Rsv treatment pneumonia

Common Questions and Answers about Rsv treatment pneumonia

rsv

Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
377012 tn?1283965435 the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn I took my 6 week old (1 week old adjusted) daughter to the Dr. for a runny nose/congestion and a cough. He told me she has a cold. The other day I suctioned out her nose with the bulb and there was blood in it along with yellow/green mucus. I told her Dr but he just said it sounds like a sinus infection but didn't offer any meds. Today I noticed she's breathing fast but I don't know if its just because she's congested?
Avatar m tn I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
Avatar n tn 2) Does being tested under viral pneumonia antivirals, RSV antivirals, iv antibiotics or any other pneumonia medication can also give me a false negative? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Please pray for my little one she is in the hospital in ouch with pneumonia...

Avatar n tn s what their opinion is on this subject, but there is some evidence that about half of newborns with WPW that are treated medically are symptomatic by the age of 5 years of age, so medical treatment is not always definitive, but a period of watchful waiting may be appropriate.
973741 tn?1342342773 but Influenza is excruciatingly painful (and RSV was not painful but is the only virus I went to an ER fearing death.) I fear Influenza so much I have been doing masks and Listerine for years but all it takes is that one exposure (RSV) during a lapse in following my own advice. I am curious whether Influenza could be eradicated in the future.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old has had pneumonia at LEAST 5 times in his life (will find my copies of his record which Ihave to prove it)after having the vaccine, rsv twice before he was 1 year old after having the vaccine, has had a bronchoscopy twice once at 10mos old and one at 5 years old, first one to determine diagnosis second to receive prognosis over time. Today he is 7 with pneumonia again home on Omnicef, spitting out so I can see blood tinged dark green mucous.
Avatar f tn He was a very healthy child and he should still be alive. i just got the cause of death and it was RSV and pneumonia that took him from his family. Should the doctors have done a chest x-ray and blood work? should they have kept him in hospital due to already having a heart condition? Please if anyone can help.
Avatar f tn Of course your first person to ask your question to is the doctor that is treating your brother. If he does not know why your brother is nonresponsive, then I would ask that doctor why this patient was sedated in the first place. People who have pneumonia don't breathe well, and to add sedation on top of that, well, that's counterintuitive to me. If your brother has been overly sedated, the doctor can administer drugs to reverse that effect.
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar f tn I took her into the ER today, and her temp was 104. It turns out she had RSV, strep throat, and bronchial pneumonia. :/ they brought her fever down, and we're home now. I woke up at 4am with her at my bedside crying quietly :( my poor baby. She sleeps in her own bed, so she got up and came to me. I changed her pamper, laid her down and left to get her a bottle of Pedialyte. I handed it to her and she quietly said "thank you".
Avatar n tn During the past nine months he has had numerous respiratory problems. He has has pneumonia twice and been hospitalized for a week with bronchilitis once. In addition to these, he has bee diagnosed wtih severe acid reflux and asthma. His whole life he has been congested, coughing, wheezing and sick. He is a big baby, not small and week, actually he is 31 inches long and weighs 26 pounds. He is above average developmentally, however, he is constantly getting sick.
1346146 tn?1299360497 We are having a great time here...from rsv to double ear infection! The dr gave her antibiotic hope it works fast!
Avatar f tn She had congestive heart failure with fluid retention in arma and legs and both lungs. She had pneumonia, rsv and mersa in her kidneys and lungs. She was malnurioushed and the diabetes was acting up. She ended up with a thorancentesis on her right lung which removed 2 ltrs of fluid. Now we are on day 23 and she is in ltac. Still has chest tube and is on high levels of oxygen, iv meds. She had a thoracentesis on the right lung again 1/2 a week ago.
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.
Avatar f tn I feel like my daughter is always fighting something. Our latest battle is against a primary infection of herpes simplex virus (oral). Dr. thinks she came into contact w/ someone w/ a coldsore? She just turned 3 and this is her 5th+ infection- battle, not counting the common colds and acid reflux(not an infection) she battled as an infant. She has had pneumonia twice, hand, foot & mouth disease twice, ear infections on at least 2 seperate occasions, and now this.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! 593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
