Avatar f tn I just wrote a long reply to this and poof! It disappeared! Well, here is the abridged version: Not sure when infected, probably in '01, diagnosed in '08, almost 4 years of combination oral antibiotics. Went from terrible neuro symptoms, pain, fatigue, heat intolerance and holding on by a thread to part-time work to much improved, full time work, some residual pain and very slowly improving fatigue. It's a long road, but it can be trekked.

Avatar f tn You will be surprised to know that headache is an important symptom of both cerebral (brain fever) malaria and normal extra cerebral malaria. Some antimalarial drugs can cause headaches. In addition, many patients of malaria suffer from postmalaria neurologic syndrome of which headache is one of the important symptoms. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor at the earliest. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn In conditions of chronic urticaria, thyroid antibodies are not only indicators of chronic inflammation, but they appear to play a role in the disease process. In most cases, improvement of urticaria with thyroxine replacement hormone suggests that chronic thyroid inflammation may initiate a hypersensitivity reaction and an underlying thyroid hormone deficiency. However, rarely, patients with chronic urticaria have undiagnosed conditions of Graves' disease.

Avatar n tn No change in my answers. Azithromycin has a half life of 36 hours, staying in the body for days after taking it. Ceftriaxone has a half life of about 9 hours, staying in the body for about 2 days after a single injection. It is time for you to put this behind you and move on.

Avatar n tn today, i had a severe pain on the left side of my chest. like in my left breast, extending towards the side and back. it's constant pain and i feel like vomiting a bit because of that pain. it got so severe that i had to lie down and then it felt a bit better but it's still throbbing. i recently got put on antibiotics (azithromycin) for a throat infection, but these pains are not a side effect.
Avatar f tn Here is just a small quote from Women's Health web site: http://www.womens-health-questions.com/how-many-years-does-menopause-last.html Menopause is as personal as the menstrual cycle and puberty itself are, making the time it takes to complete highly unpredictable. By most estimates the majority of symptoms and the process itself takes from 2 to 10 years to complete but for some symptoms like hot flashes can last on into their 70s.

Avatar n tn Malaria infection in pregnant women can be more severe than in nonpregnant women. Malaria can increase the risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes, including prematurity, spontaneous abortion, and stillbirth. For these reasons, and because no chemoprophylactic regimen is completely effective, women who are pregnant or likely to become pregnant should be advised to avoid travel to areas with malaria transmission if possible (see Chapter 8, Pregnant Travelers).
