Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!

Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.

My son is going to be 2 months old soon and a couple of days after he was born they told me he has RSV, i have been in and out of the hospital so many times and he dose not seem to be getting any better. I have read everybody stories and How they lost their loved ones and i am so scared that it might happen to my son. Please is there anything that i can do to prevent this from getting worse???

Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...

It could be something that an infectious disease doctor could diagnose, but you are asking about this on the Leukemia website. Did someone suggest the possibility of Leukemia? Usually when a patient presents with a high WBC along with high platelets a bone marrow biopsy is done to rule out Leukemia. If its not a form of Leukemia, then they would do further testing to see what is causing this problem. How old is your daughter?

I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?

Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!

(crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!

That's so scary!!!!!! I didn't even know what RSV was until I read forums about preemies going out. Now I'm freaking out!!! My son was born early and he always breathes fast then slow. He's working on regulating his breathing so I can't tell if that's his normal breathing or not. A lot of the symptoms are stuff that he does normally so it's extra scary. In Hawaii the rsv season is November to April and he was born November 14.

One of my friends new born baby was diagnosed with rsv she is only a month old she is still in the hospital. And last night her 2 year old got bit by a dog. She was rushed to the er . She has to save surgery this morning if you can please say a prayer for this family.

Oh he also has a little rash on his face which I know is common in babies that have a cold or other type of infection... the thing im worried about is RSV??? I think thats what its called. I read online it usually shows up between 4-6 week olds and he is 4 weeks... also im worried about the dark yellow mucus being an infection like pneunomia or something.. Gosh I hate the internet!!

How about you and your family? Did you experience a LOT fewer colds this year and flu? I guess it is masking and social distance (and that I take a cleaning wipe in everywhere I go so I don't touch anything) is preventing the normal cold and flu season. Feels like a good thing but then I wonder if that means we'll be in for a worse season of these common colds/flu later . .. thoughts?

I would definatly reccomend a specialist if you have concerns about him, I would say get any and every opinion you can get, keep us posted on how he is doing .

While being there caught rsv and since her immune system is already in overload rsv became the croup. She went into respiratory arrest,bp & o2 dropped. Scariest nights of my life. For now we have to keep her isolated until they know why her immune system is compromised.

I am very sorry your baby nephew is having these problems at such a young age. I don't really understand about being a 'blue baby' although my half sister was one. From what i have learned thru the years, it happens because of the mother and father's blood not being able to mix very well which produces a 'blue baby'. Click on the link below. I was in the ER a year ago because I felt like I was suffocating to death, and was hearing crackles in my chest. RSV B virus according to the nasal aspiration test lab results. (RSV-a pleasant way to die-you slowly suffocate but don't have any of the nasal sinus throat pain that comes with flu.) Xrays were negative but oxygenation rate was 85% and they gave me oxygen and an Albuterol nebulizer treatment, discharged home with antibiotics and an inhaler.

He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
