Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?
8101930 tn?1420001456 My son is 2 months and just received his first shots yesterday including the rotavirus vaccine. I noticed that after his shots and today he has been pooping yellow colored like normal but it is very chunky. He is exclusively breast fed and always has a little bit of a seedy stool but this is very chunky. I'm Just curious if anyone knows if this is normal or not. Could it be from the rotavirus vaccine because they do ingest it. Thanks.

Avatar f tn At 12 months, she began to fall of her growth curve. Shortly after her first birthday, she got rotavirus and became severely dehydrated. After 4 trips to the ER (they thought I only wanted a cure for the stomach flu), she was admitted for 5 days and closely monitored. She was 17.5 lbs at her 1 year check up, she lost 1 1/2 lbs from rotavirus at admittance and upon discharge she weighed 18 lbs. A pediatrician who is a specialist thought she had celiac disease but testing came back negative.
Avatar n tn ve been through these with my 2 1/2 year old and some of them can take a very long time to clear. One that pops into mind is rotavirus. Fevers do not necessarily always accompany a virus. He should see a Dr. Also, make sure he is staying well hydrated. Food is less important then fluids. Juices, pedialight, even milk. Dehydration is always the biggest concern. Is he energetic or listless? That too can tell you alot. If he is listless and weak, then he should be seen right away.
Avatar f tn s one poke on the foot then they usually do a hepatitis B shot then roughly ever 2 months the baby gets Dtap,Hib ,Polio,Pneumococcal, Rotavirus (hope i spelled them all right)but they can mix some together usually 2 pokes with the needle the babies get over it so fast
Avatar f tn So if you have a type that is viral such as one caused by norovirus or rotavirus you could have a contagious type or a bacterial one like Clostridium difficile, Salmonella or Shigella pr Ecoli that has a toxin (not all strains have it). So you need to find out which one by having the doctor do some lab tests or telling you which one you have. The main thing is washing your hands well after using the toilet.
136689 tn?1419580447 she had rotavirus from birth but that is sorting it self out and has been putting on weight steadly so we are sort of hoping that the sweat test will come back negative do i have a glimmer of hope for a misdiagnoses?
172023 tn?1334672284 A lactose free diet means eating foods that have no lactose. Lactose is a sugar that is a normal part of milk products. Some people do not break down lactose well. They may not have enough lactase, the enzyme that breaks lactose down in the body. Or, their body may make lactase that does not work properly. This may cause gas, bloating, cramping, or diarrhea when they eat or drink milk products. Following a lactose free diet may prevent these problems.
362119 tn?1223137936 or will this work its way through him and be over?? He did have a culture done to test for rotavirus..and i have been waiting 4 days for the results..each day they tell me they are not in!!!
Avatar f tn Thank You. The loose bm have stopped and I am back to being constipated. If the lactose can give you diarhea why don't I get it on a regular basis if I am lactose intolerant?
Avatar f tn Yes im lactose and 29 weeks along i drink lactose free milk and non dairy prodoucts .
Avatar f tn Yeah pregnancy lactose intolerance is a thing. Like gestational diabetes. It usually goes away after baby is born.
Avatar f tn Drink soy or almond milk.
Avatar f tn Hi ive never had any issues with lactose till this pregnancy just curious if anyone else is the same ?
Avatar f tn The best thing that worked for me is lactate (lactose free milk) but yogurt and cheese is fine bcuz it loses its lactose in the process.
Avatar f tn Sorry this is way off of our normal subject, but I was just wondering the signs of lactose intolerance and whether or not you can get this as you get older. I am wondering because I have had abdominal pain for the past about 4 days. And I mean it really hurts. Also my back kind of where my kidneys are. I also get nausea a little and spent this morning vomiting. I went to the doctor and he said I was free of infection, and I am not pregnant so he does not know.
Avatar f tn Could being pregnant make me become lactose intolerant? Also would that mean my baby is too?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has any experience with lactose intolerance? My husband is mostly intolerant sometimes he can drink a little milk and doesn't have a problem if its cooked into something.
4111382 tn?1356207828 It's a pill tagt will help your body respond to the lactose properly. Just take it before you have any dairy and you should be ok. Good luck!
1099201 tn?1338180918 Can someone become lactose intolerant as they get older. I have noticed lately when I eat certain dairy products sometimes I get stomach cramps and gassy and loose stools. How do I figure out if have become lactose intolerant.
1226811 tn?1271521927 it will give you bloating, mabee even diarrhea. you can still have milk products that are lactose free, lactose free milk which is about the same price as regular milk, and when you want to eat anything containing milk (chese, etc, get some Lacteeze pills at the pharmacy and take as indicated on package, there great.
