Common Questions and Answers about Rsv symptoms cough

rsv

Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn This could be asthma and it could be related to the respiratory syntactical virus (RSV). However, you or your son’s doctors should not assume that asthma or cough-variant asthma is the diagnosis. Other causes of nocturnal cough should be investigated including, but not limited to, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), chronic rhinitis and sinusitis and cystic fibrosis (CF). He may need to be seen by a pediatric pulmonologist.
Avatar n tn having a simple clear runny nose and occasional cough that can be treated at home, to severe difficulty breathing that may require hospitalization. Other symptoms might include a low-grade fever, sore throat, headache, and irritability. Younger children, especially those under 2 or 3 years old, are most at risk for more severe symptoms, such as high fever, wheezing, difficulty breathing, a persistent cough, or apnea. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn if not then it might just be cold drs will worry if the baby develops a fever or bad cough.
Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
Avatar m tn I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.
17339543 tn?1455969537 My two months old baby is having a mild cough. Can I give septrin? I feel terrible anytime he coughs.
377012 tn?1283965435 on the 17th he started wheezing, breathing rapidly, running a fever of 102.6...18th ne started getting diarrhea, nasal congestion along with the other symptoms, last night he began vomiting and his cough sounds croupy....could this be from the flu shot or could it be pneumonia...any advice!!!!???????????
Avatar f tn Have you been to the doctor? RSV is quite prevalent this year. And cough that is a bit relentless is a symptom. Also, unfortunately, once our respiratory tract gets irritated, coughs can linger for quite a while after a virus has dissipated. Do you have a fever? I'd see a doctor for a cough that goes on for three weeks. I'm sure you are exhausted. Sleeping with a cough is tough.

Avatar n tn I visited a doctor and a pulmonologist sad I had clear chest xray no on seems to know what I have. I have a dry cough and fever 90 or so comes every evening for the past 12 days. Blood work is normal I am a non smoker. They said possibly its a viral infection. any advise.
Avatar f tn Called 2 days later and got steroids because the cough was worse. Back to the dr 6 days later because all symptoms were gone except this cough. Dr said he heard a little crackling in one lung and thought we should treat for walking pneumonia. Took z pak and prednisone for 5 more days. Still no change. Back to the Dr 4 days later and he sent us for a chest x ray. x ray was normal.
287246 tn?1318570063 They said her lungs sounded clear and gave her a decongestant, but I am still a bit nervous. Her cough just sounds so sad but she is eating pretty normally it seems and the doc said that is a good sign. She said of course if she gets worse or stops eating, etc., to take her to the ER. She isn't running a fever as of yet either. All my others have been sick over the last 2 weeks, so I guess it's a wonder if she DIDN'T catch anything.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
229857 tn?1319029907 Whenever you look up what you can do for symptoms it always has what it could be and RSV and pnunomia showed up now it got me all worried!
Avatar n tn My concern is, he has a constant, chronic, seemingly productive cough. He is always able to cough something up and it seems over the last few weeks to be getting worse. The doctors increased his flovent from 44 mcg 2 puffs twice a day, to 110 mcg 2 puffs twice a day, proventil 2 puffs as needed (doing this often these days), nasonex 1 squirt each nostril once a day, singulair 4mg cheable once a day, zyrtec cough medicine as needed.
Avatar n tn s taking?? Has the doctor ruled out RSV?? My daughters never had it but, his symptoms (coughing for 4 weeks) sounds alot like it. If that's the case he really should be getting breathing treatments, they're much more effective. Were you given med for the cough the first time you took him in?? Could it be an allergic reaction to the meds?? It does take their little bodies to work through viruses longer than us. Ask to make sure your son isn't getting dehydrated.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks ago i brought my 11 month old son to er due to cough, cold, wheezing and high fever of 104.6. it was a saturday by the way. my son had an open PDA that was getting fix this month. Is oxygen stats were 96 when they r normaly 100. the docs did a exam and a culture from his nose for RSV. after a few hours they had us go home and I was told to keep fluids in him and fever down. I got a call an hour later saying he has RVS but he will be fine.
Avatar f tn Im not going to get it. The prevalence in my area is unknown or unclear, so I will wait until baby is old enough to get his own shot. I do not feel comfortable being vaccinated whilst pregnant. The current 3 in 1 tdap shot isn't only for whooping cough as advised to us but for diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis.
478429 tn?1265244387 -) Peyton is doing much better and she can probably go home today. Her RSV came back negative so they are thinking probably Bronchiolitis. I'll talke more to the doc today. I brought her to the ER Sunday evening b/c she had a really hard cough, rapid/labored breathing and was wheezing. She got 3 nebulizer treatments in an hour and a half in the ER which helped some, but her stats still didn't stay up.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
