Avatar n tn HI, my husband just moved to India for a month and has forgotten his prescription medication in America (Maxalt MLT) Is there anyone who would know what the Indian version of Maxalt MLT would be? I am currently posting from america. I could have it shipped but the cost and everything would take too long.
655875 tn?1295695107 Maxalt is a a 5-HT1 agonist triptan drug containing rizatriptan benzoate. It is recommended that doses should be separated by at least 2 hours and no more than 30 mg should be taken in any 24-hour period. However, the safety of treating, more than four headaches in a 30-day period has not been established. Analgesics and other over-the-counter pain relievers are often associated with rebound headaches.
Avatar n tn The first time I took Maxalt-Mlt it made me a bit dizzy. Also my nose and fingers got very cold. However I didn't experience vomiting so I would call your doctor asap about that. Another thing, you can only take two of those within a 24 hour period. If the first one didn't work, wait two hours then take another. Pls call your doctor regarding this. Keep us updated pls.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar m tn i got these pills recently called Maxalt not sure how they work I woke up with a migrane couple days ago . took one and eventually fell back asleep woke up and was fine..so these pills seem to help when the pain gets bad.thanks for your help DrNoopurMD i love this site.
Avatar f tn Also, my symtoms don't exactly match the standard either, but after going to a Headache clinic I was confirmed as having migraines-the pain is on either the left or right front of my forehead never goes beyond the ears and can be a real pain unless I catch them at the beginning, if wake up with "full blown" it becomes a race btw the Maxalt and the migraine, I have had anywhere from 15-18 per month, also have to use strong coffee and ice pack or it's just a waste of the Maxalt a
655875 tn?1295695107 The drug of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), naratriptan (Amerge), zolmitriptan (Zomig), almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova) and eletriptan (Relpax). Hormone therapy may help some women whose migraines seem to be linked to their menstrual cycle. Other alternatives include stress management strategies, such as exercise, relaxation, and biofeedback may also reduce the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks.
Avatar m tn I am not on Coumadin 5mg a day, and i have to go every week for my PR-INR. I also have horrable migraine headaches all the time. I am currently taking Maxalt-MLT for the migraines, the only way that i can take the medication is if i take it and go to sleep. Most of the time i will wake up for with a headaches that is worse then the one that i had when i went to bed. I just don't know why my headaches are worse now then what they were before.
Avatar m tn If you get a triptan that is in a pill form it can take a long time to work... so, that is not so good for SS. That is why you need to get a triptan in either a nasal spray or a quick dissolve tablet, such as zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray or maxalt quick dissolve tablets. There is also a injection that would be fast acting too...
1030950 tn?1261010513 Hey there, Maxalt shouldn't cause rebound headaches, BUT it is true that you can only take 2 doses every 24 hours. So, never take more than two doses in 24 hours and never take more then 2 doses for the SAME migraine. OTC medications such as Ibuprofen (advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are much more likely to cause rebound headaches than triptans such as Maxalt.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 35 year old woman and I've been suffering from vertigo and dizziness for about 8 months now with tinnitus and hearing loss in my left ear. (I've had these symptoms on and off for about 10 years). Every doctor I've seen has mentioned Menieres but now my ENT consultant has said it's low down on the list and has now referred me to a neurologist and for an MRI. I'm terrified that there is something seriously wrong with me.
Avatar f tn Pharmacy medication that may help include triptiphans such as a brand named Maxalt MLT. The MLT is a melt version that disintegrates on the tongue and gets in the system faster. What may also help is a drug called Zofran it is also available in melt version and gets in the system fast. The Zofran will help with nausea and sometimes if taken quickly may even abort the migraine without Maxalt.
1577473 tn?1296177286 I saw the doctor for the first appt and she put me on Zonisamide as a migraine preventative and Maxalt-MLT 10 mg as a rescue medication as well as ordering some labs, an MRI and an MRA. All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all. The Zonisamide gave me some pretty intense heart palpitations so I was switched to Topomax.
Avatar f tn Your doctor can prescribe you a quick dissolve tablet or a nasal spray (those are both better than a regular tablet) that you can take at home though... examples are maxalt-MLT, zomig-ZMT, zomig nasal spray, imitrex or imitrex nasal spray. But, only your doctor can prescribe these or say if they are actually appropriate for you and your headache (not everyone can take them).
Avatar m tn It’s now been six months since my first “migraine” episode – I can go weeks in-between episodes or just days. When I have an episode, as directed, I usually take a Maxalt-MLT tablet within ten minutes of identifying the obscured vision. In doing so, my neurologist (and I so far) believe that the full force of the migraine will be averted, i.e. that the head pain will be subdued.
Avatar m tn All the mold gets churned up and I suffer for a few days until the humidity drops. The doctors were baffled , but prescribed Maxalt , which is a rizatriptan and it works decently to abort the pain before it gets serious. My front yard is waterfront and my home has a mold issue , yet my attacks start only after it rains. I am convinced beyond doubt that this is the culprit. You might consider a dehumidifier in your home.
4084741 tn?1350808485 Thought I was getting another MRI but got axial ct scan w/o contrast,. Haven't gotten the results yet. Dunno how to read it but seems normal to me. If anyone knows how to read it or make sense of it, please let me know. Avatar f tn This time I saw the black zigzag lines which was a first. I immediately took the Maxalt that was prescribed and still had the pain for quite a while afterwards. It subsided about 1.5 hrs later so unsure if it was the medicine or if it just went away on it's own. Around the same time I noticed the medication made me incredibly dizzy. I felt fine lying down but had the spins horribly if I sat up. Now unsure if this is the right medicine for me but willing to give it another try.

The migraines meds didnt work and now everythings getting worse...for the past week ive been getting lower back pain and the chest pain has got worse, my left side of my neck and jaw have been hurting sending the pain up into my head and Ive been waking up in the middle of the night with headaches...
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if i put this in the right place. moderators please move if in the wrong place. I have started having deep muscle spasms in my right calf. I have hd these spasms for about 5 months now. I have severe spasms sometimes. Sometimes they are so severe that I wake up crying. Other times I have twitching in that same muscle. All day long i suffer with the minor twitching. I think I have become used to the twitching pain. The severe pain is intense. I also have severe migraines.
Avatar m tn I assume you are taking the tablet version of Imitrex. Getting something into the system quickly is key. My wife uses Maxalt MLT and that seems to help but sometimes the environmental triggers are too overwhelming for the meds to help.
673736 tn?1228234586 I have had migraines since i was 15, I am now 37, about 10 years ago my daughters pediatrician at the time finally reccomended I see a neurologist from that point on I have tried and retried every migraine medication they make it seems. I am on Inderal, Topamax, Skelaxin, Maxalt Mlt plus the narcotics that are still sometimes needed from time to time.
Avatar f tn sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. Yesterday my skin was freaking out again and I hadn't changed any of the products I had been using. But, much of the irritation was around my mouth which brought me to look at foods I had recently been eating. I made the connection that perhaps the preservatives of the smoothie I reacted to were in the ham or cheese or fig newtons I had just recently added to my diet. Fig newtons contained both sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.
Avatar m tn s too soon to notice a trend. Migraine medications such as Maxalt MLT 10mg has worked so far for me but as I said this is only a recent change for me as my previous migraines started with an aura. Hope this helps you.
