Avatar f tn In Australia there is a site called kidsafe that rates all available car seats, prams, strollers, cots etc that are available. It rates everything from safety through to prices. Just wondering if perhaps the US has a similar site!
Avatar m tn i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar m tn Tattoo artists/piercers are trained on safety measures regarding bloodborne pathogens and do not reuse needles and they sterilize equipment between all customers.
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
Avatar f tn I am sorry this is a bad problem. Do you want to know where to get a carrier or how to get help paying for it? Yes Medicare expects you to stay home. We have many in our community who can't afford lifts, vans, or power chairs and are stuck at home. Our chapter of the NMSS can't meet the need. It is to great so they help no one on that count.
572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
Avatar f tn I am so scared:) I was at a discount store and poked my hand with a safety pin that was taken apart, basically mangled. It looked like somebody had twisted it. It was on top of a clothing rack. It drew blood on me. The store had just opened and I am wondering if someone had purposely placed it there. Can I get hiv fro it and if not can you explain why? Thank you I am so scared!!!!
Avatar f tn Good question! Made me go surfing the net as I have never paid attention to OTC A1c kits. First stop was the NGSP [National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program]. These are the folks who write the standards for A1c testing; hospitals & independent labs & mfg'ers of home kits and lab equipment. I noticed the Bayer Metrika A1cNOW met their stringent standards. For a list of labs and kits and what HbA they can test go here. On the left click on HbA1c Test Methods... http://www.ngsp.
Avatar n tn You can go to vitrectomy solutions.com for the most reasonable prices on face-down positioning equipment. This helps me. I have similar problems only my new knee was 4 months old. You can also try the following position. Lie on your side. Put your arms straight up over your head and then straight down on the bed above your head. Put your face down. Your body will be positioned sideways yet your face will be down. It takes some practice, but this worked better for me than the equipment.
475300 tn?1312423126 Since were talking about tattoos-I was a tattoo artist in the 1980s and early 90s.One way hepC is transmitted via tattoo is interesting. Even though everything (equipment ,etc.) has been medically sterilized in an autoclave, there's a place some inexperienced tattooists miss. First, I fill a small cup with ink, and then begin the tattoo. I dip the bloody needles into the ink, and back to your skin. No problem there. Now, I run low on ink and refill the cup.
Avatar n tn I pay of course, my portion to the insurance company to see the psychiatrist-20% is my portion. Haven't seen that bill yet. My script is $50 for 90-2 mg pills. A one month supply. I've seen CRAZY rates on this forum. Like $500 the first time they meet and $150 each visit thereafter. Insane.
Avatar m tn It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use. There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
206807 tn?1331936184 You see Ricky, it has a lot to do with unicorns farting rainbows, and pixie dust..... Uhm, no. I don't have a reasonable explanation. It doesn't make sense.
Avatar m tn Third, almost all phlebotomy and injection equipment are now manufactured to be a ONE use only item, with safety features that actually render the equipment unable to be used a second time. If you cannot accept this, then get yourself some professional help.
Avatar f tn I purchased the Safety 1st Key west Travel System. The car seat is about 17% larger, so I was able to use it for a little over 2 years. Graco brands are just way to small, and I hate seeing a babies legs dangle over the edge.
2168213 tn?1357062544 I'm 12wks now and our sex life has been great. But my husband wanted to spice it up and bought me dildo/vibrator. I haven't had that and never experienced it. Anyone use it? Is it safe for the baby? I definitely don't want to risk the safety of my baby with my sexual pleasure. My little one is precious!!!
Avatar f tn With us over here (Australia), IVF ICSI is like $5000 up front but then we have a medicare safety net which rebates like 80% - 85% and maybe like $100 - $150 meds , im not entirely sure about the meds but either way its alot better. I feel so sorry for all the couples over there with those prices. Geez Kricket i really do hope something is done for all of you ..
