It sounds as if you may have a tendinopathy of the ankle/foot flexors as a result of the constant gripping of the foot for stability on this uneven terrain. A strengthening routine would benefit, however, do not limit to one direction but all directions of the ankle and foot as well as calf stretching.
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar n tn s better to get bored on your bike, than developing complications from altered running mechanics which can cause chronic issues and affect your ability to run again. It might take a few months to heal. I had a similar issue when I played University soccer, which was due to frequent starts and stops during training and the fact that I'm flat-footed (risk factor). This caused me to miss half the season as it took a few months to heal properly.

630697 tn?1222307886 With sciatic pain in hip, thigh and calf I also have lost the feeling in the outside of my foot and partially up my leg and have no ankle reflex. My calf muscle is shrinking, 2" smaller then other leg. I have had a feeling of a pulled muscle in my calf for weeks. Is this back related? Or just me compensating for the lack of feeling? I am getting another MRI next week and seeing the surgeon the following week. I am not looking forward to the possibility of my 5th surgery.

Avatar m tn I still suffer from the same problem, a pain kind of on top of my foot where the foot meets my shin, but feels like its in the joint. Only hurst for 10 seconds or so first thing in the morning when I put weight on it. Don't want to see a orthopedic doctor if I don't absolutely have to as it will be quite expensive.
Avatar n tn I like to stay active so I try to go walking and running in town. Halfway back from my walk it hurt unbelievably bad. My hips would not stop popping. I noticed that if I even push down on my hips it feels extremely painful. This only happens when I walk, run, or even ride horse. I don't have any clue of whats causing it and can't decide if I need to go to the doctor for it. Please help!
Avatar f tn ) and i do intervals of walking and running, more walking than running usually. a few days ago my left heel started getting very sore during my run and when i got home it was a sizeable water blister, probably from the friction of my sneaker, even tho i was wearing socks. i safely popped the blister with a sterile needle, drained it as much as possible and put a blister treatment pad over it and medical tape.

Avatar n tn I rolled my left foot in a hole while running in July '09. I have had pain in the left side of my foot in the heel area. I can apply pressure massaging the heel area and feel a sharp pain. I had mornings where my first step out of bed was agonizing pain. The more I walked the more it hurt. I have used ice/heat/ibuprofen and nothing has helped. I started wearing my running shoe to bed on my left foot. I believe it has kept my foot straight at night and allows for healing.

Avatar n tn a combination of not stretching enough and bad mechanics/imbalances, and recommends more aggressive PT, but I am starting to wonder if there could be some DISEASE process going on not just an orthopedic problem. PS I am not on cholesterol medication, I did take Lipitor briefly, but only for six weeks and the problem really started in earnest quite some time after I stopped. Any ideas?

Avatar n tn m really worried I was late on getting my young son from school so I ran and felt a prick on the bottom of my foot. I forgot kinda about it and took a shower when I got out I looked at it and did see a small red dot that looked like a poke on the same foot I felt the poke. I decided go back and check were I felt the poke on the sidewalk 3 hours later. I could not find a needle but I did find a disposable glove In that spot I though was strange.
Avatar f tn It tightens up and I cannot flex my foot all the way. I need to be able to flex it so that I can stretch it for, what the neuro tells me, is plantar fascitis (sp?). The pain in my feet has been going on since before the summer and I can, kind of, deal with it if I always have shoes on and so long as I stretch. Now I cannot stretch it enough because of this tightness. When I think of muscle spasms, I think of the muscle twitching etc...
Avatar m tn I'm a runner and recently got a pain on top of foot, as if my laces were too tight 9they may have been!) recently been doing a lot of off road running on uneven hard surface. it seems to be in the Extensor Hallucis Brevis area and there is a squashy lump the size of a smallish coin in that area, which isn't really painful to touch. If I loosen my laces in that area I can walk and do a bit of running without too much discomfort.

Just before these pains started on my left inguinal area and the left testicle, I ran a lot, especially more than 8 miles a day at a stretch with occassional running with more speed. I have no idea whether I accidentally injured and unnoticed. Can this be Gilmore's groin? Will it have tenderness in the testicles similar to the urological issues? If it is a Gilmore's groin, then how it can be diagnosed and treated?

Recently we went for new shoes and at his fitting we realized that his left foot is over a size smaller than his right. I don't know how we missed this because it's very obvious when he standing in his bare feet. I know most people have one foot smaller than the other. But I've always had his feet measured and it's never been an issue.
973741 tn?1342342773 Tempo runs on the track, springs on the track, running on trails and side walks, running through fields, running through fields bare foot, hills and lots of core conditioning. He wasn't very big on stretching. Their cool down was a 2 mile run. His coach was a track/field and cross country runner at Auburn. Not shabby. And he is young and has produced in his 5 years at the school a pretty successful CC team. We buy running shoes on a regular basis so he always has good shoes.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was running for a boat and I cut my foot in a piece if metal. It was deep but not deep enough for stitches. My concern is that there were a few people also running to catch the boat. If somebody else had also cut their foot 20 seconds or so before me then I cut my foot and for their blood in my fresh cut, would this transmit HIV. If it is a no, can you explain why.
Avatar f tn You can try an ice or cool pack to your feet before and after running, foot powder to help, a foot spray for athletes foot. These things have been known to help. New shoes and socks or these methods does often solve the problem for runners. One other note on shoes is that maybe your feet have grown a tiny bit and so your shoes still fit but are tight, all of them. Too tight shoes can cause this. If that doesn't help, I would say that you need to see a doctor at this point.

I'm 58 going on 59 with a family history of heart problems.My father had a hard time breathing and they found it to be a heart problem- he ended up with a aorta heart valve being put in--I remember him saying that he felt sooo much better afterwards and could breath better---He is now 85 and the same valve is still working 12 years later.....
