172023 tn?1334672284 I have good shoes, fitted professionally and have had them observe my gait and foot strike, that seems fine. I think I just flat overdid it. I would like to continue short walks, but if it would be better to totally not do it for a week, I would. Thanks for any advice.
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar f tn They call look at all sorts of other things like the shoes you wear, how your muscles are strength wise and how you strike your foot. That is all super technical in my opinion. But if you have a trainer and a good running shoe store, you can get some great advice. If this becomes chronic, you should see an orthopedic doctor for guidance. good luck and happy racing!
Avatar f tn A few days after the symptom relief, I was playing basketball and tried to do a spinning maneuver while simultaneously elevating off of my right foot. I had neglected to properly stretch and I felt a very sharp, sudden stretching, tearing pain in my pelvic area. It felt like a muscle or ligament pulling. The pain radiated into my genitals and when I pressed on my pubic area I felt a tenderness. I tried to stretch it off and continue to play but it limited my mobility so badly I had to quit.
Avatar n tn The act of running produces a good amount of impact on foot strike. The up and down shaking of the stomach can produce a feeling in the stomach and possible cramping. This may take time for a runner to get used to but can be helped if you take some precautions about what you drink and eat prior to and after each run. "Exercise physiologist Kitty Consolo, PhD, is cited in Valente's article as suggesting that changes in your diet before a run may need to be made.
Avatar f tn The shin muscles can also be somewhat alleviated by footwear and choice of surface. Runners who strike heavily with the heel should look for shoes which provide ample rear foot cushioning. Such shoes may be referred to as "stability" or "motion control" shoes. The so-called "neutral" shoes for bio-mechanically efficient runners may not have adequate support in the heel, because the runners for whom these shoes are intended do not require it.

675347 tn?1365460645 It has hit her hard, and she has spent 99% of today on a lovely bed by a log fire being waited on hand and foot. (And she is the sort of dog who likes to spend 99% of her time running about outside! So no prizes for anyone who can spot the difference!) But she has eaten, and shows a lot of interest in food. She's on antibiotics twice a day. She walks very very carefully out to poop and pee, and is very ready to get back to bed.
17507144 tn?1457325060 I've had what my Dr. Called a plantars wart on the bottom of my foot for well over a year now. We've tried different things along the way, it was a bother but it really didnt affect me all that much. But it has grown into a rather large ball protruding out of the bottom of my heel. So heres the thing, One day it starts draining a little pus.
Avatar n tn My grandmother had this (but it can strike at an early age too). Typically someone who has this has high cholesterol and triglyceride type levels. What happens with it is the plaque builds up in a blood vessel until the blood vessel becomes blocked. Then portion of the blood vessel below the block dies from lack of oxygenation. Ischemic pain (pain from lack of oxygen to tissue) is extremely painful. My sister recently heard they can put stents in a person's leg.
Avatar n tn The clarity and thoroughness of your posted question directly relates to the quality of answer you will receive. There is so little information to go on its impossible to even strike a guess as to what's wrong.
Avatar n tn feels that losing my longus is causing the foot to strike incorrectly, putting undue pressure on the lateral plantar foot. He also said he had never seen a neuroma in the 4th interspace. I'm wondering if a nerve is pinched somewhere? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

2143641 tn?1396678143 thank you Gracie, that is really interesting! I do need to lose weight but this is only coincidental with a hunger strike, so I won't be having regular meal for a unknown period of time. that's why my weight is dropping so fast.
Avatar m tn Lately i have been having a sharp pain in my left testicle, inner thigh, and sometimes even my foot after exercising. I do not notice any lumps or abnormal things with my testicles. What could this be?
Avatar m tn I still suffer from the same problem, a pain kind of on top of my foot where the foot meets my shin, but feels like its in the joint. Only hurst for 10 seconds or so first thing in the morning when I put weight on it. Don't want to see a orthopedic doctor if I don't absolutely have to as it will be quite expensive.
Avatar n tn I like to stay active so I try to go walking and running in town. Halfway back from my walk it hurt unbelievably bad. My hips would not stop popping. I noticed that if I even push down on my hips it feels extremely painful. This only happens when I walk, run, or even ride horse. I don't have any clue of whats causing it and can't decide if I need to go to the doctor for it. Please help!
Avatar m tn Yes there are many people who have l5/s1 disc problems and have no foot problems at all or they have flat foot. From my understanding the l5 controls many of the lower leg muscles including the tibialis anterior which is one of the common reasons for a cavus foot. Its all a knock on effect. After my first protrusion all I had was weak intrinsic muscles of the foot. Then the second protrusion was too much for my body to handle - weakness, spasticity of the legs and contracture sets in!
Avatar f tn ) and i do intervals of walking and running, more walking than running usually. a few days ago my left heel started getting very sore during my run and when i got home it was a sizeable water blister, probably from the friction of my sneaker, even tho i was wearing socks. i safely popped the blister with a sterile needle, drained it as much as possible and put a blister treatment pad over it and medical tape.
Avatar f tn I have been out of work since Wednesday for a foot injury and my job is hesitant on letting me come back concerned for my safety since i am 8 months pregnant. I'm getting nervous bc i have bills and I'm not sure how I'm going to maintain. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I rolled my left foot in a hole while running in July '09. I have had pain in the left side of my foot in the heel area. I can apply pressure massaging the heel area and feel a sharp pain. I had mornings where my first step out of bed was agonizing pain. The more I walked the more it hurt. I have used ice/heat/ibuprofen and nothing has helped. I started wearing my running shoe to bed on my left foot. I believe it has kept my foot straight at night and allows for healing.
Avatar n tn *Also recently when i run and i pick up my lefft foot it will shake uncotrollably and ver violently.
Avatar n tn m really worried I was late on getting my young son from school so I ran and felt a prick on the bottom of my foot. I forgot kinda about it and took a shower when I got out I looked at it and did see a small red dot that looked like a poke on the same foot I felt the poke. I decided go back and check were I felt the poke on the sidewalk 3 hours later. I could not find a needle but I did find a disposable glove In that spot I though was strange.
Avatar m tn I'm a runner and recently got a pain on top of foot, as if my laces were too tight 9they may have been!) recently been doing a lot of off road running on uneven hard surface. it seems to be in the Extensor Hallucis Brevis area and there is a squashy lump the size of a smallish coin in that area, which isn't really painful to touch. If I loosen my laces in that area I can walk and do a bit of running without too much discomfort.
