Avatar n tn I can only say that my wife has owned cardio equipment and if the owner used it frequently you'll probably find a lot of problems that constantly need fixing. They don't hold up well. If you can't afford fairly regular repairs in both time and money, I'd just get a gym membership -- it's probably cheaper in the long run.

572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
Avatar m tn No tattoo artist is going to reuse a needle on you. Believe me. They have been trained on safety precautions. They can't be an artist without passing tests and courses- these include bloodborne pathogen safety protocols. No one reused a needle on you. This can't even happen by accident. No one is going to leave a used needle laying around, pick it up, then use it on the next customer. This DOES NOT happen. Doing something like this places the artist at way more risk than the customer.
Avatar m tn I am visually impaired with cone dystrophy and if there were any damage, my poor vision in general may mask the issue. I am also wondering if chances are that the spinning laser (or something else?) is harmless or they wouldn't put it outside for people walking on the sidewalk to run into. But I don't think barsr are known for their responsibility, and I've heard of clubs with raves and lasers that make people go blind because of improper use.
Avatar n tn The doctors are only talking about operating, yet the blood has stopped. I have not had a headache in about two weeks. Am I allowed to have sex? Please, could someone give me some activities that I should avoid other than the obvious (sports etc).

Avatar f tn I'm 35weeks & every year my family goes on a vacation up north. (I live in Wisconsin.) I'm wondering if I'll actually be able to even participate in anything. There's horseback riding, four wheeling, pontooning (which is like this big boat, super relaxing), fishing, archery, and just overall R&R. By no means do I want to induce premature labor & the baby's safety comes first. I'm mainly just worried about the horsebackriding & four wheeling.
Avatar m tn Third, almost all phlebotomy and injection equipment are now manufactured to be a ONE use only item, with safety features that actually render the equipment unable to be used a second time. If you cannot accept this, then get yourself some professional help.

Avatar n tn In addition to hygiene... I would also be concerned about the Nitrous Oxide (propellant) in the can which, forces the whipped cream out. It doesn't sound like a healthy thing to force into one's anal cavity. I've never heard of this practice but, it seems unappealing, messy and and most importantly... risky.

475300 tn?1312423126 s (used to refill the little cups when they run low during the tattooing) spout touches the ink in the ink cup being used for the current tattoo. Then the next person comes in, a new, sterile cup is taken out, but it is filled from the big bottle used to fill all the previous cups. It's OK if the tip never gets dipped into the actual ink while filling, but it invariably does. And all the other people's...goo...goes with it.
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar f tn My friend went to an outdoor all day festival when she was 34 weeks. I'm 38 weeks and I just went to a concert last wekeend. Just be aware of your surroundings, if it's music that pwople tend to get crazy to don't go into the crowd, enjoy from a far.

1769252 tn?1313856240 What you might try is getting involved in outdoor activities or sports. Or you might take a class in something you have always wanted learn. My main suggestion is, obviously, that you take yourself out of yourself. If you can do that your are much better off than taking the medical route (which often involves pills and other problems).
Avatar m tn It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use. There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
Avatar m tn She seemed to be struggling to get the device to work, as it looked like the lancet was jammed in there, so she (presumably) used another lancet and manually pricked my finger. The test was negative. The reason I am worried, is that there was a couple that tested before me, and I am scared that the same lancet was used on all of us. Our testing could not have been more than 5 - 10 minutes apart.
Avatar n tn It also depends whether the employee is in a regulated industry requiring government medicals, which includes railroaders, truckdrivers, paramedics, soldiers, pilots, and heavy equipment operators.
Avatar f tn HIV is a fragile virus, which is instantly inactivated in air and also in saliva which means it is effectively dead so it can't infect from touching, external rubbing or oral activities. It doesn't matter if you and they were actively bleeding or had cuts at the time either because the HIV is effectively dead. Only 3 adult risks are the following: 1. unprotected penetrating vaginal with a penis 2. unprotected penetrating anal sex with a penis 3. sharing needles that you inject with.
Avatar f tn Maybe all of the above ..in Europe it came from Veg, cucumbers , but they said that it must have originated from animals ..dead ones.
Avatar m tn A simple needle isnt hollow and doesnt have a gateway to pass liquid (something used for stiching clothes) so in this case it wont hold any blood. The surgical/hypodermic needles are the ones used in syringe or the ones exclusively used by the drug users where in exchange of syringe happens immidiately in seconds. Eg one person injected drugs into his arm and immidiately his friend used the same to plug in drugs in his arm (considering the first user is hiv pos) in this case its a risk.
