Working in a health care setting...I am surprised you are not more educated about HIV and the risks associated with it.
Also...universal precautions are recommended for a reason...there are a lot of serious bacterial infections out there that are very easy to contract if you aren't protecting yourself. Utilize the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that is avail to you (ie gloves, gowns, etc)...depending on the situation.

i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?

Flamazine cream is excellent for cement burns. You have to be especially careful when taking off your boots and PPE that you don't unintentionally transfer the cement from your boots or PPE to your skin. He told me to continue using my PPE and make sure I had ventilation (in my case using a breathing apparatus, or in your case opening up windows and doors) and everything would be fine.

It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use.
There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
We noticed the change in her complexion midway through this regimen. She applies sun block lotion everytime she goes outside. Kindly watch out for PPE / hand and foot syndrome also, although Nanette didn't have this. This is one of the more popular side effects of this drug.

And most worrisome - an outbreak of small red raised spots, many with tiny pimply center, on my legs and trunk. Looks like pictures of PPE. I have had a few small outbreaks over last 3-4 yrs - now widespread.
While it looks like a list from the web, it is what I am experiencing. Before I get tested, is there any reason to hope either b/c low probability of transmission or b/c these symptoms could be from psychological stress caused by fear and guilt?

What type and class of chemicals are you working with? What precautions are you taking (PPE)? Have you looked at the MSDS sheets?
There are many chemicals that will adversely effect your baby if exposure is over a certain level. Knowing what you are being exposed to, and in what quantity, will better allow this question to be answered.
Are you taking prenatal vitamins? This is important during pregnancy.
How long has the out break been in effect?
