting broncho dilater). This would be similar to Advair or Symbicort. You cannot be addicted to this medicine. You have a chronic disease and this medicine keeps your lungs open so that you can breathe. It is necessary for you to live. It will not harm you in any way.
Avatar f tn Well my doctor said the risk of no oxygen is higher than the side effects...
Avatar n tn What you are feeling, light pain and breathing problem suggests that your asthma is not as well-controlled as it could be. Another explanation could be that you are experiencing side effects from the Rotacap®. It is possible that the dose is too high for you and if you are going to take this medicine you should divide the dose. But there is something else the Ventolin® Rotacap® is a short-acting bronchodilator.
Avatar n tn I'm 40 years old. I have had asthma since childhood - mild (occasional salbutamol) until about 10 years ago, then a little worse. Preventer inhaler as well as occasional ventolin - very rarely had symptoms. I smoked socially from age 20 (3-4 cigarettes each day - not underestimating!) until about 9 months ago - no further smoking. My breathing has become a little more difficult, is so for most of the time, and is worst in the morning.
Avatar f tn Im just a little concerned because i used it once so far, and i know that sometimes the side effects can be really severe (ive been having REALLY bad drowsiness, but thats just annoying not much of a big deal) but it also seemed that the inhaler actually made my chest pains worse. It just made it seem like i had this huge gulp of air caught in my chest.. like i needed to burp but couldnt make it come out.
