Common Questions and Answers about Running foot sprain

foot

Avatar m tn Exactly 2 weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle (rolled, stepped on someone's foot) during basketball. It was immediately iced and wrapped in an ankle brace. There was no bruising the next day and I could walk on it with a limp the day after that. I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball).
Avatar m tn t know if this happened before or after the ankle sprain. I received the sprain by landing short, (leaning too far forward on a landing). Now it hurts whenever I put pressure on it while leaning forward. The sprain never swelled up when I got it, or even now.
Avatar m tn About 5 months ago, when I was playing basketball with some friends, I went to save a ball out of bounds and landed normally on my right foot. However, at impact, my ankle felt like it was compressed together and all of the sudden was in great pain. I have sprained my left ankle many times, and the pain felt like a sprain; however, the way the pain was caused in my right foot did not resemble any of the ways I had previously sprained my left ankle.
Avatar f tn Last night (Saturday night) my friends and I were playing a game at the park (just like hide&go seek tag). The person it found me and I started running, I ran up two stairs and at the top was a lot of rubber and a railroad tie, I slipped on the Rubber and my right ankle went sideways slamming against the railroad tie. Now I am having pain from my right foot to my knee and sometimes further up when walking, and from my right foot to my hip when laying down. What could this be?
1114793 tn?1258730647 My husband has had chronic foot pain for 2 years. He is flat footed and has been so since he was a child. He wears orthotic inserts, but only since he began getting foot pain (he thought it might help). The pain began in Oct or Nov of 2007, and he doesn't remember ever injuring it. He said it began hurting (very slightly) as he was running down a stairwell, but doesn't remember twisting or rolling it. It began hurting severely a few days later, and hasn't stopped hurting since.
246923 tn?1249154300 a few weeks ago (1 week and a half) I had a little accident at my school during P.E class, while I was running I twisted my foot and fell down, the whole day was torture since it was really hard to walk...days passed and the pain wouldnt go away, my friend gave me a massage with Bengay (I think that's how it;s called) but the pain won't go away... it is really uncomfortable to walk and very painful...my foot isn't swollen but the pain is not decreasing... My question is...
Avatar f tn Is it possible I had a sprain and it turned into a break. I did turn my foot during that two week period. If it were a sprain it should have healed by know with rice. What do you suggest?
Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
Avatar f tn Make sure you have good running shoes with support. Try to stay on even ground. Ice after any sprain. take an anti-inflammatory (like advil). You can buy very good easy to run in braces. Get the kind that lace up or have 4 wraps that extend around your foot. You will probably have to go to a good sporting good store to find this. Give yourself some time to heal.
Avatar f tn A few months ago I started experiencing sharp side pain, sometime a spasm underneath my right ribs while running. I've been a jogger/runner my whole life and this is a new development for me. (female- late 20s) At first I decided to take it easy and run less, but after a few weeks I wanted to get back into running more frequently. I was able to push through some of the pain with hydration, stretching and breathing techniques.
Avatar n tn IF you are running a fever or have any red lines running through it that you might have an infection from a bite of some sort. DON'T wait anymore!! I hope that you will keep us updated on what you find out as we will be very concerned about you.......

Avatar f tn I have ongoing right ankle pain post an inversion injury where I sprained my ankle, 5 months ago, while I was running down some steps on a steep walking track. My initial xray was normal. Physiotherapy didn't help. I got an MRI which showed a ganglion cyst through the posterior talofibular ligament, plus another smaller cyst, plus some tenosynovitis of the flexor hallucis longus.
Avatar f tn I twisted mine before by missing a step, and the hospital put on a cast and this relieved the pressure on my foot and made it feel a lot better. Mine was just a sprain.
Avatar m tn I think the fluid biopsy of the lymph node is a good idea, maybe to rule out the possibility of cancer, and to try to understand what's going on. If it was a sprain, she would probably be limping or favouring that foot, and probably wouldn't want it to be touched. Again, if it was an infection (maybe caused by a puncture wound etc) then that would be painful, and you would probably see some signs of pain, or she wouldn't want it to be touched.
Avatar m tn It is a sharp pain whenever I put weight on it, but it also hurts to try to lift my foot up off the floor. Often times it hurts when I am just sitting and not moving. I cannot bend my foot up or down, and have difficulty moving my toes. The Dr. suggested that it could be some type of nerve damage, but I am unsure of what the symptoms are. Any real help or info would be immensely appreciated. Thank you for your time!
Avatar n tn I had a severe inversion ankle sprain about 7.5 weeks ago – still shocked how far it rolled in. I had lots of pain and serious swelling (3-4 times normal ankle/foot size), could barely walk on it for first few days, and there was extensive bruising in foot, toes (turned totally purple!), ankle, and even half-way up calf muscle. When it happened, I seriously thought I broke it, so went to the ER. The ER doc x-rayed and simply gave me an air-cast brace and suggested it was a grade 2 or grade 2.
Avatar n tn ) A few days after the specialists office i started getting this pain in my foot again. This time it started right where my foot and ankle meet about an inch in from outer ankle bone. Sometimes when i get up to walk on it, it's a very sharp pain that radiates through the rest of my foot, sometimes even into my calf.
890264 tn?1277065400 The fracture can be missed on xray if only the ankle is xrayed, and not the foot. You should have an xray of your foot as soon as possible.
1425504 tn?1308570818 Alright, I know this will sound stupid (and I know what I am doing is) but I want to get someone else's opinon. On September 5th, I sprained my ankle (class two if that means anything to anyone). I haven't seen a doctor in an office but talked to one who glanced at it. She thinks I should be fine if I ice it, elevate it, and stay off it for a bit. That's all fine and dandy except for staying off it. It's cross country season and well, I love to run.
1696489 tn?1370821974 I broke my ankle last year, and they gave me a hard boot to wear, plus all the things to do and not do with my foot. I did all that, then I was doing fine without the boot, walking running, bike riding, etc. Since i was doing okay, and I was low on money, I didn't go back for my aftercare session. Recently, i did a 6 day stint in the hospital, where I would pace the halls whenever I was bored, which was quite a bit. Ever since then, my ankle is KILLING me.
Avatar m tn Just for your info - when I broke my ankle/tib/fib a couple of years ago, I originally did not think it was broken - thought it was just a bad sprain - and walked on it for over a week before going for x-rays which determined it was indeed broken. So being able to walk does not necessarily mean you don't have a fracture. yes, it's possible to have swelling even without a fracture.
Avatar m tn So, they were squeezing my injury for 2 days straight, and found my high ankle sprain a whole month and 6 days late. so my foot has been immobilized, apart from me walking on it slightly after my first surgery, which I stopped once I found out I had a high ankle sprain. It was then immobilized for a month and 2 weeks, which after that I had a walking boot and physical therapy.
Avatar n tn How's your ankle now my foot is doin the samething like blood is rushin back down to it and it does hurt! How did u treat it!?
Avatar f tn Here I am 21 years old and I go to walk up the stairs and I twist my freaking ankle but noo it couldnt be the normal easy sprain I missed one step my foot dropped down popped slipped down another stair and landed right on the side and I heard the epic pop sound.
