Avatar f tn U do not classify asthma only by wheezing or cough. Carry out a pulmonary function test and a chest x-ray. Tell your doctor that salbutamol is not helping.
1344892 tn?1276541735 The first medication you mention is a Corticosteroid and is not known to effect the cardiovascular system. However, Salbutamol, also known as Albuterol which is a Class of drugs known as Anticholinergics is known to cause tachycardia and can also cause an increase in blood pressure. Some are able to tolerate this medication with no unwanted side effects...while others suffer from common side effects. I was using Combivent a combination of Albuterol/Atrovent which exacerbated my Afib.
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.
Avatar m tn I am thinking of trying salbutamol and wondering whether anyone has any information, experiences or thoughts to share. Anything would be greatly appreciated. It is a horrible time I should add that I have been mildy anemic and am recovering. This has certainly exacerbated my breathing difficulties -- i.e. I have struggled to breath far more while anemic. However, I have good days and bad days and going by weather patterns, I'm fairly sure these are related to pollen allergy. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I think you are lucky that your salbutamol is working , palpitation is its side effects, leave it
Avatar m tn Hi, I'd see your doc for a look/see and PFT testing to see what's going on. You may need an albuterol and/or steroidal inhaler and the PFT tests will help determine what's going on. May be inflammation and night is when it rears its ugly head sometimes :( Keep us posted and WELCOME! Also --- croup can happen with a sharp change of temp. It's tricky so the PFT is extremely beneficial for your Dr.
726605 tn?1231368596 Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". Those aren't anything you would take on a regular basis for controlling asthma. In any event...
Avatar n tn These include caffeine, pseudoephedrine (Sudafed), amphetamines, and the asthma bronchodilators albuterol/salbutamol (e.g. Proventil, Combivent, Ventolin).” In your case probably caffeine is the culprit alonf with stress. Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasciculation Once you cut down your caffeine and build up your lost iron by taking iron tablets and iron rich diet, you’ll be ok. Here is a link for you to go through for a complete list of iron rich food. http://www.loveyourbaby.
Avatar n tn I gave a lot of thought before posting again, because I am sure you are the greastest mom and would never want to endanger your children. This post IS NOT a criticism, or an attempt to make you feel badly. Albuterol is a "last ditch" emergency medication. When you reach for the albuterol you are "reaching for lung reserve". Once that albuterol is ingested, the lung has no more reserve.
Avatar m tn t work - they have taken the sputum to test for bacteria which came back negative so the doctors suspect virus. They have given me salbutamol/albuterol inhalers for the wheezing which helps a lot. They tested me for asthma which came out negative. I have even been given antihistamine tablets as once the dotctor thought I was having an allergic reaction. I try to tell the doctor in vain that I was not allergic to anything.
Avatar n tn m trying to find out if this is a) uncontrolled asthma and/or b) lungs settling down after stopping smoking and/or c) early signs of COPD. I'm also looking for suggestions as to what to do next. I'm fairly worried about this. Even wondering whether it's stress causing the concern. Thanks for the help.
Avatar n tn Thank you so very much, i was worried about all this, sure i will speak to the Dr, can you tell me what natural anti-inflammatories you take and is albuterol anot a steroid, as i thought so,whow does it help and do you take everyday Please can you give me more details.
Avatar m tn can i give salbutamol in 1st trimister thretened abortion?
Avatar f tn The fast acting one is great if you are doing exercise or something else that would get you out of breathe or weazy, and I carry it in my bag everywhere with me just incase...its also great if you get sick cos like myself and a lot of asthma sufferers, when you get a cold or flu etc...you get it worse than everyone else and it goes right to your chest making it harder than normal to breathe and giving you a cough etc.
Avatar f tn I am 19 wks pregnant and suffer from terrible allergies this time of yr and have to use salbutamol 100micrograms inhaler. I use it up to 3 times a day. My midwife is uncertain if I can use this while pregnant and I have read up on possible effects to the baby and I am terrified. Has anyone used this while pregnant??
Avatar n tn My son is taking albuterol through the nebulizer. He is having nose bleeds Is this common?
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
Avatar f tn Been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis, feline dander, housedust etc allergies. Also diagnosed with excercise induced asthma in the 90's. About a month ago wheezing. Doctor has me on 50mcg fluticasone/salmeterol powder am and pm,plus albuterol every 4 hrs. I haven't been using rescue every 4 hrs. When I talk I start coughing and choking and have to spit. What is going on with treatment?
Avatar m tn The doctor may decide that you now need a prescription for the steroid type of inhaler to use once or twice a day and the Albuterol as and when you need it. There are different types of steroid inhalers, but their job is about the same. So if the doctor prescribes you with one that is not helping, do get back to him to try you on a different one.
Avatar f tn 362 (Actual) 359 (Predicted) I suffer from asthma (have for many years but always controlled) and use a serotin 250mg inhaler twice a day and salbutamol when required, however I have had 3 nasty chest infections in the last 3 months and I am now feeling breathless (hence the spirometry tests) a lot of the time and have tightness in my chest (like my chest is in a vice).
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
1754037 tn?1327886811 When I found out I was pregnant I did get off the pulmicort but stayed on the albuterol(only needed it once or twice a day). My son came out healthy and is now a healthy 4yr old. I am now 36weeks with my second son and I've had to take my albuterol inhaler anytime I go outside due to fires around where I live. So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol.
959034 tn?1253671476 I use Symbicort as a preventer and rescue med to a certain degree. I use it when I feel chest tightness a lot, that doesn't go into real shortness of breath. When I'm having a sudden attack of breathing problems then I use Salbutamol (I guess it's like your Albuterol or ventollin). My doctor told me to use symbicort 6 x per day and any additional puffs when I'm having a lot of chest tightness.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I am 18 weeks and have asthma, I have had it my whole life, I am one of those who was born with it and didn't grow out of it. I take my albuterol inhaler a couple times a day. My OB/GYN also put me on flovent cause the steriod I was on before I was pregnant hadn't been tested on pregnant women and she wanted to be safe. My OB said that is safe to use both the albuterol and my flovent, especially because it causes more damage when you deprive the baby of oxygen.
