rsv

Avatar f tn RSV is a resportory disease that starts as a common cold and then starts to shot down the resportory system very scary. We finally found out what it was that my daughter had. She had strep in the stomach and intestines. Instead of the strep staying in her throat she swallowed it. She got worse that ever after I posted this, so I brought her to a different hospital and they figured it out. thanks for responding.
Avatar n tn He was okay to come home then he was 5 weeks old and got really ill with the RSV and was in the hospital and then heart failure then the surgery then infection and more illness. he does have pulmomary issues partly because my hubby has asthma and the ithers they are saying is from bing on a ventilator at such a young age. Please make sure he gets the synagisis shot.(it helps lesson the rsv in a child with a heart issue and premature babies.
Avatar f tn here is what you should loook for for worseing things, my son had it when he was 5 weeks old and he does have a cardiac issue so I hope your little one is healthy. look for bluish on the lops nail and nail bed. your little one really struggling to breathe if his nostrils are moving back and forth as well as him "sucking in " at his ribs. (this is called nasal flaring and retraction. (my kids can nasal gflare without being in respiratory distress.
Avatar f tn I just had my son at 33 weeks 6 days. If anyone on here has had preemies before my question is how long after you brought baby home did you stay in the house? I didn't get a definite answer from my doctor or the hospital. He is now almost 3 weeks and doing well just above 6 pounds. I've heard other moms say right away is okay another said one year!!! I have errands and appointments plus my 5 year old has to be taken and picked up from school during the week.
Avatar f tn The thing is he have been admitted , the doctor gave a breathing machine for home .. He seem to be doing fine but its only day four .. The cough and running nose it's as bad ..
593530 tn?1263847957 my daugter is 4 weeks old and she got RSV. She was hospitalized for 3 days and was being monitored for her oxygen levels. She is still coughing a lot and its hard to watch her. Doc said it can take upto a month or 2 to fully recover.
Avatar n tn I am assuming that the WPW was ablated and if so then he is at low risk for recurrence of the SVT. If ablation was not undertaken, and he is on medications for prevention, then I would say he still can undergo routine day care with low risk of recurrence.
Avatar f tn My son had rsv and the hospital kept him and thankfully we were released in a few hours because his breathing was better.its scary to do that at home, honestly they should of kept him he's only an infant ! Please contact a doctor I honestly don't think he should be home my son was two months old when he had it, and my husband ask if we can go home with him and they told us some pretty scary stuff .
Avatar m tn Arbutus, the pharma touted by many to be the first to develop a cure for HBV based many of their products from the research work of HBF and its scientists. It would not surprise me if HBF would develop a cure for HBV. Their effort in raising awareness of HBV, their lobbying for greater funding for HBF research, and their fight against the discrimination and stigma of HBV through dissemination of knowledge benefit us all.
Avatar f tn t respond to treatment within 2 to 3 weeks, then I would haul your son right back in to see his specialist and ask for something else. To leave asthma out of control is not ideal and can set up the lungs for infections. I've been there, and absolutely no fun. I spent 9 months this last year with out of control asthma, it wasn't till I got a nasty lung infection which caused a severe asthma exacerbation that I finally got different inhaler treatment. Now it is much better.
Avatar n tn Medicine over the last several years has been putting more and more together about viral triggers of other illnesses. For instance juvenile diabetes is thought to be triggered by a virus - the child was already set up to be vulnerable to developing it, they catch a viral illness and a few weeks later their pancreas starts to stop working and they develop signs of diabetes.

Avatar n tn My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar n tn I visited a doctor and a pulmonologist sad I had clear chest xray no on seems to know what I have. I have a dry cough and fever 90 or so comes every evening for the past 12 days. Blood work is normal I am a non smoker. They said possibly its a viral infection. any advise.
Avatar m tn In the paper in the American Journal for Clinical Nutrition , published ahead of print March 31st 2010 you find on the forth page in fig 2 the graph of plasma concentrations of RSV as a function of time in these humans to be dose dependent and having for 500mg (quite a high dose!) found the peak concentration of original RSV at 90min after dosing to be 14.4 nanograms/ml or 14.4 micrograms/liter. Knowing the molecular weight of RSV to be 228g/Mol this translates into 14.
Avatar f tn I have to agree with what everyone else is saying.
Avatar f tn if she starts to get better on the antibiotic she will get sick the day after she is off. they sent her to infections control and they sent her to ENT and thats when he said her tubes need to come out, but untill then she still is on all these antibitoics is that ok>?
1347128 tn?1333810296 my daughter had the RSV and still kinda has it. but her lungs are clear. its been almost 1 month now. her doctor said that the next cold she gets it would most likely turn into the RSV again. but they gave her benadril. her doctor told me to get a humidifier and put it in the same room as the baby and turn or you could also turn on the hot water and get it steamy in there while you have your baby in there and that could help also, i did both of those thing with her and it helped alot!!
Avatar f tn One of my friends new born baby was diagnosed with rsv she is only a month old she is still in the hospital. And last night her 2 year old got bit by a dog. She was rushed to the er . She has to save surgery this morning if you can please say a prayer for this family.
Avatar f tn She was rehospitalized for respiratory arrest & dehyrdation monday morning. She had blood work redone and her wbc came down to 18. Her platlets dropped from high to low. She has RSV and the croup & low bp and fever. They believe she may have some PID?? Lets see how long it takes to beat this and then see how long it is before she gets sick again.
551885 tn?1300383822 Last month was supposed to be the last but they called a couple of weeks ago and told us that half the kids that are coming in sick are testing positive for RSV and if Cassidy got it she would go back to the NICU again so I guess this month will be the last.
973741 tn?1342342773 ) I fear Influenza so much I have been doing masks and Listerine for years but all it takes is that one exposure (RSV) during a lapse in following my own advice. I am curious whether Influenza could be eradicated in the future.
Avatar f tn Keep an eye on her breathing. My son had RSV and that isn't fun. If she breathes way too fast, acts differently, turns blue or anything take her to the er to get an RSV test done. It can be really dangerous. My sons oxygen level was at 70 and he was hospitalized for a week. If you feel its more than a cold its better to get her checked out. You shouldn't have to wait long at an er because of her age.
Avatar f tn A respitory virus and that now i have cold like symptoms and a rash on my face. She said i coukd have parvo and they drew blood to find out for sure but i don't have results yet. She says my baby can become anemic and can need a blood transfusion while in the womb. I am so terrified.
