Common Questions and Answers about Rsv on surfaces

rsv

Avatar m tn I immediately called his doc and scheduled an appt to bring him in. I brought him in on Friday morning to be checked out and it turns out he caught a virus called Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is basically an infection of the lungs. Even writing this I break in tears to see my little one suffer so much. It's more like a common cold in adults but for kids his age is more like Bronchiolitis. I had to take him to the ER because of the fever and congestion.
1368291 tn?1299629804 The bad thing is on Friday I noticed Ryan getting a little stuffy. Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! Avatar f tn My 11 week has rsv .. He was full term .. Has any other mother had this in a infant ..
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Avatar f tn I have a fear of being infected with hiv from blood on surfaces. Most recently, I am very nervous about an incident that happened to me the other day. I purchased a sandwich from a store and it was placed in a plastic shopping bag. After I got home and ate the sandwich I noticed red splotches all over the side of the bag. The red could very well have been ink, but I am very worried that it might have been blood.
Avatar f tn we were back in er and stayed at hospital again for wheezing chest x ray clear, rsv neg.. heading to pulm doc on friday. do you have any suggestions or questions i should ask??? i am in a fog i just want my happy non wheezing baby back.
Avatar f tn When my 4 year old had RSV when he was 5 weeks old, also on a vent for 11 days, (he had RSV a second time when he was 2 1/2 in the hospital 5 days no vent.) they said he could end up having asthma. Every time we go see the pulmonologist *sorry if I spelled it wrong, they ask how often does he couh at night. None, doen't cough in the day time either only when he is sick. So from what I was told and understand it does sound like he has asthma.
Avatar n tn My son Jack has been experiencing skin irritation for the last month or so. He started off out of the blue with red spots under the skin with very little "bump' to them. I thought for sure he was getting Chx Pox but that was not it, did some research in Mumps since it looked more like that. no go there. He still experiences itching around his neck, back and arms.. His eyes have dark circles under them as well.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!

1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
Avatar f tn no Im not on anyother medications. my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar f tn Then fever up to 104 and deydration the next took her to the ER they put her on IVs but could not find whats wrong. She has a history of RSV could this be what it is again. I dont know what o do?
377012 tn?1283965435 uuggghhh it was like acid coming up green watery substance. my son was diagnosed with RSV yesterday and i was wondering if im not preggo then could the RSV affect me causing me to feel this way?????
Avatar n tn I am assuming that the WPW was ablated and if so then he is at low risk for recurrence of the SVT. If ablation was not undertaken, and he is on medications for prevention, then I would say he still can undergo routine day care with low risk of recurrence.
Avatar f tn For example about a week ago I was drinking and fell I cut my hip on the concrete driveway, and my finger on some glass. It was visibly bleeding and because I had been drinking I did not get a chance to cover it with a band aid. My questions are these - 1. Can/What is the probability of contracting hep c through environmental cuts. Such as cutting yourself on weights, or falling and getting a cut on the ground. Just environmental wounds in general...
Avatar m tn How long does Hep C last on surfaces outside the body? I've read wide conflicting statements with 16 hours to 4 days and 6 weeks. Which is it?
Avatar f tn One of my friends new born baby was diagnosed with rsv she is only a month old she is still in the hospital. And last night her 2 year old got bit by a dog. She was rushed to the er . She has to save surgery this morning if you can please say a prayer for this family.
Avatar n tn What is the difference here. If I go into a dirty hotel, lay down on wet semen soaked sheets and I have a sore on my back which comes in contact with the sheet, why can't I get infected if a person who lives with an HIV + housemate can? Does it have to do with timing? I am sorry, but I am having a hard time making sense of this. Thanks Just looking for further clcaity.
Avatar f tn I just had my son at 33 weeks 6 days. If anyone on here has had preemies before my question is how long after you brought baby home did you stay in the house? I didn't get a definite answer from my doctor or the hospital. He is now almost 3 weeks and doing well just above 6 pounds. I've heard other moms say right away is okay another said one year!!! I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week.
Avatar f tn My question this a possible route of transmission of hepatitis virus?
Avatar f tn 4 weeks ago I noticed a yellowish bump on my throat. My child had RSV and a co-worker had strep which I had been exposed to. I also started a new CPAP machine therapy at a much higher pressure than I had previously. I had been feeling dizzy and had a mild sore throat and mailasie. 10 days ago I went to doctor who swabbed my throat and put me on antibiotic even though strep test was negative. I completed the treatment but the bump has not gone away.
Avatar f tn 43 CDC has divided noncritical surfaces in dental offices into clinical contact and housekeeping surfaces.43 Clinical contact surfaces are surfaces that might be touched frequently with gloved hands during patient care or that might become contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious material and subsequently contact instruments, hands, gloves, or devices (e.g., light handles, switches, dental X-ray equipment, chair-side computers).
