Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
Avatar n tn I'm 40 years old. I have had asthma since childhood - mild (occasional salbutamol) until about 10 years ago, then a little worse. Preventer inhaler as well as occasional ventolin - very rarely had symptoms. I smoked socially from age 20 (3-4 cigarettes each day - not underestimating!) until about 9 months ago - no further smoking. My breathing has become a little more difficult, is so for most of the time, and is worst in the morning.
Avatar f tn In that case you need a mucus thinner/expectorant. Buy an over-the-counter preparation that has guaifenesin, preferably only guaifenesin. Take a tablet and drink a full glass of water. It helps greatly. In fact the worst episodes I have with asthma involve serious congestion. You can also start using natural anti-inflammatories. These help greatly and thee are no side effects. As to diet, be very careful about sweets and too much starch. These cause a proliferation of Candida albicans.
1344892 tn?1276541735 i am 29 years old and have asthma for which i take 100 mg of qvar 2puffs twice daily. for the last 4 days my heart is beating very very fast, it will not slow down, it is waking me up from my sleep and is really getting me down. i went to a&e and had a chest x-ray, and it was fine. then i had an ecg and that came back fine apart from my high heart race. my blood pressure was high but then was taken again immediately after and was deemed o.k.
Avatar n tn Understand your predicament. Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
1378381 tn?1444866015 I believe salbutamol tends to make a panic attack worse but usually gives quick relief to asthma sufferers. As ChitChatNine said it's important to go to a doctor to be diagnosed and receive treatment if you need it but discussing and researching online can also help to know what you need to tell the doctor and what questions to ask.
Avatar f tn I have my kid who is suffering from asthma and recently he has got asthma attack and been hospitalized for a month and become breathless. He has got trouble in talking also. His lips and fingernails turned bluish color. Not only for us, many people are suffering from asthma attacks. I will pray the almighty for all of our recovery. One more thing is Yoga helps a lot to control asthma.
Avatar n tn The “near fatal reaction” may have had a component of airway inflammation, that served to “tip-off” your asthma, much as can happen with a severe respiratory infection, such as bronchitis, resulting in what is called bronchial hyperreactivity, a feature of asthma. What you have experienced may or may not be asthma in the conventional sense but be more akin to a condition called reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS). This latter may take weeks, months or longer to eventually subside.
Avatar m tn Tonight I started to have an asthma attack so I took a puff and felt it hit my tongue. I figured I gave myself a bad dose so I took another. Now I feel jittery and I'm having palpitations.. on the bright side I can breathe now Should I be worried about taking two puffs?
Avatar m tn Hello, First do nothing without consulting a doctor. You need a doctor's advice and an accurate diagnosis before starting any medication. Taking an inappropriate medication can be harmful. I had several thoughts while reading your initial post. First, what we call the "classic" or "Hollywood" asthma attack" on another board is really a late stage attack.
Avatar m tn The result was non reactive. I inhale sometimes salbutamol because I have asthma. Do you think it can alter the result of the test?
Avatar n tn i have had the same problems as you are describing. i had allergic asthma. as in my allergies triggered my asthma. are you taking allergy meds? this should help the most. if you are taking allergy meds and still experiance allergy symptoms than you should go see your doctor and tell him. there are alot of allergy meds out there and not all may work for you. aviod things that trigger your allergies the worst.
1580703 tn?1651904887 are high doses of vitamin c like 2000mg+/day dangerous for asthma? can it overactivate your immune system?
Avatar n tn Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!
Avatar f tn Well I've just been diagnosed with asthma and I have a few questions (my appointment with my pediatrician and pulmonologist isn't for another month). 1 - I am currently taking symbicort and ventolin, and someone told me that if I stop using them (even for just one day), I will have an asthma attack because of my perfume/irritant allergy. Is this true? 2 - What am I supposed to do if I have an asthma attack?
Avatar f tn Hi I hope someone can answer me. a month and a half ago i caught a very bad flu which caused my asthma to flare up. i took cough syrups with salbutamol because that's what i usually do when i catch a flu and my asthma flares up. and usually my asthma and cough would go away for about a few days. but i noticed after a week of taking cough syrup w/ salbutamol that my coughing is not getting better. so i went to visit my doctor after a few days and by then i was on my second week with cough.
