Avatar m tn bronchodilators and caffeine in tea are both stimulants and cause a rise in heart rate - when you combine them you may get even more of a response (called syngery) then you would see from either of them alone. You could try drinking herbal teas that are caffeine free and this help stop that affect.
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning. During bouts of coughing, I have tried taking my ratio-salbutamol puffer but it doesn't seem to help. Over the years I have tried a variety of puffers to no avail.
726605 tn?1231368596 This means no issue completlely safe to take during pregnancy. However, I am asthmatic and take medicine daily. In general all asthma meds fall into category B and C. I was told over and over that my asthma medicine was safe to take during pregnancy. I never had any issues. However, today and that is why I am searching for an answer, my PCP's office didn't want to write a script for my asthma meds, he want the OB doctor to write them.
Avatar n tn I'm 40 years old. I have had asthma since childhood - mild (occasional salbutamol) until about 10 years ago, then a little worse. Preventer inhaler as well as occasional ventolin - very rarely had symptoms. I smoked socially from age 20 (3-4 cigarettes each day - not underestimating!) until about 9 months ago - no further smoking. My breathing has become a little more difficult, is so for most of the time, and is worst in the morning.
1344892 tn?1276541735 thank you for your comments brooke, i also was told this by the doctor too but i have not taken my salbutamol in 3 days and are still getting these symptoms. i was told the effects of salbutamol last only a short while. thank you so much for your input, it is much appriciated.
Avatar n tn I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
1378381 tn?1444866015 Some food additives give me asthma attacks and I recently had one from red licorice. The first time I ended up in the ER the doctor thought I had had a panic attack but I've since been diagnosed with allergy induced asthma and I'm receiving treatment. In my case it never made sense to me that I was having panic attacks simply because I didn't feel panicky when I got the attacs.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with asthma in March, but have had serious breathing difficulties since January when I believe I first developed asthma, aged 34. I had to go to Accident and Emergency in March as I was having an asthma attack and was sent home the next day with steroids. These helped initially, but was off work for a few weeks as I felt very unwell, run down, lethargic and just had no energy at all.
Avatar n tn The “near fatal reaction” may have had a component of airway inflammation, that served to “tip-off” your asthma, much as can happen with a severe respiratory infection, such as bronchitis, resulting in what is called bronchial hyperreactivity, a feature of asthma. What you have experienced may or may not be asthma in the conventional sense but be more akin to a condition called reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS). This latter may take weeks, months or longer to eventually subside.
Avatar m tn seeing whether there is a change either in resposne to allergin or reliever medication. It may be difficult to get him to take my concerns seriously when he's performed a test before (simple peak flow). Having said that, he is fairly good about discussing concerns most of the time. I must say that having looked into it, I can't see any serious issue with trying salbutamol when I am symptomatic to see whether it gives any clear relief.
Avatar f tn Atfter I take my ventolin (for emergencies), am I supposed to go to the hospital or just wait for it to get better? Because in the last two weeks, I have had small asthma attacks every 2-3 days, and about 4 bad ones (ended up in the hospital for the night with the first one, 3 after I just took the ventolin and waited). 3 - What should I avoid? (I know about perfumes [irritants], but what else?
Avatar n tn i have had the same problems as you are describing. i had allergic asthma. as in my allergies triggered my asthma. are you taking allergy meds? this should help the most. if you are taking allergy meds and still experiance allergy symptoms than you should go see your doctor and tell him. there are alot of allergy meds out there and not all may work for you. aviod things that trigger your allergies the worst.
Avatar m tn The result was non reactive. I inhale sometimes salbutamol because I have asthma. Do you think it can alter the result of the test?
Avatar f tn 362 (Actual) 359 (Predicted) I suffer from asthma (have for many years but always controlled) and use a serotin 250mg inhaler twice a day and salbutamol when required, however I have had 3 nasty chest infections in the last 3 months and I am now feeling breathless (hence the spirometry tests) a lot of the time and have tightness in my chest (like my chest is in a vice).
Avatar m tn As, Singulair (montelukast) is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children. Singulair 10mg tablets contain the active ingredient montelukast, which is a type of medicine known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist. You may need regular inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta agonist such as salbutamol, to relieve your symptoms. Nebulization may help. Sometimes, steroids may be needed to control the symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!

Avatar f tn Hi I hope someone can answer me. a month and a half ago i caught a very bad flu which caused my asthma to flare up. i took cough syrups with salbutamol because that's what i usually do when i catch a flu and my asthma flares up. and usually my asthma and cough would go away for about a few days. but i noticed after a week of taking cough syrup w/ salbutamol that my coughing is not getting better. so i went to visit my doctor after a few days and by then i was on my second week with cough.
Avatar f tn I am not really familiar with aerocort, but I did do a little research on it. Aerocort appears to be a combination inhaled corticosteroid (ICS - as indicated by the "cort" in its name) and salbutamol (a long acting broncho dilater). This would be similar to Advair or Symbicort. You cannot be addicted to this medicine. You have a chronic disease and this medicine keeps your lungs open so that you can breathe. It is necessary for you to live. It will not harm you in any way.
Avatar n tn He went to the doctor who arranged an x-ray and diagnosed asthma. He was given a blue and brown puffer to use. His cough didn’t improve and so eventually he stopped taking these. He continued having the cough and in 2014 we paid for a CT scan, just to check things were ok. We were worried about asbestos as we know he has worked in buildings containing it. The CT scan showed up some scars, granulomas and a raised left hemi diaphragm.

1114793 tn?1258730647 2) pulmonary function test change in response to a specific inhalant (methacholine challenge) suggestive but not specific for asthma. 3) CT scanning comes the closest to being that single test when it shows evidence of emphysema. And there are others.
