Safety 1st does well in crash tests as well, maxi cosi in the us is made by safety first so there no point in spending extra on one. Carseat.org is a great, yet over whelming resource. Consumer reports does independent (much better and thorough) crash test rating. US crash test standards are terrible and only give a pass/fail rating! Graco always has recalls and are cumbersome to carry, I will never use them again.

s family not knowing about our registry, so my grandparents bought us a convertible safety 1st car seat. We never used the infant seat for it because it was easier to carry the graco seat and have multiple bases. It was very nice to have since she grew so fast though.

Get some Ginger Snaps and feed her (not sure of the size) one or two before going in the car. Try getting her used to the car by taking short trips (10-15 mins). It us better if she can see out, face forward and have fresh air. Don't make a big deal out of it. Praise when you get back and reward. Gradually work up to longer periods of time. You could even start by just going down the block and back. This may take a while. Maybe take her favorite blanket or a toy with you.

Jeremy is in a convertable Safety 1st carseat. It holds up to 100 lbs. He has to rear face until he is 45 lbs and then he can sit facing forward. I have read up on them and safety 1st is one of the better brands out there. There are so many to choose from. I found also it was more cost effective to purchase a convertable one than to have to go back and buy a booster seat later on! I can't wait to see what others on here are using! Let me knwo which one you decide to use!

If you are buying a brand new car seat do you still need to take it somewhere to get it inspected? Or does this just apply to older ones?

s from store the very back of van and into the garage at home he has always been in site/me close to van but I have never had to put anything in front seat or a item I would normally take in his in back seat cause I would never just forget my son was in the car even if I was not the normal person whom picks up or drops my kid /takes my kid everywhere.

Used car seats are never a good idea. Thats 1 thing you should always buy new. It could've been in an accident, which could make it not properly do its job for safety, may be expired(it should say on the seat somewhere) or recalled. Even minor accidents where u would never know the difference as a used buyer are not good for car seats.

Your babies have to be at least a year. I think the weight limit is 20 lbs but I'm not sure. My daughter was so small I didn't put her in a rear facing until 14 months. Also, in california the law will be changing to 2 years in a rear facing. The law hasn't gone into effect yet and I'm not sure when it will but for now it's just highly recommended. I hate dealing with car seats too. How are all the babies?

We were both so excited to be parents but clearly my parenting responsibility had to kick in as I was carrying the baby. This caused several of our fights. Yes, gas prices have definitely gone down, but he drives 50 - 150 miles per day in his car for work so that's going to add up in something with low gas mileage. And yes i have my own car but i don't want to be responsible for always having to transport our baby.

We have another Graco 3 in 1 car seat we haven't even opened yet (got it for our shower) but with my guy maybe weighing 15 pounds now I think we are going to be in the infant seat for quite a while longer LOL! But he hates it!
