Avatar f tn Ok so ive read & heard that pregnant women shouldnt ride roller coasters after the first half of the first trimester, but does that also include the rides that arent so jerky?? Is it safe to ride the ones that arent wild and dont pull & jerk you around too much?? See we're ((my family & friends)) going to Busch Gardens next weekend...ill be about 8 weeks...and i was just curious to see if anyone has ridden rides around that time of your pregnancy??
Avatar m tn One must avoid neck jerking, stressful activites like football, tennis, basketball, weight/furniture lifting, wave pools, roller coasters, backpacking, extended reading or sleeping with the head bent down or up etc. therefore it would be prudent to avoid roller coaster riders for your own safety. Hope this helps and you can take it as a word of caution. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am 2 months pregnant and have a season pass to great America. I really wanna keep riding the coasters until I am 3 months. Have you done it before or asked your doctor?
Avatar f tn In the amusement parks themselves it says pregnant woman should not go on rides. It can actually cause harm to the baby.
Avatar f tn Going to take the kids to the amusement park this weekend. I love roller coasters. It says on most websites that they are dangerous for pregnant women. Im taking the safe route, im 10 weeks along. I wish I could go on them with the kids. I guess for this time I will have to live thru the kids. What other things are you sacrificing for your little baby bumps?
Avatar f tn my NS as well said that I would need to avoid roller-coasters as well post-op....completely. The gravitational pull that goes along with roller coasters can cause the tonsils to herniate more and for the CSF to build up in the wrong places. Especially only 3 months post-op. IO know six flags is so much fun, but you may consider umniversal studios....it has lots of different rides that are not roller coasters, but that are ALOT of fun. THis is always our choice for this reason.
Avatar f tn Quick question ladies. So I believe that I'm ovulating within the next few days since I just got a lot of EWCM. This makes sense since AF is set to come June 6 assuming that my cycle is back on track. My dillema is, that my husband and I were planning to go the Busch Gardens June 6 for our anniversary. Sooooo, if I did conceive this month (this weekend) then that would put me at 4 weeks pg. Is going on the roller coasters then going to affect me??
Avatar f tn I will bee going to disney and planned on going to universal studios which have many roller coasters. I am only 5 weeks pregnant. Is it ok if i go on the roller coasters?
772910 tn?1249563035 My period was due today, but nothing yet. Since my temperature has been dropping steadily over the past few days, I'm sure it's a no, but...just in case, does anyone know anything about first trimester and roller coasters? I've read about dangers later on, but are Disney rollers coasters rough enough to hurt a "maybe" five week old embryo?
Avatar f tn Nooooooo. It can cause you to have a miscarriage. It ***** not being able to ride roller coasters, but it's for the safety of your baby.
Avatar f tn CBS/AP/ July 21, 2013, 9:39 PM German roller coaster maker inspecting Six Flags ride where woman died ARLINGTON, TEXAS A German roller coaster maker is sending officials to a North Texas amusement park to inspect a ride after a woman fell to her death. Tobias Lindnar, a project manager for Gerstlauer Amusement Rides in Munsterhausen, Germany, told The Dallas Morning News that the company will investigate what led to Friday's fatal accident at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington.
Avatar f tn Currently, there are no studies that document a problem with roller coasters while you are pregnant. Similarly, there are no studies documenting that it is safe either. webmd.
Avatar n tn I was told that i should stop riding the atv because being bumped around can cause the plasenta to detach. That's also why u shouldn't ride roller coasters. I'm seriously bummed that i will also be missing out on our yearly heyride because of the bumps involved. There are so many things that we have to give up while being pregnant an honestly it blows, but when it comes to the safety of our lil ones it really is better safe then sorry.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum. Personally I would not go on something that is jerky.....or would put you at risk for injury...keeping in mind, even tho you do not have symptoms now, that area of your cervical spine is weaker and may be more susceptible to injury. Only you know how your body is doing and if you should chance it....maybe try a few more easy going rides to see how you feel afterward and build up if all is well....
Avatar f tn ve been through lots of tests and my heart is structurally normal. Is it safe to go on roller coasters while taking atenolol (25mg 1 time a day)? I've heard that the beta blocker blocks adrenaline so it could be dangerous, but my doctor did not tell me of any such concerns when he started me on the meds. - of course I didn't think to ask either.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 15 and I went on a a lot of roller coasters earlier. It has been 5 hours and I have bad headaches. When I try to sleep it feels like I'm riding a roller coaster. It is weird I know l. I don't recall banging it only anything. Please help.
Avatar f tn You need to ask your doctor. If you read warnings, they say roller coasters and water slides are not a good idea while pregnant. Even at early stages you can risk placental abruption or separation from too much jarring. This can lead to preterm labor or other complications. Some people can do those things and be fine, but do you really want to put your baby at risk?
Avatar f tn Is it safe to go on things like water slides, roller coasters and other rides similar to that?
Avatar f tn Before i found out i was pregnant (at approximatly 3 weeks) i went to six flags i rode the joker (swing thing) and three roller coasters. I had no idea i was pregnant. Luckily my bf was too scared to ride any roller coasters so i got really angry with him and did not ride anything else. I felt horrible abt it for a long time after until my dr assured me everything was fine and baby was not affected at tht stage. I would not have rode any rides had i known.
Avatar f tn I'd cancel. You cannot ride roller coasters while pregnant, and you'd be miserable just walking around all day in the heat to just sit and watch everyone else ride lol.
Avatar f tn I always did not like roller coasters with loops or corkscrews because of how much they jostled my head. The hardest part for me with amusement parks is that I get over heated being in the sun all day and with my POTS it makes me feel really sick.
Avatar f tn I went to a roller coaster park around 18 weeks didn't get on any coasters but some rides were pretty jerky. I would say no crazy rides that throw you around a lot because you could get not sure the name but its were the placenta can detatch or something.
718468 tn?1232414447 Today was a pretty 'good' day (see journal) but as I was filling in my mood tracker, I started to think about the gallstones my doc said I had which is now making me freak out because i had to go look at the GI boards here. I have no gallbladder symptoms and would not have even known I had the damn things if not for my doc calling me after an ultrasound done for an unrelated issue and the stones just happened to show up.
168348 tn?1379357075 Not a roller coaster but similar: white water rafting while being pregnant, first trimester. Since that time I even get sick on a swing.
Avatar f tn Generally speaking, I have times when I would never attempt to ride roller coasters or challenge the 105 degree heat factors of last week. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, my heart goes into overdrive and those activities are just too HUGE. But there are other, more common times when my heart's behavior problems ride in the rear seat and life continues as it used to. I want to reitterate that you should NOT ride until you have word from your doctor.
5833988 tn?1375121224 I want to go on a cruise, I've never been on one before. I'd like to know if I can get sea sick. Being a girl, I may be more likely to get it. BUT, I don't have motion sickness. I can go on roller coasters, read in the car, and go on a ride through hilly areas and bumpy roads. I've been on small boats before and I've been fine. I don't know if genetics affect anything, but my dad was in the Navy, and he was perfectly fine.
