Avatar f tn t stay in business on what medicare is willing to pay so he has to turn people down. They want to pay him less than what he gets the equipment from his distributors for. It breaks his heart. I never understood until he explained it. The government wants to pay thousands below wholesale. The United Spinal Association Magazine has ads for equipment. People with MS can join for free. You can get discounts on all kinds of things like hotels as a member.
Avatar m tn i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar m tn Tattoo artists/piercers are trained on safety measures regarding bloodborne pathogens and do not reuse needles and they sterilize equipment between all customers.
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
Avatar f tn I am so scared:) I was at a discount store and poked my hand with a safety pin that was taken apart, basically mangled. It looked like somebody had twisted it. It was on top of a clothing rack. It drew blood on me. The store had just opened and I am wondering if someone had purposely placed it there. Can I get hiv fro it and if not can you explain why? Thank you I am so scared!!!!
6881121 tn?1392830788 I was surprised to see that salt consumption is being investigated as a factor in MS development. Apparently researchers have found an association between level of salt consumed and MS. Certainly not cause and effect at this point, but enough to warrant further study. I come from a family of saltaholics, and I was that way too for many years, actually until fairly recently. Then for reasons unknown I began to back off salt little by little several years ago.
475300 tn?1312423126 Since were talking about tattoos-I was a tattoo artist in the 1980s and early 90s.One way hepC is transmitted via tattoo is interesting. Even though everything (equipment ,etc.) has been medically sterilized in an autoclave, there's a place some inexperienced tattooists miss. First, I fill a small cup with ink, and then begin the tattoo. I dip the bloody needles into the ink, and back to your skin. No problem there. Now, I run low on ink and refill the cup.
Avatar m tn It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use. There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
Avatar m tn Third, almost all phlebotomy and injection equipment are now manufactured to be a ONE use only item, with safety features that actually render the equipment unable to be used a second time. If you cannot accept this, then get yourself some professional help.
Avatar f tn In 2008, the Swedish Medical Products Association reported that men who used Propecia may be more likely to suffer from irreversible sexual dysfunction. The organization soon required that Merck updated the safety labeling to include this important risk information. Several other European health authorities also required Merck to make these safety label updates, including the United Kingdom’s Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
Avatar m tn t the type of site that sells or buys second hand goods, i would suggest you consider looking at places like ebay and try contacting your local stroke association as they often have donated aides to sell or give away. Hope that helps...........
179856 tn?1333547362 Supplements often are sold through multilevel marketing — distributors and franchise holders earn commissions by selling and recruiting others to sell for a large company at the top of the pyramid. Even many ingredient suppliers are multimillion-dollar firms that do business all over the world. Little herbal stores are only "what the consumer sees when they're shopping," while the large companies that supply them are mostly invisible, Silverglade said.
874521 tn?1424116797 00 per capsule, depending on where you obtain it; sometimes online distributors can be found which charge lower prices. I require bloodwork and toxoplasmosis titers prior to starting Atopica, since it is an immunosuppressive medication (just as steroids are), and then I check bloodwork 1-2 times yearly, just like I do when cats are on chronic steroids, to ensure there are no side effects.
2168213 tn?1357062544 I'm 12wks now and our sex life has been great. But my husband wanted to spice it up and bought me dildo/vibrator. I haven't had that and never experienced it. Anyone use it? Is it safe for the baby? I definitely don't want to risk the safety of my baby with my sexual pleasure. My little one is precious!!!

648910 tn?1290663083 I probably should have also mentioned that MSAA (Multiple Sclerosis Association of American) has an equipment distribution program and a cooling equipment distribution program. I would recommend anyone with MS or waiting on a dx go to the site and join. After joining they sent me an introductory packet with a lot of info.
Avatar n tn The american pregnancy association says that bleaching or dying hair during pregnancy has little to no affect on pregnancy or bby. There is so little of the ingredients used to dye or bleach hair absorbed into the skin it is of no concern. The main concern is if the product used has ammonia in it as it might lead to fume inhalation which could make you sick. After the 2nd trimester it is considered safe to get your hair done.
620206 tn?1221439678 Be careful. There are several groups now suing distributors and sellers of it saying that their claims of weight loss, etc are not true. Do some research and then make your own decision.
